I couldn't say 1 way or another as to the influence this music had on Talk Talk, I will say this...Steve Winwood was a respected Musician LONG before T T ever put out their first song let alone hit. While I really love T T , Winwood is definitely the larger of the 2 And I would even go as far as to say more popular world wide . He's played in Traffic ,Blind Faith ,With Hendrix ( I believe ) And Clapton . What Legendary groups has Hollis played in ? Talk Talk Is not a legendary band .
One of the few consummate musicians of this era; songwriter, vocalist, and proficient on every instrument you hear on his albums. On this album "Arc of a Diver" he did it all solo.
Undoubtedly THE BEST song he has ever done. I cannot believe this did not chart! This is my #1 favorite, followed by "Arc Of A Diver", followed by "While You See A Chance", from the landmark 1980 album. "Valerie" is the other one.
@ava610 True, but he is reasonably famous, has certainly been well regarded, and, to some extent at least, he has been revered by those true, genuine fans of rock, pop-rock, even more blues-based music; perhaps especially those who consider the greatest keyboardists, vocalists, and even multi-instrumentalists in rock music, in blues-based music, in pop-rock music.
My favourite song too, unquestionably. It was really the driving force for me to buy the album. Mike Sparrow of Radio London (RIP) played it a lot - good for him!. I suppose (with hindsight) there are kindred/hybrid elements of Vangelis Bladerunner (or "Dervish D") intertwining hint of Stevie Wonders "Superstition" clavinet. Most hypnotic - some swinging/badass fretless bass playing on this track too. Well funky. Relatively an infant period for programmable synth electronics but a beautiful one.
exceptional song, sadly, spanish speaking people in general do not dance to this song, since most have'nt heard it,in my country for instance, the few people that know steve remember him for "Valerie" or"Back in the high life",I have dj friends that play this kind of music,I'll propose this sing so things change a bit around here...cheers...
Great sound, great audio!!! I heard this played only once on a smooth jazz radio station. Never heard it there again...now I'm so glad I found this song again! Love it! Thanks for posting!!
I first heard this song on Steve's box set, "The Finer Things"; This was one of my favorites by him. I wonder if Spanish people ever dance to this song. It fits, right?
The first time i heard it was when i bought that album for a buck a few years ago.I've never heard this song on any radio station here in Canada. They should be ashamed of themselves.
Hello, Exutuberejectee, You have great hearing for music, and thanks for posting this. Sure, I have the album and enjoyed listening to it when a few (26?) years ago, but it's good to have on the YouTube. And back then I was thinking of being a student of art, and with all this great music from Winwood, and the Talking Heads, others, it was fun at least.

Someone dared to postulate that this song had "substantial" influence on Mark Hollis(Talk Talk) songs on Colour of Spring.
I am sorry , but I don't sense this.
And I am sensitive on Talk Talk sounds...
Respect to Steve nonetheless... but Mark Hollis is imo worlds larger

He puts on a great concert; w/classy scenic stage back drops, excellent band muscians/vocal soul-singers.
Cool & sophisticated audience.
