@Sad Sushi Could it be that Khmer had been tonal,or had some tonality at some point, or that some words were borrowed from a tonal language and of those, some lasted longer - long enough to retain their unusual spelling?
Good stuff. I wanna holler at this Cambodian chick @ my school, You should make a vid about pickin up khmai girls lol. Like Phrases then break em down like you do. Keep it up.
Your teaching's specific objective is wonderful. Can you add a purpose as well. For example in this lesson, you can say. Knowing how to ask the question How Are you and answering it can help a learner carry on a polite conversation with a Khmer speaker of lesser or equal in age. You would not want a non-native to use what you teach to speak to an elder person, would you. That would be so rude considering you don't even put in the proper pronoun.
You have a good point, you can add the proper pronoun before asking a question in Khmer. In Lesson 3 I've added some pronouns but they are a bit too formal. I was planning to make a part 2 for more pronouns but never got a chance to do a lesson on it. I teach whatever I think is interesting. Sorry if I have disappointed you.
Thank you so much for this! One of my best friends is Khmer and he has always wanted me to learn the language and this has helped me learn a bit! Now I can go and surprise him the next time I talk to him!
You are good! Your lessons are really easy to understand... I wanted to pick up some khmer for a trip down to cambodia but your lessons made me find the language fun! Great job!... =)
Thanks for your comment, I try to make my video at least 2 to 5 minutes long so it doesn't get boring. Enjoy your trip to Cambodia. I've never been there before. You're so lucky.
Awesome, Do you like cambodian food? Hmm, come to think of it. Maybe I should make a lesson on Cambodian food. Well, I let my friend borrowed my camera so I have to wait about a week to get it back. I don't understand what you mean here:
"Will let you know if I can make a video to let you see ya?"
Are you trying to say you want to show me what you look like? =/
Cambodian food is not bad at all. By the way, what i meant was i'll let you know if i can make a video of the pictures i took in Cambodia to let you see =) i've got quite a number =)
Good job on the lesson, i like all the pictures and diagrams you drew.

What is the + sign in the word yes (for female)?
Can you explain more about words that have that?

What is the + sign above the first consonant in the word "jah" (yes for female)

@oakstrong1
I guess it has something to do with the tones. Khmer is not a tonal language though. I wonder why it's there myself.

my crazy khmer friend told me:
SUK sa bye day.

Thanks so much for this. I've found a number of khmer sites which have text written but very little spoken sounds. This is what I needed. Brilliant!
