I dont know why people make jokes of him because he said its the "stom of the century." The reason he said that was because it was expected to become a 5 before landfall.
It is so easy for us to sit here with our nice jobs and our nice homes and tell everybody to "lift themselves" out of poverty. That is not always possible. Look at some of the people who are struggling to survive, and ask yourselves, "Would I hire this person to work for me if I had the opportunity to do so?" Most of the time the answer would be "NO" if you would be perfectly honest. Some folks are not "hireable" and you know it. They simply aren't capable. It is a shame.
I agree John---Naigin is just a media hog trying to use the hype to wipe away his obvious fuck ups during Katrina. The thing hit the coast as a category 2...some mother of all storms.
Not denying that sup--it wasnt the "mother of all storms" and "Potential to be" is irrelavant--My point was and is that Nagin is a media player for self promotion as well as an idiot.

It should be noted that whether Gustav turns out to be "the mother of all storms or not" he had to make a point, and that was for people not to stay home in the event that they should find themselves in the same predicament as post Katrina. Even if he exaggerated, it was insure that people evacuated, which seems to have worked.
I love how people that are deaf can hear the news too, and that the woman doing the sign language must be so experienced to be the sign languager of the mayor...
Actually, that woman is not the "Best" ASL (American Sign Language)Interpreter i have even seen. she probably does not have deaf parents by looking at the way she is signing. but i do give her this, the message is some what clear and understood.
lol, I cant read sign language, but I think its cool how people can translate words, and think of both English version and any of version (including sign language)
As usual, Ray Nagin looks like a fool. He called Hurricane Gustav, "the storm of the century." At best, Gustav will be a Category 2 hurricane (big deal).
I watch Ray Nagin three years ago and I saw a mayor that was totally unprepared for the devestation that Katrina brought, but this time around I am very impressed by the demeanor and leadership of Ray Nagin. Talk about growing as a Social Leader of the community. He really genuinely cares about the people of New Orleans, and I really am proud of all his efforts. There were many people unprepared for Katrina...just thought I would add that. My prayers go to the people in the Gulf Region.
Looks like Al Gore was right after all: Due to climate change, he said these storms would increase both in frequency and in intensity. Climate change is real, folks! Let's deal with it! Vote Obama!

Charlatan: a person practising quackery or some similar confidence trick in order to obtain money or advantage via some form of pretence or deception. See also: Al Gore.
let me break something to you. Brighter days are not coming. Its a hard truth. But take it in. Brighter days are not coming. The US poverty rate is increasing BY DAY. So why do you speak of brighter days if you haven't done your research. Are you gonna help everyone? What brighter days.
I was being metaphorical. I meant that when we go to heaven, these times will seem trivial. Poverty rates are increasing all over the world. I do what I can to help as one man to another. I believe in God, and I believe that heaven is great. So what ever you going through, I will keep hope alive for you in prayer. Don't give up hope, be strong in your weakness.
That's because people in poverty don't have as many choices about where to live. Lifting yourself out of poverty is a lot harder when you are from a family and a neighborhood with a history of racial injustice. Major progress is being made on racial equality, but that does not instantly erase the long lingering effects in these neighborhoods.
Here's a novel idea: Move out of the fucking flood plain. What kind of ass crack moves back into a city that is built below sea level, has inadequate levies, inadequate roads and inadequate leadership? We spent more money rebuilding New Orleans in the last three years than we have in Iraq, but at least we're winning in Iraq. My take: no pity for idiots in the Big Easy.
I think campherphonique is saying we're "winning in Iraq" not because we're killing Iraqis, but because violence there is decreasing. This is good for everyone, right?
Thank you,I agree. Why do we allow the federal government to keep sinking billions upon billions of dollars to rebuild New Orleans when it is a losing cause? Relocate New Orleans!
Look, it is nothing against the good people of New Orleans. However, a city 12 feet below sea level cannot survive the long haul without billions of federal dollars every year. That makes no sense.
blowing billions of dollars on a war over in boofoo makes no sense. The west has forest fires and earth quakes, the midwest has tornados, the north east has bitter cold that knocks out power and slows great cities to a crawl. My point is that everyone needs fucking money. What better way to spend it than on your own people and cities, to protect them and to seem them prosper. Unless you're living in your ma's asshole where not even the cold bites you, ya tard, i find ur comment fucking stupid.
Let me fill you in since you apparently only watch MTV. Our nation is 10 Trillion dollars in debt, we shouldn't keep throwing good money after bad in New Orleans. The city is 12 feet BELOW sea level.
