It is so easy for us to sit here with our nice jobs and our nice homes and tell everybody to "lift themselves" out of poverty. That is not always possible. Look at some of the people who are struggling to survive, and ask yourselves, "Would I hire this person to work for me if I had the opportunity to do so?" Most of the time the answer would be "NO" if you would be perfectly honest. Some folks are not "hireable" and you know it. They simply aren't capable. It is a shame.

It should be noted that whether Gustav turns out to be "the mother of all storms or not" he had to make a point, and that was for people not to stay home in the event that they should find themselves in the same predicament as post Katrina. Even if he exaggerated, it was insure that people evacuated, which seems to have worked.

I watch Ray Nagin three years ago and I saw a mayor that was totally unprepared for the devestation that Katrina brought, but this time around I am very impressed by the demeanor and leadership of Ray Nagin. Talk about growing as a Social Leader of the community. He really genuinely cares about the people of New Orleans, and I really am proud of all his efforts. There were many people unprepared for Katrina...just thought I would add that. My prayers go to the people in the Gulf Region.

Raqlynn, I was responding to Label. I was hoping to showcase Labels inability to show empathy towards those who love their country and live or grew up in New Orleans. Sometimes a good post can rattle a person to reconsider their position to one that is more compassionate, even if that means being more in debt.
