Choosing a Water Softening System : Water Softener Maintenance & Salt

Thanks for the info. I found you because last night great amount (gallons and gallons) of water came out of the hose. It may be part of its normal cycling process (I just never paid attention), but this time, it drenched my utility room. I'm not sure if it's because the hose coming out of the softener was kicked out of the drain cover or it was never inside of the drain cover and normally the water just trickle out slowly. I'd appreciate it if you can shed some light.
