Sonic Team really needs to sit down for a moment and think logically about what made Genesis-era Sonic such a classic, and I think they're starting to catch on. Sonic's speed makes him ideal for 2D platformers, but put him in a 3D world and you've got a game that either has to sacrifice speed or some element of control.
