I agree that with you that he seems like a man with good character and Michael Moore really was not worthy of an actual debate. I just can't help but wonder why he has not gotten in the race yet. Also, he cannot compete with Ron Paul's fiscal conservative voting record. To me it appears that Thompson does not offer anything that the other Republican candidates do not.

The other GOP candidates are not stand up guys, nor Conservative. They all have waffled on Core Conservative issues. It is a simple fact that if you elect one of the GOP frontrunners(I.E. McCain, Romney, Giuliani) You get nothing more than Hillary in a man suit.

Your assuming that I agreed with everything Reagan did. Besides, I think you will have a hard time proving to me that Fred Thompson has the same gifts and talents that Ronald Reagan possessed. But, whoever wins the election, I hope they will be themselves and not try to be someone else.
You make some excellent points. I also like Mitt Romney. He shined in last night's debate. He is articulate, knowledgeable, and charismatic. Whoever gets the Republican nomination will get my vote! I can't imagine a Democrat in the White House during these dangerous times.
In terms of Mr. Thompson becoming the next President, I believe he lacks the network of political influence in Washington and in each of the states, he lacks the money, the political clout. Its like he is just thinking about getting his "feet wet" while everyone else is half way finished with the race. He has so much catch-up to do that I doubt he can make any significant progress.
The conditions you describe can actually help Thompson in the long run. If he enters the race, he will stand out among a group of Republican candidates that the party already seems tired of.

Fred Thompson is the most straight-forward politician in the nation. You watch him in interviews and he answers questions directly, he's humble, and he uses common sense rather than political correctness to rule his positions on issues. There's no one out there that can compare to this guy on either side of the aisle. He's got my vote already (and he hasn't even announced yet)!
Cavuto says he was blown away by just how straigh-forward and down-to-earth Thompson. He says he arrived for their interview and it was just Thompson by himself. He drove himself... he didn't have any handlers or PR people... he spoke candidly, answered questions and got into his car and drove home. Don't know what that means as far as presidential implications... but it sure is refreshing.

If you are a Republican who wants Fred Thompson nominated, have you really given it much thought? Why would we nominate a man who doesn't have time for debates, with Michael Moore OR with the other Republican candidates? Should we nominate a man who has a history of cancer and is still smoking cigars? I have an open mind and would like to hear a solid argument for Thompson's nomination but so far I don't see a viable candidate. Until I am convince otherwise, Ron Paul in 08!

I agree that with you that he seems like a man with good character and Michael Moore really was not worthy of an actual debate. I just can't help but wonder why he has not gotten in the race yet. Also, he cannot compete with Ron Paul's fiscal conservative voting record. To me it appears that Thompson does not offer anything that the other Republican candidates do not.

I remember many people voting for Bush. When asked why, they said "He seems like an honest and charismatic guy..." Look where that type of selecting got us. I wish you the best on whomever you vote for, but I ask that people study up on the candidates and not vote on their gut feelings.

Fred Thompson is not my choice for President. The Americans for Better Immigration rate him with a C on immigration. Duncan Hunter has a rating of A+. Duncan Hunter is a genuine conservative who has a proven record of fighting illegal immigration and is the only one I trust to secure our borders.

I think I have become a Fred supporter. I have been watching many of the videos here and reading his positions, and I really think I like this guy. I haven't actually felt a genuine interest for a candidate in quite some time. I am a registered independent but I may have to switch to Republican to insure Thompson emerges from the primaries.

The same things were said about Reagan when he was elected president. The Democrats had a majority in Congress and Tip O'Neil joked about how the Democrats were going to show Reagan how things worked in D.C. Reagan appealed to the American public directly in order to force the Democrats to follow his agenda. So much for showing Reagan how things are run in D.C.

Your assuming that I agreed with everything Reagan did. Besides, I think you will have a hard time proving to me that Fred Thompson has the same gifts and talents that Ronald Reagan possessed. Granted, I am sure Fred Thompson has a great many wonderful gifts and talents, many of which may in some manner look similar to Reagan. But, whoever wins the election, I hope they will be themselves and not try to be someone else.

In terms of Mr. Thompson becoming the next President, I believe he lacks the network of political influence in Washington and in each of the states, he lacks the money, the political clout. Its like he is just thinking about getting his "feet wet" while everyone else is half way finished with the race. He has so much catch-up to do that I doubt he can make any significant progress.

Fred Thompson is the most straight-forward politician in the nation. You watch him in interviews and he answers questions directly, he's humble, and he uses common sense rather than political correctness to rule his positions on issues. There's no one out there that can compare to this guy on either side of the aisle. He's got my vote already (and he hasn't even announced yet)!

Cavuto says he was blown away by just how straigh-forward and down-to-earth Thompson. He says he arrived for their interview and it was just Thompson by himself. He drove himself... he didn't have any handlers or PR people... he spoke candidly, answered questions and got into his car and drove home. Don't know what that means as far as presidential implications... but it sure is refreshing.
