haha....when I saw this at first I was like "How did he find a replica of himself? And why do they have the exact same Ocarina!" =_= I really think the all nighters need to lay off for a while....hehe...lay off....haha.But that was very calming, nice job.
i loved Laputa: Castle Ih The Sky and Nausicaa and Spirited away and... well i love all of miyazaki's works. you really played this song well and thumbs up to miyazaki!!
Ah, but this video is really fantastic!! I love the sound of ocarica ... And I love the movie Laputa! Now I'm studying the music of this film! You are great! :-)
@awells88 They really do go well together in the videos I've seen. I play both so I keep meaning to do an overdub recording featuring both, but I just haven't gotten around to it.
Well done. I have that same ocarina and the higher chamber is extremely sensitive to air pressure. It's hard to keep a steady note and the recording probably exaggerates it. That's probably why people are talking about shaky notes or whatever.
just an observation: if your harmony was less complex the melody might come out less shaky. You're a fine musician no matter what you do. Thanks for sharing with all of us.
I can hear what you mean by shaky notes, but it's still not bad at all. The melody comes through great, and the harmony really works well with the melody.

Haha that's messed, I just watched this last film last night! I was wondering what it'd sound like on an ocarina. You did great!

Ps. Nausicaa was also a great movie! My favorite of Miyazaki's films is Howls Moving Castle.

Thank you! I find it makes the must magical sound. :) I think the Ocarina and guitar would play together well!

Sounds great! As for shakiness, it kind of works as a vibrato, so it's fine. I think both parts harmonized well with each other.

Thanks for the advice. I originally pulled the notes from the actual song that is played in the soundtrack. Glad I could share. :)

Nice playing! By the way, Laputa: Castle In the Sky is a reference to the book Gulliver's Travels right?
JohnnyW235 2 years ago
I've never really read Gulliver's Travels. I'll have to look into that.

@JohnnyW235 I think you're thinking of liliput the town in Gullivar's Travels
