  • Yeah, those are nylon gears. They don't have breakaway teeth, but every 5 years or so it'd be good to pull the cover off and grease the gears. These are meant to run with a little bit of grease in between the teeth. When that runs out or dries up, the worm gear starts eating the drive gear.

  • @NicksGarageDoor That is a great tip. It'll certainly extend the life of the nylon gear.

  • Hi great vid, I have sears caraftsman garage opener model 41A3066 which kit do I need to buy? Thanks so much!

  • @farstarfilm I ordered from Amazon. For the whole kit, you can try: 41C4220A Sears Craftsman Liftmaster Gear & Sprocket Assembly Kit

They are $23 or so. Good luck. Double by looking at your gears to see if it looks the same.

  • I need help with the safety sensors, my garage opener look very similar to this one and i dont know where to screw the wires into. right now all that is hooked up is the swich for the door. do the sensors hook up right there also?

  • Hilarious voice

  • i recently fixed my buddies 92 model Craftsman .. not a hard task . about 35 minutes was spent adjusting the unit to operate again ..

  • @GHWTVideos It's not all that hard but there's a certain amount of danger involved when you're working with a motor and chain and a heavy spring tensioned door. That's why I don't want to give an impression that it's an easy job. Your buddy is good to have you as a friend.

  • @wtam69 thank you! but i acctually took off the powerhead and just had it sitting on the toolbench when i fixed it because the hanger bracket had to be replaced.

  • your right

  • @sms373 I believe you could too. For me, it took five minutes just to climb up the ladder :))

  • Great job fixing it yourself!

What do you think that white gear is made of? Looks like nylon. Looks like it was designed from the start to wear out and need replacement.

  • @field16 The white gear looks like nylon. I'm being charitable, maybe the gears are designed to break off when it hits something so as to protect the motor. I know my snowblower has shear pins that break off to protect the engine. I did get 17 or 18 years of service out of that gear.

  • @wtam69 Hmm, that's a good point. Maybe it is a safety feature.

  • that's a good idea, I also take photos and video before I take something I am working on apart
