I just beat this game and am thinking of getting "Crack in time" but not "Quest for Booty", mostly because It's not a retail game and from what I've heard, The cliffhanger ending is yet to be resloved. Is this a good investment?

Hey, I have quest for booty. It's a smal game but it is a cool game, and it's not expensive. I beat it some times in a few days but I'm happy with the game. If I was you, I would buy it!

I got quest for booty before tool of destruction. Then I got tools and played that first. That 3 games are part of 1 story so if you're gonna play the last part first you don't get the story.
