  • Just looked for this on iTunes, not there. Didn't know the name of the song, thought it was the Sylvers but found out it was written for Foster. Also found out it was his birthday 3 days ago. And as big of a Jackson5 fan as I am, I thought this was a B-side song for years 'til the early maybe the early 90's. Still a nice song.

  • Well...SUPRISINGLY, the BOUNCE channel showed the actual performance w/Foster, Angie & Pat the other night! Hopefully, it'll be on YT shortly...I hope.

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY FOSTER!!!!!!! I was born Feb 27, Pisces RULE!!!!!

  • First time I have heard this, although I have heard the beginning sampled in another song. Really nice.

  • Dr. Dre and D.J. Yella sampled this song for the D.O.C.'s song "It's Funky Enough" back in 1989! :O

  • I could remember when this track came out, I went to the record shop and ask for the Jackson Five. In the early 70s It was The Sylvers! I still Love this record.

  • that is that ish.....

  • Awesome track

  • Then Gangstarr sample from Jamal Ahamd

  • Jamal Ahamd re done this song the strings makes it hot in the intro

  • ITS GETTING FUNKY ITS GETTING FUNKY

  • They playing a lot of the classic Soul Train episodes.. I hope they show Foster performing this track!

  • Why oh WHY isn't this on iTunes??!!?

  • 1989 The D.O.C. It's Funky Enough. I hope Foster got paid.

  • Just introduced to this song a few days ago And I love it.. I remember this group but had forgotten about them. They were so talented. I wish their parents had stayed together. I think everything would have turned out differently. Happy to remember them And listen .now.

  • I remember when I was N the 5th grade we did A dance 2 this song it was A hitsong @ the time.

  • THEY WERE FINE,FINE,FINE! THEY COULD BLOW!

  • was one of my favorite groups when i was a kid....

  • This song gets me everytime!!!

  • LATE and misinformed,so move on!

  • Classic! When Leon Sylvers was at his best

  • WHERE IS FOSTER SYLVERS ?

  • @parrish778 watch them on UNSUNG on TVONE

  • Comment removed

  • @parrish778

    jail

  • Just listen to the bass. Leon's got the bass talking!!!!

  • @Nanadsyl I soooo agree!! Love the bass line in this...it carries the whole joint!

  • Such a cute song. There is so much good music that radio stations should be jamming all the time And people, all ages should want to jump up And dance together sometime like we used to.

  • Yes it is funky enough. Misdemeanor is a mean ass jam, i actually think songs like this, "I Wish I Could Talk To You", "Fool's Paradise" & "That's What Love Is Made Of" are much better songs than the Sylvers bigger hits like "Boogie Fever" & "Hot Line", which are cool, but these jams are even better.

  • Summer of 1973!!!! The best!

  • One of the best Unsung episodes was on the Sylvers

  • @mrstanbmw The DeBarge story was good too, Baby Face said that the DeBarge family was ghetto...lol

  • @clavical1 you are right also it was very sad, the Ohio Players episode was very good also. To telll you the truth all of them are very good

  • @mrstanbmw Yep!......What did you think about the Billy Preston story ?

  • @clavical1 Like I said they were all good, didn't know Billy was gay and the fact that he was molested as a kid really messed him up real bad. He was trying to numb the pain with his drug use. But what a hell of an organist and performer

  • @mrstanbmw Yeah!......that's what I'm talkin bout, he was a hell of an organist,I love his performance with Eric Clapton on "my fathers eyes"

  • I hope Foster is out of the Pen last I heard he was doing hard time in Cali.

  • He is and doing well.

  • I love this song..and Im only 28 :)

  • OMG! I forgot all about these guys! The best! Not to mention these brothers were soooo Fine!!!! I wonder were they at today? This was the Jam! I'm going to look for I wish that I can talk to you baby! Thanks for posting.

  • Straight Dope.

  • Who thought this was The Jackson 5? LOL Well it's from their era. So I guess I can see the similarity with that. Great song! Thanks for posting. :-)

  • I heard this beat a Dre but I am shock that there were another kid doing Michael's Act guess they di did not have Motown money. Wow. Top 50 Hip Hop samples from complex DOT COM

    brought me here.

  • And still no Soul Train performance on Youtube!

  • Back in the day, a lot of people thought this was Mike....

  • @Salfox112: we had a K-Tel hits compilation LP from the 1970's with this on it, too. K-Tel!

  • Wow....Remember this guy

  • They grew up in my hood!! foster and my uncle were friends!! Watts !!!

  • @jacksondarryl34 Interesting. BTW,I'm hearing alot about Watts (Sylvers,Soul Train dancers, etc) was it live like that?!

  • @RememberTheTime09 I was about five years old when I first saw Foster( I think he was about 13) but from what I remember i was live!! Even as a kid i wished I was older!! things were so much better back then..Music and all!! My cousin used to dance on soul train...LOL

  • @jacksondarryl34 Thats pretty cool, thanks for sharing those memories!

  • It's the first time I heard this song since about 1976 when I last heard it on a K-Tel 22 fantastic hits record that someone had at the time. Wow!

  • Hey Rasberrykush1, I have never even heard of gary glitter, the name of the person that you said i was a number 1 fan of. So I typed in his name and I watched his youtube video "Rock and Roll". After laughing, I thought about you and I said "dam is your life that fucked up where you are just hating on everyone" Come on Rasberrykush1,you should enjoy life because it is too short. these music videos are here to make people happy, not the way they make you feel. Negative, unhappy, sad and angry!

  • "Bout to remake this....Yessssirrr!!!!

  • @77757891 you said that beautifully!

  • Hey Rasberrykush1, why dont you go and find another youtube page to go on and antagonize people, because we here, are into the bumps and groove of Foster and his song. We are not hung up and fucked up about Fosters personal life like you are!!!

  • @77757891 Exactly and like 20 years late. Live and let live.

  • @Rasberrykush1 sorry that was for you

  • @Rasberry1 my son is 11yo and likes Foster as he sang Misdemeanor. There is no crime in that. What Foster did or didnt do as an adult is non of my concern. He has moved past that incident unfortunatley some people like yourself havent.

  • @Nanadsyl Indeed it isn't a crime but unfortunately for Foster Sylvers child molestation is. I am sure Foster Sylvers has moved on past the incident. I wonder if the victim of his heinous crime has also done so!

  • @Rasberrykush1 Yeah I hope they did. I hope all is forgiven because if you dont forgive you wont be forgiven.

  • Have not heard this tune in soooo long. Still groovy.

    Thank you

  • Rasberrykush1

  • Rasberry1, who really gives a fuck? Its the music and sounds that everyone is grooving on! Now, just because you let his personal life fuck you up doesnt mean you have to try and place your ill feelings and opinions on everyone else!!!

  • @77757891 Place you ill feeling and opinions on everyone else??????? I merely stated a fact. However, it is you who is responding with emotive comments. I see your also a number one fan of Gary Glitter.

  • "Frankenstein"....lol...this was the cut....people thought this was J5..only difference was that the Sylvers wrote their own songs. A++++

  • @shydmples lol It took me 40 years to find out what he was saying!!

  • @Nanadsyl lol so did i real good song!!

  • My11yo son was disappointed to learn Foster isnt 11 any morelol! He sings all The Sylvers songs.

  • @Nanadsyl Hell be even more dissappointed to learn that Sylvers Foster is on the national sex offenders register list!!! And it wasn't no misdemeanor!

  • @Rasberrykush1 Meant Foster Sylvers!

  • SOUNDS LIKE A YOUNG MICHEAL NICE

  • (but dontchu know) It's no big deal[Angie] (take it slow) she's not forreal![pat] (Let it go!) But you know I feel she stole my heart![foster] BUT ITS JUST A MISDEMEANOR You gotta get over it![Angie] Love traps, setbacks.....[Start over then add]: Whatcha gonna do? when I get through the goal and my friends all tell me when I'm playing the fool (too bad!) She makes you feel so outta place [Pat]

  • I seen buddy (Foster Sylvers) on soul train and thought this dude is jamming. Hot song.

  • I have this on vinyl! Thanks for posting! :-)

  • pete rock used this bassline in his beat- so funky

  • All of you who thought this was the Jackson Five, or Michael (solo) Jackson; shame on you.

  • @saratogaken

I didn't, I knew when I heard the song who they were! I'm going to look for the rest of their songs!

  • @saratogaken HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Great!!!!

  • All these people saying they thought this was J5 must be from another planet!!!

  • @Nanadsyl You have musical ears and know your groups....gotta LOVE IT!

  • OMG...what memories!

  • I heard this song on the radio many years ago though it was The Jacksons....now i'm hooked on this song.

  • Comment removed

  • i bet this song was song by the jackson 5. there goes my $5

  • @kenenkel There are female vocals :-) The music is just as classic as the Motown stuff, and he does sound like MJ at times, so I can see how you got robbed! lol!

  • I loved this song when I was a little girl. It's still the jam. It also reminds me of the holidays.

  • just like ABC by the Jackson's

  • @tiptaylor01 Yeah, "Misdemeanor" certainly has that infectious groove like "A B C", when you hear classic jams like these, you can't help but to nod your head back and fourth. I guess that's why D O C & Naughty By Nature sampled these great jams.

  • Sweet classic song! Cool vocals and harmonies.:=)

  • Bass line is straight up "fonky"!! Is this Leon on bass?

  • At first I thought it was the jackson as well..My ex boyfriend insist thay it was the jacksons. I should have bet his ass....I proved him wrong. Great song!!!

  • f*in amazing, thanks youtube commenters for helping me ID this song after I typed in "jackson 5 it's just a mystery" to google

  • THE D.O.C BROUGHT ME HERE........

  • @yadig102888 Same here

  • i really thought this was the jackson 5 when i first heard it i know alotta people thought the same way... D.O.C and Dre did a good sample of this song

  • Comment removed

  • Beautiful!

I always thought it was the Jackson Fives.

  • My childhood. nuff said! (Big Grin)!

  • How did you justify the girls(Angie & Pat) voices?! Or that the main voice(Foster) is higher than MJ's boy voice?! *Rhetorical questions*.

Rap Samples...kinda flattering to an artist or song but...improvement....RARELY(especially not in this case)! The original is the best. Thats why its been sampled so many times, not the remakes/remixes.

  • Comment removed

  • this very simple ole school cut......is better than 99.9.9.9%of the CRAP out there today.

  • I bang this classic hard in my truck every Summer. Everyone stay jamming to this when I'm parked up.

  • watchu talkin' 'bout The Ateeya? My sister and I had The Sylvers albums as well as The Jackson Five. Maybe it was East Coast thing growing up in B'klyn in the early '70s but we played them just as much. And Foster was a fine ass kid.

  • heard this on kdhx this afternoon ...sweet track ...they never cease to amaze me with their content

  • You can't tell me that this ain't where hip hop came from.

  • The D.O.C. sampled this track back in '89 on his debut album. This is a hot track!

  • @jacb630

    "Funky Enough".

Good thing because i wouldn't know or like this song - or know who they are.

back then rappers did justice to a sing, jmo.

  • @GrumpyOldAssFart Yes indeed. They just don't make good Hip Hop like that anymore. "Dre Made the beat so fu-fu funky!!!"

  • @GrumpyOldAssFart

    song not sing, sigh

  • OMG,CAN ANYONE SAY CLASSIC,He was sooooooooooo cute, and a nice singing voice what a BEAUTIFUL LOOKING FAMILY,you know it's sad that there were so many talented groups back in the days that didn;t get their props cause everyone was all into the Motown sound really people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @TheAteeyah

    I didn't know he was a singer?

A rapper but not a singer.

  • 5 dislikes....What's to dislike about this song?!? Really?! Love it! Had theee biggest crush on Foster Sylvers back in the day!

  • This song is just awesome.

  • Man this is bumping I could play this all day everyday !!!!

  • Oh my goodness I used to love this as a kid. I just loved this song so much. Always thought it was Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5.

  • @HippieNiecey So did I. I would've bet a million bucks that it was Michael Jackson, but it wasn't. They had that J5 sound.

  • LOVE THIS TRACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm 27 and I bumped into this song and I haven't got the ong out of my head since.

  • This song is so damn " FUNKY! "

  • So many good memories of this track and how well it used to go down when played out

  • Never sing a song about a ' MISDEMEANOR' when you grow up and become a FELON Just a joke but damn how ironic is that?

  • @InfinityNebula Damn!

  • @InfinityNebula Jokes aside, that's sad he ended up where he is today...it didn't have to be though.

  • @InfinityNebula I-K-R =)

  • Little Michael Jackson's Evil Twin. Funk Classic....lol

  • I brought my self here!

  • @xSouthSide13 Who's The D.O.C?

  • Funny how some people think/swear its the Jackson 5...under that theory 3 Sylvers could do that,2 of them being girls. Also I see this a bit too so & so sounds like MJ(not just here) but one never hears that about someone like Aretha.

  • @RememberTheTime09

well before I knew who they were, when I first heard this on the radio back in 1993, i did think it was The Jackson 5.

  • Well some people feel otherwise! Why must one feel they HAVE to say that on a Sylvers vid?! Come on! Dont be so easy! Chill cause the opinions aren't gonna change!

  • The Sylvers were an amazing group but better than The Jacksons???? I think not.

  • This is great! But I disagree that its better than Michael Jackson

  • @Chorizo240 Agreed. I've never even heard of this kid, but when i looked him up he looked like little Michael Jackson o.o

  • @Chorizo240 I know right??

  • if u like search dis!! (Nicki Minaj "Stole My Heart" Instrumental)

  • @RememberTheTime09 Wow,how do you do it!?

  • @RememberTheTime09 Foster was adorable indeed. Yeah he was styling with that cross chain. It cracks me up how they had that baby being sexy with his shirt unbuttoned and chest out like his brothers lol!!

  • Great song, just been made aware of it and seems underrated..Peace
