  • Thank you very much, sir.

  • Great job! It's almost identical in many regards to the originals, but because it's really done on the NES, it sounds even better! Great job, I really enjoyed your video and all the hard work you've done here!

  • Thank you all for the comments. I'm sorta getting tired of people telling me how wrong the soundtrack is without reading the txt file, though. Also keep in mind I did this in my spare time, for free. So yeah. I still appreciate the comments.

  • Nitroman sounded a bit fast.

  • @uscdrew1 As detailed in the TXT file, and in a few comments, and in countless message boards..I changed things to be more compatible with the 2A03 hardware. I made this soundtrack to be more like what Capcom would have done on the actual hardware, which meant speed changes had to be made to be more compatible with the 2A03's 60Hz timing.

  • The boss theme is just a bit off, but I'm sure it's easy to adjust.

  • @GamingCakes The FTM is in the ZIP file offered in the description, you're welcome to change anything you'd like as long as I get credit for the original song.

  • theres something wrong with commando's music

  • @kirbman10 As detailed in the TXT file, and in a few comments, and in countless message boards..I changed things to be more compatible with the 2A03 hardware. • I would love to play this on the nes.

  • The leads in the beginning of Get the Punk Out are just a LITTLE too long

    Otherwise perfect

  • @MasterQuest1984 All of 3, and was the other composer of 4.

  • 3:28 - 3:35 = The fastest boss fight in all of history.

  • you sir... are amazing

  • This is amazing. Btw, how long did it take you to learn famitracker? It's like another language to me.

  • @IBEHEATMAN Which effect specifically are you talking about? or by the "boss theme" do you mean the Wily stage boss theme effect? If that's it, it's a simple arpeggio. Check out the FTM in the archive, you can see how I pulled off all the effects in that.

  • Wow, sounds straight out of the game. Awesome stuff you got here. Nice MM9 soundtrack too. :)

  • tssf, you are amazing..

  • oh i see what you mean...anyway it's fantasic

  • wow sounds exactly like the game! oh and you forgot Portoman's theme but i don't care

  • Protoman's theme is a sound effect and not included on the official soundtrack, I could have included it seeing as though I had it in my other MM9 nsf.. but I figured everyone's heard that sound effect enough time.

  • According to The Mega Man Network, Bunbun did "Solar Man's" theme.. which is crazy, doesn't sound like something of his. There are other songs in the soundtrack that sounds like his. Proto Man's Shop, and ..I'm almost inclined to say Wily Stage 3 was done by either him or the Mega Man 4 composer.

  • geez, you're like a pro at this! It sounds exactly identical to the game!

  • I would like to thank everyone's nice comments. The NSF is updated the last time (I won't be making any more updates)

  • You are god of nsf you know that? XD

  • Otherwise, great! I absolutely love your recreation of Polluted Pump.

If the criticism sounded harsh or nitpicky, it's not intended. I just have trouble ignoring wrong notes when I hear them, even if they might not actually be wrong. So yeah, apologies in advance.

  • . As for the vibrato: Title has it later, harmony didn't so i added it in. Sheep Man's theme has vibrato, it's too fine to hear easily. I am weary of changing it because a deeper vibrator at those pitches tend to bend up and down a lot deeper than intended (it's not linear-based pitch bending. The higher the pitch, the deeper/faster the bends). Main menu is the same issue. As for Endless's note lengths: I tried it shorter, they're too short. 2A03 timing limitations are at work here.

  • I'm also surprised you didn't mention anything about Wily Stage 1's notes being too long in the outro or the "blip" part being too quiet. :P Wait you mentioned that you didn't download the NSF. Anyway NSF will be fixed, video will not be.

  • Understandable, I wouldn't think there'd much reason to reupload a ten minute long video just to prove the NSF is up to date.

Thanks for responding to my criticism, too. For the things that can't be fixed due to limitations, I kinda figured that was going to be a factor, considering the MM10 team was obviously not working with the NES' sound system. What you've made is still great for the people who either:

    1. Want MM10's music in NSF form, or

    2. Don't have my stupidly high standards. :P

  • Can't fix Endless. It's already at Q02. the "0" is the speed, the 2 is the note slide depth. If i transpose the note higher by one, and then modify the Q02 to be Q01, then the slide is too fast, and you cannot go below 0 to make it slower. You'll have to live with Endless Attack's slide.

BTW glad you liked Pump Man's music.

  • Suspicion's second square wave has a couple off notes. At 036, it should be an F#. At 084, it should be a G. I'm fairly sure of this.

In the boss music, the alternating notes in the square channels fade in too quickly.

I think the sliding notes in Challenge Mode don't slide up that much. Same goes for the high notes in Endless Mode.

On the subject of Endless Mode, once it gets past the intro, the notes in the second square channel blend into each other too much.

  • I have a ½ speed version of the song recorded from the dolphin emu, I checked every note one by one, can't hear any problems. You're welcome to point them out if you hear them. Type in ṮḭṉẏṸṜḸ᷊ᵓᵒᵐ's addressand put this after the slash "yhr4phx"

The boss music fades - I've reworked them about 4 times. First, too slow, then they're too fast. I'm happy with where they are.

Endless and Challenge. They probably bend too far (2 notes instead of 1) .. easily fixed

  • If you don't mind, I'm gonna post a bit of criticism here. I haven't downloaded it yet, so this is all just from the video.

Nitro Rider seems a bit fast, while the Boss and Wily Boss themes are a bit slow.

I'm pretty sure neither Cybersheep's Dream, the menu music, nor the title screen music have any vibrato, though I could be wrong.

You've got one extra note in Solar Inferno's intro. It only sounds like it has two notes because of the triangle wave toms.

  • I don't have an extra note in Solar's intro, I just have it cutting out too many times, so that's fixed. Timing issues are explained within the TXT of the archive. Unlike MM9, I favoured 2A03 compatibility in terms of timing, whether something's faster or slower. Endless Attack is an example, and faster for this reason. 150bpm for that song is preferable than 147bpm (the correct tempo) and having glitches everywhere.

  • I love you, mat!

  • Sounds fantastic! Great work with this as always

  • Nice, even got the Bass stuff.

  • No S3Ms this time? My WinAMP is sad now. T_T This is still freakin' awesome, though. I was waiting for this! Thank you!

  • No S3Ms, that's on purpose. Trust me, some of the things the instruments are doing, S3M could not do them unless I tracked at a speed setting of "1" ..which is NOT going to happen :P Hahaha.

  • @tssf Sounds to me like some sacrafices had to be made here and there besides. Whether that was because of natural Famicom Sound Chip limitations or just overwhelming frustration, though, I can't say. XD Still, it's a damn fine bit of work! And might I add, a major contribution to the ever-growing "Chiptune" fandom.

  • Hm. And on that note, Track 37 ("Final Wily Stage") is a bit fast in the NSF... This I know because I spent so much damn time analyzing it when I did my own MIDI rendition. ^_^;

  • Great work, as always, tssf. I look forward to what is yet to come.

  • Wow, great work tssf! I didn't expect to see this so soon, but it sure is a nice surprise. I will have fun listening to MM10's soundtrack in true 8-bit NES style. Your efforts are truly appreciated.

Also, thanks for providing technical notes with the download. I found it interesting to learn about what tricks the musicians used that the original NES hardware doesn't support.
