@GeeHadForDummies If you want to know our beliefs on whether there is a god or not, we believe there is something out there, but man has tried figuring out the answers by creating religion and just so much complex thoughts that would be too much to put in comment form.
@GeeHadForDummies Sorry for the clip being a bit long, we've had a long history of religion and it just flows through us. We try to give a neutralistic point of view while expressing our opinions on religion and things we've researched. We're pretty much sick and tired of only extremist atheists or radical religious folk getting all the attention. We have more videos on religion and we do get more into detail about our views of God and I encourage you to stick around.
Rape a married woman vs. a virgin: Deuteronomy is the 5th book in the old testament which makes it part of the Torah, the Jewish bible. Being part of the old testament, it is now classified as a history book since new laws were addressed in the New Testament. If you look in the King James Version, is says that if a man rapes a married woman he will be killed. If he meets a virgin and beguiles her and they have premarital sex, he will have to go by Jewish laws, marry her and pay for her.
@fairytaleending4me Even though you made a good point in that the Old Testament is the 'History book', in the New Testament, Christ orders for ALL of God's teachings to be followed (ex. 2 Timothy 3:16, Matthew 5:18-19, Matthew 5:17) so yes that means following both the goods parts of the OT & the bad parts of the OT such as these versus (Judges 11:29-40 - Jephthah burning his daughter for burnt offering, Exodus 21:20-21 - It's ok to beat your slaves as long as they can work the next day)
First of all, Christianity is the ONLY religion where there is a LIVING God. Also, Jesus died in order to take our mistakes upon himself so we would not have to be punished for them. This is where we have the choice of accepting Christ into our lives and being "Christians" and go to heaven or to reject or just not accept and pay for it in hell. I believe that society has added and taken away from what God called us to be. Christian is a man made word. Christ follower is what God wants us to be.
@fairytaleending4me As far as the KJV saying that the verse says something different than the NIV, NAB, etc. it should raise some suspension that the 'Word of God' has been altered at some point from the original Hebrew and Greek, since the word of God is not supposed to have alternative versions of a verse.
@MultiRaiha Everyone has a choice to believe in whatever they want, and we agree with this. We just hate it when we're pushed to believe in something, especially by the supposed religious people that don't 'practice what they preach' (Testament reference lol...just had to do that).
For those that can't see Faded's comment, I accidentally deleted it while responding to his comment he made on the video. Here's a copied version of the comment he made since it's still in my inbox.
FadedHolySoldier: 'yea but i heard the raping part in the bible was taken out of context... suppoedly it means something else.. there was a video i saw on youtube about it.. just look up "rape in the bible" i think someone deepens there thoughts on this topic'
@FadedHolySoldier (comment #2) Just found another video talking about the rape passage in the Bible here (/watch?v=OBWmX992FIo). I'm just surprised that one verse may be interpreted that way and yet in Leviticus it's a tad more clear justifying gays being killed for being gay while in the same book it states to 'love thy neighbor as thy self' (Leviticus 20:13, Leviticus 19:18) not to mention that contradicts the 6th commandment of the 10 commandments God supposedly made in the Bible.
@FadedHolySoldier (Comment #1) Just got done watching that video you were talking about. That's a pretty interesting video. In one part he basically says because the woman was of property rights of the father, the rapist has to pay the silver & then buy the silver. Still think the rapist got off a little easy there. I'll post a link of this video for the other people reading the comments to see (/watch?v=oBi4atyLv7o)...(continuing to comment #2)
well made. links provided ,comments stated, contradictions pointed out. i've gotta say you did a pretty damn good job!
4:00 it's like the woman is being punished for not being married quick enough but regardless of that , rape is still a sin(supposedly). fucked up and barbaric..... Maybe it was the writing of the devil instead of god.
to answer the ghouls question : i think Christianity is monotheistic because i don't include jesus the son of god as a god himself.
@VANILLAAPPLEANDBLING Thanks man, religion is a pretty big subject for us. Just wait until we come out with Part 2 and 3 (Part 2 will be out tonight and 3 later on in the week to space it out) and we do what we can to provide evidence so we don't look like jackasses haha. I agree with that rape statement, I believe the Bible was altered to fit certain people's satisfactions. That's a pretty good opinion you have on the monotheistic side of things. What got us there is the contradictions and.....
@VANILLAAPPLEANDBLING the passage in Revelations (I believe it was revelations) that says that even Jesus doesn't know when the second coming (or the Apocalypse) will happen but only God knows, which would mean that they're two people.
@GuitaristAndTheGhouI true , have you ever heard of karma ? some of it can be pretty fucked up like in the saw movies rofl some people go by karma as a religion. I'ts basically based on that saying "what comes around goes around" which may be bible related in some way, i heard that saying somewhere before just thought i'd point that out.
@VANILLAAPPLEANDBLING Yea we know of karma, and I believe that karma plays a role in life in some cases, like a cause and effect type thing rather than religious belief imo. I wouldn't be surprised if it was in the Bible and then debinked in another book of the bible lol.
@mrrandomxbox Yea, and I hope you didn't get offended with our video because this was not our intention but to question certain things about religion. It completely sucks that anyone in general gets bashed for the simple reason of having their own belief system. Our view on this is, as long as you know what you believe, go ahead and believe it.
@mrrandomxbox I'll go ahead and check ppsimmions out. Again, thanks for sharing your thoughts on this video. Scream and I had these thoughts in our heads for awhile and wanted to make a fun discussion video about this and so far I think it's working. This was not meant to be offensive but we simply had a lot of unanswered questions (since at our schools and families, we couldn't question anything) that we wanted answered and more to come with the other 2 parts :)
@mrrandomxbox Yea the Bible tends to be confusing half the time lol. I appreciate you showing your opinion on the subject. I also have no clue which translation is legit and which is not. I guess the only way to find out is to find the original translation to the Bible and get a translator to translate it since the Bibles been translated to so many different versions & languages that it's bound to have flaws. Stay tuned for the other 2 parts, where we talk about different situations in religion.
@mrrandomxbox (In response to comment #2) That is strange that the KJV Bible and the NIV Bible say 2 different things in that part of the Bible, it almost seems like the Bible has been altered to fit a certain denominations likings. NIV is what we used throughout the entire video when quoting verses. If 2 different Bible's are saying 2 different things, then that proves to us that the Bible itself isn't 100% accurate. This doesn't alter our thoughts on God though.
@mrrandomxbox (in response to your comment #1) We're aware that the Bible took several men to write, after all the book is 2000+ years old lol. During that part, we have stated that it's a good thing that the man got his punishment for doing that to the married woman, but how the man would be haunting the life of the virgin woman by marriage is what got us about that whole thing.
I also think the sins of your ancestors was a much more broad, less specific and personal statement about how your family line for ages has essentially screwed you over, and I don't think it overlaps onto the immediate generation of you and your parents and punishment..
@AlexTheSoutherner As far as the sins of your ancestors, I hope it is the fact that you stated, then again like we said in the video, it may be what you interpret the verse to be and so on. Oh and as far as updates, yea we're trying to get some stuff done before Scream goes away for what may be a few months of so haha and it's all cool man, let us know when you get new content on your page.
As strane a punishment marrying a rape victim may sound, as I think he's getting off easy like you guys do, I can kinda see the idea there. Basically you don't go screw a woman against her will without consequence. Especially back then when there was no protection. If you're going to be an asshole like that, then you've got to man up and be legally bound to her and provide for her and any kids she may have til the day you die.
@AlexTheSoutherner Appreciate you showing your opinion on the subject bro, Yea I do see your point in the man taking responsibility in providing for her, but there better be some people on patrol of that guy and make sure he doesn't do anything to harm her again, otherwise off to getting stoned. Now us personally, we would give the guy a good stoning like the guy in (Deut 22:25) or at least time in jail and a restraining order, but that's just our take on this.
@GeeHadForDummies If you want to know our beliefs on whether there is a god or not, we believe there is something out there, but man has tried figuring out the answers by creating religion and just so much complex thoughts that would be too much to put in comment form.
