  • There were WAAAAY more differences than just mazes in Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man.

  • A company called GCC (General Computer Corporation) made a hack of Pac-Man, therefore changing up the formula a bit. They named it Crazy Otto, the main character being a Pac-Man with legs and a backwards blue eye, and the monsters/ghosts had antannae and... feet!

They showed the game to Midway and they were so impressed with the hack so they bought the rights to the game. They want to release it under the Pac name, and they chose Ms. Pac-Man, changed the title screen, added sounds, and released.

  • @NESAtariSegaNerd Thanks for the refresh, I knew it was along those lines. If only they taught video game history in school.

  • @ArcadeGames Your welcome. Thanks for subscribing to my channel! I will be making reviews of home console and arcade games soon, if you have any questions about anything retro game related, shoot me a message! :)

  • Other games that Midway released under the Pac-Man title like Jr. Pac-Man, Baby Pac-Man, Professor Pac-Man, and more caused Namco to stop their relationship with Midway to distribute Pac-Man games after the release of Pac-Land. Namco bought the rights from Midway for Ms. Pac-Man since it was a hit and such a great game.

  • That's actually a reproduction bezel from Twobits.

  • @NESAtariSegaNerd It probably was, who knows. As long as it looked good.

  • @ArcadeGames Yup. Their bezels were the best compared to their other crummy parts.

  • That's a speedy Pac game.

  • @nwest1140 Some people like it, some people don't. Me personally, I think it's a good change from the slow version. I left regular Pac slow, so it's the best of both worlds.

  • Thumbs up if your reading this.

  • @xXCoDCornerXx Net celebrity. Get some

  • @D00MEDST lol i was bored

  • To think, this game wasn't sanctioned by Namco. I always thought it much better than the original Pac-Man.

  • @DJCandyManMike I think originally it was created as a upgrade/mod by a few programmers. I can't remember exactly. It was adopted by Namco, and I think the license was abused with later games like Baby PacMan and so on.

  • @ArcadeGames

As I understand it, the game was turned over to Namco, and they weren't happy that the game was made without their authorization, but at the same time, they also said that Ms. Pac-Man was a very good game. And you're right, Midway didn't learn their lesson. 4 more unauthorized titles later, Namco said, "Here, Midway. We're giving you Pac-Land to distribute, and after that, we're done!"

  • Where can I get a fast chip

  • MGS: Snake die's

    Normal: March 16, 1990.

    Slow: April 26, 1991.

    Fast: April 29, 1991.

    Reverse: September 4, 1991.

  • @holydeamonhunter Thanks for the awesome information?

  • I played both Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man with the speed chip

  • Those speed mods are ridiculous. You can't even control the damn character that fast.

  • Do you have plans to restore it or are you going to leave it

  • I think happ and xarcade still have crts

  • @TheNews1990 Yes, some vendors still have them in stock, but for how much longer? I don't think there will be any shortage of CRT's for along time, but one day it could be different.

  • It looks to me liker the speed up chip is making it more difficult to control Ms Pac.

It is a very good find. I wish I could get hold of a Pac-man or Ms Pac-man machine some day, although the prices being charged to collectors is going up now, making that unlikely.

Now that CRT monitors are no longer being made, it is going to be difficult to get the old games looking like they are supposed to.

  • @BoingotheClown Yes, it is very hard to control her! I think only 19 inch crts are being discontinued, I'm not sure about other sizes. There is no point of making them anymore, everyone has moved to flat panels. You can hardly give a CRT away for free...unless you are a collector and need it.

  • Yeah it's a little beat up,but it can be restored.I'd love to get my hands on a cheap project Ms.Pac cab.

  • Love Pac-Man/Ms.Pac-Man just great classic games.

  • Sonic the Hedgehog must have shared some of his speed juice with Ms Pac-Man. Would there be any way to restore it back to factory speed?

  • @Stinger2578 Yes, it can be restored back to the original speed:)

  • are you an arcade operator ...i love ms.pacman ..it's a true classic i remember when this hit hte local arcades back in the days ..love the spedd of this game cool video cool :)

  • @techromancer1 No, I'm not an operator, more of a humble collector/reseller. Thanks for the comment!

  • Woah Ms.Pacman is on crack! That speed up chip is crazy!

  • @jumblejunkie Yeah, she needs to go to rehab for her speed addiction...
