  • Jon looks like Kevin Bacon.

  • I think all the musicians who donated their time and talent deserve kudos for traveling out and performing for free on a moment's notice. It also must've been emotionally difficult to do so. Thanks also to everyone who made this show possible behind the scenes. I will always be grateful to the brave souls who dealt with 9/11 and its aftermath; especially those who gave their lives for other's sake.

  • I still prefer the original song.

  • Too bad you didn't get the story one of the presenters told before this. It was about a priest and rabbi worked in one of the buildings and were close friends. One (I want to say the priest) was disabled and had trouble getting out. His friend stayed with him. They both died. So, the line "take my hand, we'll make it, I swear" gets me everytime.

  • How can ppl dislike this?

  • @richie12901 Who cares. It can be completely red.

  • 343 likes. Leave it as it is. RIP 343 FDNY.

  • Best version by far...

  • I see nowhere on this thread any mention of the very personal connection Bon Jovi had to the 9/11 event. Dave's sister was in the WTC and thankfully survived. Jon's local Fire department in Jersey was the one who lost almost their whole department. This wasn't just another show for them. and I think their participation was awesome!!

  • @racefreakmel Its on here now, and thank you!

  • hell ya

  • 4:41 Sylvester Stallone (Rocky) on Piano :L ....

  • this whole concert was put together in a very short time, on a moment's notice and it was in tribute to those who died during 9/11 and the emergency crew workers who did so much and made many sacrifices, even their own lives to save others. You cant expect every performance to be like it was on the record. and in this case Bon Jovi intentionally changed the osng to make it suit the sad mood more

  • I reallly wish they didnt skip the solo in dead or alive, its epic

  • wdoa was perfect for this concert and you got him well done

  • great track but lets face it the who rocked the gig

  • God bless the USA and UK for the music they have produced over many years.

  • God bless the USA and UK for the music they have produces over many years.

  • Was the concert 2007?

  • @LizinLouie it was the concert for new york after 9/11 it was late september or early october 2001

  • correction not god bless... AMERICA FUCK YEA!!! we win

  • this version was done on the album "this left feels right" which has remakes of their songs done in different styles. Pretty cool I think!

  • Bon Jovi is playing in my hometown Winnipeg tonight.I respect this band but they could not hold a candel to the Who,who owned the concert for 9_11.Listen to Bon Jovis words.make a lot of sense to me.

  • @heywoodejerblowme ...What?

  • sorry who is the aditional keyboard player? what`s his name

    Thank you

  • These songs were definitely on Slipper When Wet....just thought i'd share with the class

  • @scholtenseric Yes they were...grew up with this cassette, yes cassette tape, playing in the car till the tape snapped. lol

CHRIS 9/11/01-Godspeed brother. The streets of heaven are safe on your watch.

  • With all due respect to their new music, this was and always will be their best stuff. New Jersey was an awesome album.

  • @thisischavez especially because these songs are on New Jersey. :/

  • SEE ON VIOLINST 023.. in 2008 recorded "lost higthway" whit Bon jovi...

  • I love ritchie's voice, it's brilliant. For what I've seen lately, I think it's in a better state than jon's lately. And he's one of the best guitarists of all time

  • cool double neck guitar- why does it have 2 necks?

  • @ 4FabBEATLES:

the upper neck has 6 strings (used for Livin on a Prayer) and the other one's got 12 (used for WDOA). it's Ritchie's main acoustic guitar in that period

    Great performance, love it

  • @4FabBEATLES Cos Richie is a Guitar God.

  • cool cool cool........nice song

  • COWBOY

  • i personally like when hes like screaming ooh ooh were halfway there, livin on a prayer

it just seems more "bon jovi-ey"

  • @mmorpgman101 - I know what you mean, this one is almost too mellow for Bon Jovi, but I like it. The original is still better. (Talking of "Livin on a Prayer," of course.)

    Bon Jovi-ey--I like it! :)

  • me too, but this was the concert for NYC, this seemed a little more appropriate for the occasion

  • perfect

  • yeah, but jon has the more unique voice

richies INSANELY talented, but it wouldnt be bon jovi with anyone else on vocals

  • Jon is the natural lead singer and frontman. But I personally like Richies style better.More blues-rock feel to it. But what a great duo!

  • ive always wanted to get my hair either like richie's like it is now, or the way jon's was in the 80's

  • Yeah but John is the hot one that is all that matters!!

  • richie is as good as john. usually he sings a third higher than john ... have a look at richies solo album .... stranger in this town .... great music ... best regards ....

  • is it just me or is richie a better singer that jon?

  • dam use 2 be good roc but they turned into contry thats sad they use 2 be 1 of the greatest bands ever

  • agreed

  • i don't like the direction bon jovi has taken.

  • scream basterds

  • I love Bon Jovi, always have, always will !

  • Richie Sambora is an awesome guitarist!

  • the best

  • there goes the 17th version of wanted and prayer in my ipod .. lol

  • i just don´t know why are you watching this

video if you don´t like it......wtf

  • it's a big success

  • I'm not a big BJ fan but this is a great song and for a great cause..God Bless America!!!

  • Not a big Bon Jovi fan either, but I love BJs.

  • haha that was funny man

  • God bless Bon Jovi

    Just great!!!

  • God bless the USA!!!!!

  • screw u

  • @neeonzen god bless the pussy

  • whats that double neck?!?!?1 looks and sounds good

  • It's a Taylor with a Koa body; don't go looking for it though, afaik there were only two made, this one and one Taylor kept.

  • yeah...double necks are sweet. always wanted to play one

  • awsome performance

  • great video

  • david bowie looks like a penut

  • This was not the opening of the concert. David Bowie singing Simon and Garfunkel's "America" opened the show. It was very poignant. 10 stars for Bon Jovi. Awesome!

  • 天哪~這根本就是來自天堂的聲音....

  • i like the up beat version a lot more than this

but this is still good :D

  • This song is a great song. Bon Jovi has done many different variations of it during his musical career. Stop arguing about it. Also, it strikes me as funny how every video on YouTube somehow sparks a debate as to which country is better... I wish people would just shut the fuck up about it once and a while and just enjoy the damn video instead of only going to it to see who he can take a verbal shit on next.

  • Jon Bon Jovi isn't his name?

  • The last name was spelled differently.

  • Getting old sucks. For everyone. Especially musicians. They make a song when they're younger and then they have to sing it a few keys lower when they get old cause they cant vocally hit the same notes anymore.

  • you have no idea what you're talking about smartass2st. Bon Jovi is just doing another version of their song. They rock, maybe you should see their recent video of this song.

  • Actually I do know what Im talking about. I play music. Im not saying Im great. But I know alot about music. And about singing. And I know for a fact that he cant hit the same notes live as he could when he was younger. Im not bashing him. Iv seen him play the original version but its still played a few keys down. Most people cant tell. But I can. And so can other people that know about music. So stop getting mad.

  • How many millions of records have you sold, moron?

  • oh so you're another one? Someone that gets put in their place and has nothing else better to do or say than to correct my spelling? I'll screw up on my english while you screw up on music. I can deal with that. It dosnt matter if I spell my words wrong, as long as people still understood what I wrote. Which you understood what I wrote, am I right? Then I got my point across. Beat it NOOB!!!!!

  • It's prayer '94 style. The normal version wouldn't be very fitting to what this concert was for.

  • Ok dude. Whatever you say. HE CANT DO THE NORMAL FUCKING VERSION IN THE EXACT SAME KEY AS HE USE TO ON ALBUM. GET OVER IT. ITS TOO MUCH STRAIN ON HIS VOICE. IM NOT WRITING ABOUT THIS NO MORE.

  • so..... who cares about the key of the song.... still an amazing song no matter what key it is sung in....

  • @Fumbbladmin I agree and also enjoy this key better

  • @Fumbbladmin

The key MATTERS FUCK YOU!!! YOU DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT MUSIC YOU FUCKING HISPANIC BASTARD!!!

  • the original was 20 times better. no offense

  • Bon Jovi did an awesome job at this concert!! They toned down the rock songs for the people of NY. But, the Who stole the show by saying screw you!!!!!! We're gonna put on a rock show and let you forget about everything for a little while.

  • really bon jovi is great but this version of Livin on a Prayer... damn it look like the John Denver version.

  • I was so happy this song was the opening for this great concert. Tommy and Jeanie represented all the people who were just living their lives on September 11th, 2001 when America changed forever. Bon Jovi rocks!!! America Will Prevail!!!!!!!!

  • its good that the bands did what they did for new york fdny nypd etc. no music industry or "celebrities" just the people affected by the horrors of 9-11. those are the real hero`s. you could tell the affect it had on america (im from scotland) and it was terrible what happened that day

  • It was a shocking day when America was attacked but it was wonderful to see this concert brought us all together. America is a diverse country and we all need to stick together when something like this happens. We are the greatest country ever and I don't want to live anywhere else.

  • yeh. i dont know where u are from but i am patriotic to scotland and dont agree agree america is the greatest nation on earth. im not sayn scotland is either but i believe if we are equal then it would solve a lot of problems.

  • I don't think real time cares, i know i don't. and if you live in the usa and you don't think that usa is #1 then i can point you to the nearest airport to get the hell out. This country doesn't need people who think this country isn't the best place in the world to live. and don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out.

  • the who stole this show. nuff said.

  • Eric Clapton and The Who both did

  • like i love eric clapton and the who but i think the who played better songs and stole the show

  • where is the Stetson Mr Sambora

    lol

  • Thanks bud...Bon Jovi has a really good complexion in this vid.

  • Livin on a prayer represents the difficult times of life for everyone.

to bad that we all suffer from the crisis caused by the USA

  • thank god i live in canada =) but obama will fix ur guys debt problem

  • When was this?

  • The Who dominated this show

  • just great... perfect...

  • Tom and Jeanie represent everyone in America. Hard working Americans who just went to work on September 11th, 2001 when life changed forever. Perfect song to open this concert for NYC, the greatest city in the world!!!

  • I LOVE U JON!!!!

  • Very nice guitar, Richie...

  • The way the country seems to be heading I think the title of the song says it all. GBA

  • ahahah Funny !

  • OH thats why they sold millions of albums becaise richie sang.

  • Bongiovanni?? ^o) it was John Bongiovi

    fool.

    awesome video XD

  • take Richie out of Bon Jovi you have no Jovi, because in french Bon means good and thats what Richie brings...the good in music..he plays with soul...long live the Rich

  • shut the fuck up shit fucker

  • lol

  • Bongiovanni is the Italian surname of John the singer.Anyway each member of this group is a good one

  • Bongiovi* lol

  • Unplugged is great, but I like the awesome electric guitar to it. And Jon isn't putting all the power he could into it. But unplugged is how they were gonna perform this, and for that it is an awesome performance.

  • As good as Bon Jovi is....this night simply belonged to the Who...anyone who was there will tell you they stole the show

  • were guys in fight that night cuz Jon didnt look at Richie & on the end of the show during freedom, they stand really far from each other;(

  • There's nothing wrong with his "pipes", Bon Jovi toned it down for this concert cuz of what happened. They shouldn't have. The Who came in and ROCKED!!!! They gave all the people the release they desperately needed.

  • bon jovi is a great band and so are all of the other people, i can't belive that you people are still fighting over this video, this is a video for new york and those you gave their lives for us!!!!!!! grow up!!!!!!!!!

  • Jon Bon Jovi in a cowboy hat....and I thought he couldn't get any more gorgeous!

  • This is wonderful..

I love it the Acoustic :]

    LOVE IT.

Notice Jon is wearing the Cowboy hat haha.

    Not Richie.

    :]

  • Makes you think if they got the "METAL PIPES" anymore...when they chicken out from the original highnotes. Richie came through as usual.

  • I like this unplugged version. It went right along with the mood of the show

  • richies vocals aren't bad. wat a great band. theywere made for each other

  • sorry bon jovi fans, but the who stole this show...

  • Totally agree, they were sensational ... but remember that are 2 bands of different eras with different styles, so there are for different tastes. Now Bon Jovi gave a presentation, but low profile, with excellent acoustic versions, but that does not compare with the "complete" versions... The whole concert was great and a great cause!

  • you sucked looking for confrontation go somwhere else

  • Are you crazy?

Get the hell outta here noone needs you're negativety towards The Band.

    How so did it suck?

    You're outta your mind.

  • ABSOLUTLY A GREAT VERSION, I LOVED!!

I remember when i was a teenager.. woooow what times eh!!! I still like Bon Jovi :)

  • ABSOLUTLY A GREAT VERSION, I LOVED!!

  • ABSOLUTLY A GREAT VERSION, I LOVED!!

  • one of great rock band!

  • have you ever listened to Love Reign O'er Me or Won't get fooled again? Love Reign O'er Me got voted the best rock vocal performance ever on digital dream door, Bon Jovi was not on the list

  • It doesn't matter if you like the artists that played this concert, if you think one is a better musician then the other...This show was for one thing, to pay tribute to New Yorks Bravest and Finest.

  • one of my top 5 songs of all time!! this song is the "breed" of my heart!!! 5 STARS!!

  • WHAT is fiddle girl doing there?! :O

    Jon and Richie...love you!

  • hi dazza458 thank you for posting such video i really love this accoustic one i love this(bon jovi)

  • I am not sure but it seems Jon put on some perfume on his face.

  • i always get the shills when they sing it like this! So beautiful, so pure! i love it!

  • i have to say that i prefer this acoustic version. it is so beautiful played like this. i just wish it was longer.

  • what year?

  • 2001. It's the Concert for New York after 9/11/01, this is 4/4/02. Love you, JON BON JOVI.

  • And thanks for posting this up for us. It's one of the best performances I've seen ......

  • I like their acoustic versions. This Left Feels Right is an incredibly underrated album from what I've seen. You can't beat classic 'Rock-Out' Jovi, but they're incredibly strong on an acoustic level too.

  • Allow me to rephrase. The crowd made more noise for The Who because their performance aroused the senses of the crowd more than Bon Jovi's did. Quite simply, The Who were more entertaining. The choice of words is irrelevant. I have friends who were at that gig and say The Who were the best band on the night.

Be big enough to admit it. You're just wrong.

  • nah, basically i see it as this - bon jovi is better period.

dont continue to argue because your the one who is not big enough to admit bon jovi was better than them on the night.

  • Are you really comparing Bon Jovi to The Who. Its no contest. Watch the videos to both bands, and listen to the crowd, then take yourself outta denial.

  • well the rock says..............
