  • Born in '73 and I still like to see a band from "our generation" covering something like the Who my dad was a huge Keith fan too RIP Pops LOVE YOU !

  • pathetic

  • I love the way the audience are singing along. The Who's influence stretches for miles. God bless Eddie Vedder for his love of The Who. Peace.

  • First heard Eddie's version on the Chapters album, and loved it.

  • theyre pretty big who fans which i didnt know, cuz they do baba o riley

  • perfeita versão!!

    great versão!!

  • This is NOT a "joyful" song. It's a sad and thoughtful song about having to leave someone you love even though it is with people you trust. Eddie does a great take on it.

  • gotta respect vedder because he is such a who fan. and people who say that pearl jam suck dont understand what real rock and roll is. also the true rock fans from the ninties who hate need to get over it. this band kicks ass

  • I love this song, it doesn't matter if it's The Who or pearl Jam who is singin' it...

  • what a load of bollocks !!

  • the Who kicks PJs ass

  • "Eddie Vedder warming up the crowd" it says

LOL the crowd sounds ready to ignite already :)

    Must've been one good gig.

  • I don't mind, others guys dance with my girl

  • And why do you say that? Roger Daltrey has been quoted saying that he thinks that PJ is the one band that carries on The Who's legacy.

  • What the fuk u talkin bout? That was AWESOME! Pearl Jam has always been my favorite band that I never supported, I luved their music but nevr got round to really gettin truly in to them! But i am a major Who fan and Pearl Jam gives the Who nothing but respect..and u know what? Pearl Jam is AWESOME and I luv them even more Rodger knew what he was talkin bout. Vedder did an unbeleivable job covering that classic solo! I luv him (but not in a gay way) Eddie has all my Pete Townsend respect!!!!!

  • i agree but its full of "PJ" fans watching this so your in a losing battle

  • i was at this concert. this was probably the best time i've ever seen Pearl jam

  • Vedder is the great guitarist who will never be thought of for his guitar. Pearl Jam gets a lot of shite for their supposed blandness and lack of indie cred. Bullshit...yes, their biggest anthems more stadium fodder than anything...but they're still good...and ironically, way better than the supposed neo- punk that somehow fills a 15000 seat arena. And I'd like to see Linkin Park have Neil Young, Bob Pollard, or Mike Watt give them the time of day.

  • It's great to see them doing a who song. THE WHO LIVES ON!!!!

It's a pretty good cover too.

  • CINCINNATI!?! What the hell! Where was I?

  • Its great to hear the Cincinnati crowd able to cheer for a Who song. Us fans still remember the tragedy and mourn it. What a great town!

  • @sauciest1 Well said...I take Pearl Jam playing it as a tribute to the people of CIncinnati. They are smart dudes....it's not lost on them. Not a coincendense. Pearl Jam also had a similiar tradgedy at one of there show in Europe....Eddie says Pete helped him deal...

  • hey jimmy go fuck yourself and better yet get over yourself you self richous loser

  • usually i don't like it when pearl jam covers the who especially when they did "Love Reign O'er Me" (that was terrible) he had a nice twist on the song playing it slow without drums and backup vocals. but the use of "fucking" was completely uncalled for and ruined the beauty of the song.

  • You'll notice Daltrey occasionally says fucking too. The Who were a huge prefigure to punk you know, they had the attitude and the distorted guitars, there's even a video on here of Townshend playing "So Sad About Us" with Paul Weller of the punk band The Jam, great stuff. Videos pretty neat too.

  • It bothers me when the last generation (mine) doesn't respect the next one for taking artistic

license in covering songs. This is a sign of admiration and respect to the original band. It brings the music to a new generation. Green Day, Pearl Jam, The Jam (a Mod, not Punk band) and countless others have all given the Who this tribute.

  • I hope you don't think that's what I'm doing. I very much support bands putting their own twists and such on covers, makes it more exciting and probably more of an homage.

And on the Jam, it's up for debate. Mod style and sound but you can't say that the album In The City doesn't fit nicely with a lot of '77 punk albums. But I agree with both sides really.

  • I was just pointing out that the Who were pretty wild and not necesarily above improvising some exclamatory curse words into songs.

  • They played this in 2000 at Riverbend concert in Cincy and Eddie made a nice speach about their connection with the Who due to their recent concert tragedy which happened on that tour.

  • I think they were supposed to. But I havent heard anything about it since before hey went on sale. Im going to all 3 days.

  • "Aw shit" was the collective groan from the men's room. I am hoping to see them in chicago, do you know if they're selling single day passes?

  • I was in the pisser when he started this song, what a pisser! I caught it in about the middle. What a show, what a crowd! They were rained out last time the stopped by so man were we ready!

  • That sucks.. Atleast next time you know not to go to the pisser that early.

Are you going to see them at Lollapalooza?

  • @mikeyrod1979 yea i had tickets to that one too..that was the only show that tour that was cancelled. They made up for it with this show! I was in line getting a hoodie and i heard him and ran to my seat. It was cool cause it was my first time leaving the kiddies at home with a sitter and I was worried. Then for Ed to come out singing the kids are alright..i knew it would be ok :)

  • It's a pity that whole band didn't play that...

  • The crowd was on fuckin fire at this show!

  • Thanks so much for sharing, this was such an amazing concert. Crowd was awsome and the music was wonderful

  • very cool. thanks for posting this.

  • amooooooooo

  • Yodle.
