  • OMFG this was one of the most intense moments in sports history. I actually developed a serious case of swamp ass when I was watching this and it was like 40 degrees in my house! I wonder if someone is going to develop a PS3 curling game. It would sell like hot cakes!

  • Petty arguments (like what's below) are absolutely antithetical to curling. Yes, curling does require a good deal of skill, fitness and intelligence. But while athleticism may be more necessary at the World Championship than a local Thursday night mixed league, sportsmanship, friendliness and respect for the sport's great traditions are vital in ALL levels of curling.

The IOC is plagued by greed and scandal. I'd say the Olympics need curling--the least cynical of sports--now more than ever.

  • I think the fact that this is a sport is hilarious lol

  • super gay!

  • lol canadians think this is a real sport =)

  • I think this is the most hilarious sport ever.

  • Does anyone know when/where sport this was invented?

And please don't answer when: in the winter. where: on ice : /

  • @davidrodgersNJ Curling originated in Scotland, when I don’t know…

  • i believe this game would be amazing if played as a drinking game

which, now that i think about it, canadians probably play it as a drinking game

  • @tgijustin

this is beautiful. and so true.

  • first time of me seeing this sport its kool i dont know any thing about it but looks like u would have to have skill to do it

  • This should not be considered as a sport since it requires NO athleticism. It's more like a hobby.

  • i know this sport gets made fun of a lot, but it's actually really difficult and takes a lot of strategy

  • what a waste of money to buy a curling video game phhh. rather donate money than buy that crap.

  • Apparently I've been living under a rock (ha, puns) as I have never actually witnessed a curling match before. This is seriously what everyone has their knickers in a twist over? Certainly it's not EXHILARATING for the viewer by any stretch of the imagination, but then again neither are many other sports (golf, bowling, darts, etc.) that networks cram into sports programming. I think humans simply tend to value displays of strength over strategy. The Romans worshiped Gladiators for 700 years.

  • Canadian shuffleboard

  • this game is way to intense

  • now these are real athletes ;)

  • im not gonna lie, this sport(athletic activity whatever) is hilarious. but if i had the chance to play i owuld for sure, it looks fun lol.

  • I'm surprised at many of these people that diss on sports that they've never played, yet bragging that "white people make up sports so they think they're good at something". These same armchair athletes probably wouldn't have the balance to stay 30 seconds on the ice without skates. What do these people do, troll YouTube looking for sports to make ugly comments about just so they feel like an athlete themselves?

  • Comment removed

  • shit is dope... put it on espn plz

  • curling kicks butt. This is a real sport, it takes

time and precises control and timming

to master it. Talk all you want about it not

being a sport, lets see you go and try it.

  • You dont get it. White people make up sports like these to compete in because the other races have took over the main sports everybody watch. They make up these sports so people will think their good at something in the olympics. :/

  • wtf what is the pont of this u slid and wat down the ice and two people sweep the ice i meen the people that sweed can u come to my house i well let u sweep my flor

  • I can't believe that Scotland participates in this canadian faggotry.

    Janitors on Ice. lmao

  • @castletriglav

    Scotland invented curling O_O

  • What is the position of the person that slides the ball called? Is it an important individual role in comparison to the broom guys?

  • Gayest Sport/Game Ever !

  • i can think of some more gayer sports

  • Try curling before you judge.

  • I know people probly don't wanna hear this, but curling was the most viewed sport during the winter Olympics if I rember right. I might rember wrong. I'm from the US, and don't understand the sport though and how its so popular.

  • The371554- these are the olypic GAMES.. not the olympic sports. lol lmao you are so fucking stupid

  • lol, says the guy who misspelled Olymipc... olypic (you are so fucking stupid).

  • @dziggy808 and you were trying to correct olypic with Olymipc? I thought you would have at least noticed it in the spell check despite your inability to spell yourself.

  • and i dont get how this is a sport?

  • did you see the fans i think my grandma was there lolololol.

  • The sports that shouldn't be in the Olympics are not this sport (which is free of controversy and drugs) but those sports where the scores are determined by judges (like figure skating and diving.) There are several Olympics sports that require neither brawn nor speed yet still require precise control of your body (as in this case, being able to slide those stones to the right spot.)

  • @telephilia

sure, its a game of skill. so is bowling. if you know where the Olympics came from then you know why this shouldn't be an olympic sport...just saying

  • @cratesjohnson I understand where you're coming from in that "athletics" should comprise sports that answer to the Olympic motto "Fortis, Citius, Altis" (Stronger, Faster, Higher) implying some muscles. Still I can't see how keeping this in the Games hurt. You can still watch all the skiing and skating you want.

  • @telephilia lol i can't believe you had the audacity to diss diving and figure skating to support the atheletism of curling!

  • hmmm. nope i don't get how that's played really. but go scotland!!

  • I think Shaquille O'Neal and Michael Vick will be competing in this sport in the next winter olympics with their tights on. Oh yeah and their maids will be participating with their house brooms. Time for a guys night out with beer and curling.

  • JC- It does take skill to play the game- but that doesn't make it an Olympic Medal Event- that they give medals for this bullshit is pathetic considering all of the true sports THAT ARE NOT MEDAL worthy- so they say at the IOC. Canada and China lobbied hard for this sport to be returned to the medal ranks after it was demoted- they got what they wanted.

It's a fucking joke in the Olympics

  • this piece of crap is a "sport"? oh my god what has this world come to?

  • Considering your lack of knowledge of spelling, punctuation, grammar, or syntax...I'd say we're coming to the fall of civilization.

By the way, what Olympic sport do *you* compete in?

    I didn't think so...

  • wow.. i love how you dont bother to make points about why curling should not be in the olympics, but why one person (me) is the downfall of society lol. and i dont compete in any sport or game

  • im sorry mr. grammar nazi.

i dont compete in an olympic sport, but if i did, it sure as hell wouldnt be "curling"

  • @Bruno5940 OPEN UP A DICTIONARY AND LOOK UP SPORT. Curling requires alot of cardio and balance.

  • @melovetorun

Lol, damn cool down. Just because you might play curling doesn't mean that it's the best sport in the world. Sorry to break your heart but it's not even in the highlights of the Winter Olympics lol.

  • and what winter sports do you like? this game is a very intellegent game. it is shuffleboard meets chess. i bow to people who can play this game. it looks like it takes a lot of skill

  • of course its not a spot. these are the olympic games dumbass

  • @Agis2Ashes Try curling before you open your bitch mouth.

  • ROFL they take softball and baseball out of the Olympics, but they leave this crap in? This is not a sport, it is a game. If this can be a sport then we need Horeshoe's and cornhole in the Olympics.

  • @phatl3wt hell ya cornhole ftw

  • @nickgers1 lmao

  • curling should be for when when real athletes retire from their olympic sport but are still bored

  • Plus there isn't enough violence or jumping for them to play well in curling

  • There's no need. They excel in better sports than this.

  • WTF IS THIS SPORT

  • Great sport for bald out of shape non athletes. When they are done they can come sweep out my garage for me.

  • wtf? this "sport" takes absoloutely no athlectic talent!!!!

  • curling is the most boring and stupidest sport I have ever seen .... How the hell did become a sport in the Olympics

  • This game should be played while drinking beer. Not at the olympics. How is this different than shuffleboard? I'm sure the "athletes" will disagree

  • so intense, so serious, such great form. If your retarded.

  • winter olympics isn't real sports to begin with, it souldn't even be called olympics

  • its really weird and dont consider it a sport, but...it looks really fun hahaha

  • lol..curling

  • Is there a penalty if you hit the rock when sweeping?

  • a sport clearly invented for laughs. i don't know who the creator is but i imagine he's laughing his (perhaps ghostly) ass off at the fact that he actually conned people into doing this.

  • It does look funny

  • It was supposedly invented by a Scotsman. I thought that Canadians invented it.

  • i absolutely agree with you...its the most boring "sport" ive ever seen

  • @michy525

    naw golf is bro

  • its ok...but its a lil more painful to watch this

  • lol think what if it was like ice golf or grass curling lol

  • I've always liked curling since my childhood days in Michigan, watching it on Saturday afternoons on the CBC (specifically, CBET Windsor 9.)

  • weirdest sport ever

  • ......I don't get it?

  • Thats cause your 12 years old

  • Then go wikipedia it and learn about it.

  • This shit would be great if they had to do shots after every round!

  • Haha...LoL...Even if others do not want to agree with this....as much as most of us think that Curling is straight up retarded.....we still sit there and watch it...hell after watching it on the 2010 Olympics even I find myself saying, I would give that a try just to find out what its all about. =)

  • Weaksauce...

  • What is this about curling not being a sport? Heres the definition of sport: an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature, as racing, baseball, tennis, golf, bowling, boxing, hunting, fishing, etc. Now heres the definiton for Athletic: physically active and strong. This game requires athletic activity (Example for athletic activity: They have to slide and sweep on the ice) and skill. Therefore curling meets the requirements for being a sport.

  • @codename7000 It definitely is a sport, but it's admittedly highly unusual, like it could have been done without ice, but that was just added to make it a winter sport or something. Just a weird sort of sport but does require high level of precision. It seems more like a skill, like welding or machining, than a sport though.

  • I don't see why they would add playing on ice to curling just to make it a winter sport if their was no big reason to do so. If you think they did it so curling can be put in the Winter Olympic Games let me tell you this Curling was played on ice since Feb.1541 and the first WinterOG's were held in 1924. Also it may seem more like welding or machining to you then sport is probably because your used to sports having more physical activity in them but keep your feelings by the definition of sport.

  • @codename7000 yea im pretty sure a sport can be classified as, practice, hard work, talent, precision, coordination, reaction, generally in most cases, athletisism, good form, body tone, and etc. however, this sport ill give it might take precision and coordination... what else? years of practice? no lol i could learn this game in 3 weeks... athletisism, cardio, body tone? not even that, i could drink beer and eat cheeseburgers for 10 years strait and still be good at this... soz the sport fails

  • This sport also takes much more in the way of strategy and tactics than most Olympic events. But, considering your spelling and grammar, I imagine anything involving skull sweat doesn't appeal to you at all.

  • Agree. The posters here knocking curling come across as the type of churlish adolescents who like to drive their cars too fast. I wouldn't be surprised if Kevin Martin was the smartest athlete in the winter games.

  • @masorex, You can learn chess in a day and spend the rest of your life trying to master it. I suggest you play a game of curling before you denigrate it. Good sweeping is hard work and pushing a 42 lb stone with enough force to travel 93 feet AND move the stones at the other end is not easy.

  • yea i know right? u sweep for five seconds, and get a rest. wow that must be hard. and since I dumbbell curl ten pounds less than a pushing stone every day at the gym and im only fifteen, im pretty sure grown men/women can handle sliding it across rediculously slippery ice for a distance of merely 93 feet.... The fact is, is that if i played a whole day of curling, id easily make at least 1 or more shots just as good as any olympic curler, its just that kind of game, its settup makes it easy

  • @masorex Curling is a hard sport that requires great balance and cardio unlike bowling.

  • wait im sorry, that last part didng make any sence, i ment to say, that if i played a whole day of curling, id easily be able to make 1 or more shots that would be considered an "incredible shot" in curling. i however would never in my life be able to train 3 months in chess and beat a country, even county champ. yet with small amount of accuracy, could stand a huge chance of tieing or even beating "a pro curler," thats just the game, u roll a stone at a target, my sister could do that

  • masorex, lol i highly doubt that you could kid. even if you could make a shot, it doesn't mean you have a huge chance of beating a pro lol. those guys make good shots all the time. you also have to take the defensive part of the game into consideration

  • @masorex curling is harder then it looks. I have been playing this sports and can't master it.

  • why would you bother even playing it lol

  • what....?

  • O_O

  • this is a sorry excuse for a sport

  • As much as this seems stupid, it's alot about controlling the friction of ice. It needs some talent.

    ...right?

  • so... all those countries struggling to find talented athletes for running, skiing etc.. should just turn to curling to get a medal.? dammiit.. if only they had known before..

  • americas get hooked on curling haha

  • I can't wait to buy the new curling video game! It is expected to sell upwards of 12 copies.

  • This is facked up crap sport!! In my cantry korea if yu pley dis game yu die by firing squad!!

  • how is this a sport!!!lmao!!

  • how is this a sport? lol

  • why do they brush the ice?

  • so the rock goes faster, or in other words the ice becomes smoother increasing the speed

  • Ok, this could be exiting with a few changes. Combine it with Pro-Wrestling, you could have sneak attacks, foreign objects, double crosses, trash talking your opponents......

On second thought i dont think that would even help this any.

  • wow this makes golf look exciting they should put paint bailing into the olympics instead of this shit

  • this has to be the biggest joke of a sport and i am sorry but if you actually think this requires any athletic ability then you are crazy

  • this makes golf look really exciting

  • @romka4567 lmao thats funny. can see how this is a sport any housewofe could do this

  • wtf is this...

  • I have no idea what going on :p

  • by definition, Curling is not a fucking sport.

  • FUCK CANADA !!! made a poor girl cry lol

  • Hey, Canada's lead player looks like Jackson Pollock. Curling is arty and postmodern.

  • this is the stupidest sport I've ever seen.

  • This is the fallback olympic sport for people who lack talent.

  • wht the f... Judo is a sport, running is a sport, snowboarding is a sport.. if curling is sport then we might as well consider checkers as a sport!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ejenamy-i totaly agree.what in the fuck is this bullshit that their trying to sell us.look olympics have become a joke with all these ridiculous so called games.whats next? hop-scotch,double dutch jump roping, rooster fighting.these people may work hard at what they do,but sorry america, europe, canada and anyone i missed this is not a fucking sport nor or they athletes.i'll put it in the same bracket as basket weaving, domino's,checkers, playing go fish, tic tac toe, and other senseless bullshit.

  • it's more of a sport than golf...

  • More of a physics lesson than a sport, but still looks pretty fun. Kinda like playing pool.

  • What they don't tell you is that there are tiny little kittens inside those sliding stones. This is curling, people.

  • wow! is this actually a sport ?

    really?

  • Couldnt agree with you more...Makes me take back saying nascar isnt a sport

  • this is a sport

  • Their families would be ashamed of them.

  • @tonyalva14 thats why people get there eyes ripped out and shit like that and actually bleed preaty bad and not where pussy ass helments and if you knew anything you would know that football derived from rugby and without that there would be no football

  • when you're going to insult someone, at least use proper grammar and correct spelling. both sports are cool. americans will love football more than rugby, and apparently wherever you're from, people will love rugby more than football. it's a never ending argument that no side will ever win, so give up.

  • @twern22 I'm not using proper grammar and correct spelling?

Grammar includes capitalization. Walk the walk, idiot.

  • that is the worst piece of shit sport I've ever seen

  • @kboss2011 lmfao!

  • hey Dizsdh if you played American Football you would understand why we use all the pads. Unlike in some contact sports like rugby you try to stick some one as hard as you can, and I rarely see any other sport having head to head collisions at full speed, except for hockey sometimes.

  • @startingbacker84 I did play it for three years. Never saw the point of the pads. If you get hit, you were moving too slow.

  • rugby is the faggot verison of football. and no if u get hit it doesnt mean ur 2 slow. if ur a lineman its just job to get hit..u obviously dont know how to play

  • @tonyalva14 I obviously don't know how to play? You obviously don't know how to spell, for one, and I wasn't a dumb giant who decided that he wasn't good enough to do anything but play linebacker.

  • so your telling me Adrian Peterson is moving to slow? Your going to say Micheal Turner, Chris Johnson, Randy Moss, Wes welker, Ronnie Brown, and Antonio Gates are moving too slow. If you new anything about football you would know that no matter what on every play your going to get hit. Football players are big and usually quick. Heck even Vince Wilfork is sort of fast.

  • @startingbacker84 I didn't say they always move slow. I'm saying when you get hit it's your fault entirely for moving too slow and not paying attention.

  • Well the pnt of the game is you will usually get hit and tackled almost every play. There is no player in the world who has a gaurenteed touchdown every time he has the ball.

  • @startingbacker84 The point of the game is to get tackled. Right. Okay. I didn't know points were scored for getting hit.

  • I'm trying to emphasize that point that no matter what you get hit at full speed! Almost no football player will pull up on a hit, unless it's the allstay game. It is uncommon to see someone break 50 + yard runs. Apparently though you out ran everyone on the field so you never got hit, or you never saw time on the field. Also I never said there was points for getting tackles except for on things like fantasy leagues.

  • yeah this is gay as shit lmao

  • dumbest excuse for a sport I've ever seen

  • ............. i dont get it?

  • me neither

  • This is as exciting as watching Paint dry!

  • @gambitx4000 you're a fag

  • * Don't take it personal bitch!!! ok that's better. :)

  • you're a whore

  • For a long time I believe this was all played by Janitors who were having some fun before getting back to their work.

  • @smarty..curling isnt a sport. Who the heck brooms ice to slow down an object? Retards like yourself I guess

  • You broom the ice to speed it up, moron.

Holy shit some people are stupid.

  • This is the gayest sport Ive ever seen. It's almost as bad as cheerleaders saying what they do is a sport lol

  • EXACTLY!

  • ice man would kick ass in this sport

  • did it not touch his foot at 1:13?

  • this is so boooooooring!!!! Who created this???

  • A sport is defined as a competitive game in which skill OR physical prowess is involved. This game constitutes as a sport. As does checkers or chess. Eat that, deniers.

  • i do not understand this game. however, i did find it fairly amusing while watching it during the olympics. haha!

  • sorry, but how is this even a sport? just cuz it requires skill? okay, we should have typing in the summer olympics... and arm wrestling!

  • Just saw this sport for the first time, thanks to the Olympics. But even after reading the Wikipedia I still have no idea how it works.

  • sport: curling

    not a sport: cup stacking

  • Curling is AWESOME, haters got nothing better to do than hate apparently.

  • what the fuck is this id this really a fucking sport i didnt hear about it until recently what the fuck they should just make a sport of tag or how about freeze tag

  • Curling is awesome when your not 14 and bitching about it on youtube because nobody listens to you in the real world.

Go give it a try and have some fun instead of acting like a retard.

  • Comment removed

  • this is not a SPORT... this is a PASSTIME or a GAME.

they have shuffleboard at my local bar... any game that you can play while WASTED and STILL BE GOOD AT does NOT need to be in the olympics... granted, shuffleboard and curling are NOT the same, i know that smartasses, but basically.... it IS. This GAME is probably fun to PLAY, but not to WATCH, especially when there SHOULD be hockey and more snowboard halfpipe on my TV. this is the "aerobic gymnastics" of the winter games.

  • totally agree

  • Comment removed

  • curling looking fucking awesome

  • my parents have been watching the winter olympics and i have to say.. this is the stupidest shit i've ever seen.. i wouldnt even consider it a sport... they clean the floor to get an object in the middle.. idc if its difficult or not.. its plain stupid.

  • @bonethug68 yeah, just like how basketball is so stupid, you're trying to get a ball into a hoop! Or golf is so dumb, because it's trying to get a ball into a hole! Or football is retarded, because you're trying to get a ball past a line! Use your head. Don't be dense.

  • different cus basketball and football require alot of physcial strengh, endurrence, and u need 2 b athletic. u kno in the olypics a prego woman is on one of the teams..that rite there proves this sport is a totally joke,,why isnt air hocky in the olymics?? same thing? pool?

  • Nope, Sports don't REQUIRE strength to be considered a sport. Ping pong? sport. doesn't require strength to be great at ping pong. Golf? Sport. weight training is not required. Bowling? Sport. Just enough muscle to hold up a ball. Curling is not a strength intensive sport, but strength is not a requirement for a game to be called a sport. Like someone said above me, curling requires strategy, teamwork, balance, aim
