hehe its great to see that she is enjoying herself in the rehearsals! another thing that is great to see is Diana Damrau watching the rehearsals - another amazing coloratura! (my favourite in fact) i'm not quite sure why she is there but my guess is that she wants to learn!
Aha! It's actually Désirée Rancatore at 1:59 - she sang Olympia in the same production at the Bastille as Sumi Jo and Natalie Dessay. The video of Désirée Rancatore in the production singing "Les oiseaux dans la charmille" is at watch?v=JeLQByOuwI0.
good lord! i could have sworn that that was her! are you sure it isnt her? Désirée Rancatore does look similar though! i'll take your word for it though.
Yes, She has sang olympia before, i've not heard her version of it. according to her website, there isnt a recording of her doing it which is a real shame. I'm doing it in my recital this semester and would really like to have heard her take of it but i realise dessay is the goddess when it comes to olympia so i guess i'll live with that :P
Yes it is a shame, but I can imagine that Dessay would be considered the Olympia-goddess! Her flexible and (at that time) high voice is perfectly suited to the role.
Very cool! She is such a natural comedienne/actress (very physically aware) and thinks on the fly. The movement and style she does to embody the production's themes is excellently done as well.
You can tell she always wants to be very collaborative with the director in order to make the best product they can. She basically says that in the interview, focusing on the fact that she wants to find new ways of expressing the character successfully.
She is really funny and adorable!!!

She did a CD recording of Tales of Hoffman in 96 with Roberto Alanga and Jose Van Dame.

I don't like when she was blond, I prefer how she was in the Interview by Charlie Rose

Her embellishments she uses work well too, IMO.
