@miceweasel XD Cats don't scratch smooth surfaces to maintain their nails- they scratch rough or carpeted surfaces so it removes the shedding part of the nail. It's not like they sharpen them or anything. :)

She also scratches around her food and water. It's just a "this is mine- I'm savin' it for later, thanks" thing.

And I keep her nails clipped.

the strangest thing my brother's cat ever did was to take a flying leap off the headrest of the sofa and grab onto the top of a window that was left slightly open, holding onto the top and nearly bringing it down on the other cat, who was resting on the sill and just managed to jump off in time. the one who took the flying leap was the daughter cat, the one sitting on the sill was the mama cat. it does raise suspicions.
