  • I think all weapons laws are unfair in the USA. The 2nd amendment declares all citizens the RIGHT to bear arms if that person wishes to. It doesn;t matter whether gun or knife.

  • Thanks man! Good video!

  • I'm not so sure about my state laws. Does stiletto count as switch blade?

  • In my town cops may look over a technically illegal blade if it seemed reasonable to them individually. This is an unsafe town. So they usually sympathize with your position, as long as you haven't been deemed a threat, or was doing something illegal to begin with. I've heard one story, ever, of someone gettin charged with an otf. Misdemeanor. Lots of people here carry large blades, autos, fixed or ti-lite or whatever... I'm jus sayin, It flies down here.

  • What other people think I should or shouldn't own is irrelevant to me. If I want to own a balisong then I will regardless of your stupid laws. If someone says I cant do this whatever this may be they can cup my balls and suck my fat cock!

  • More people are killed by cars than by knives.

  • you only see criminals using auto-knives in movies.

  • good vid

  • I don't understand what people mean by "locking blades". Isn't that the whole point of a knife, or else how is it going to stay open?

  • @lorderik237 Slipjoints are non locking

  • @lorderik237

a locking blade would be a blade that requires the manipulation of something OTHER than the blade to close. often called lockbacks.

  • wow you can carry a gun in the US but not a knife wow who makes the laws there??

  • @ontarioman100 DUMB SCUMFUCKS do!

  • Thanks dude. Very helpful.

  • my ideas on the knife laws are if i can get away with it i will just dont get caught

  • I think citizens should be allowed to carry a knife only to protect themselves, its only fair to have something to protect yourself with if you run into some psycho with a weapon that intends to hurt you or kill you, just to level the playing field.

  • All knife laws are illegal.

  • I don't understand how the right to carry a knife is not covered by the second amendment. Period. bah.

I love to carry around my Becker Necker on my belt, its one of the best utility blades i have ever used. But when it comes to a "fixed blade" thats a big no no in a lot of states/cities. Its very frustrating that the law does not see conditional intended use, only black and white, weapon or not.

  • im 15 can i carry a ka-bar knife? (VA)

  • @JMRabil675 Ka-bar is a brand, not a style. is it a fixed blader? folder? But i would assume there is a clause that covers minors, in respect to their parents, somewhere, even if its not directly in the weapons code.

  • Is my ti lite a gravity knife? I can manage to open it without the thumb stud or anything like that.

  • @askAlanNow It can and can not be depending on what the police/DA says it is. But basically yes. Many knives that are not are actually gravity knives because they can be opened with just motion, weirdly that is never really the fastest or most efficient way to open them lol. But could be illegal none the less. I suppose if the cop could figure out how to do it then you would be in trouble.

Although I have heard about cops "just not liking how fast it comes out" so there is no telling.

  • Just like drug laws; knife laws are should not exist. Alcohol is legal- weed is iilegal. Firearms are legal- knifes are illegal. Which categories kill the most people?

  • Yeah, I'm having a problem getting an answer in Lucas county Toledo, OHIO

  • ny knife laws suck, the only thing i can carry is a swiss army knife =(

  • @HIQUALITYSHIT i live in ny too i care around any knife i feel like haha just dont get caught but im not in a city

  • To be honest, whats the difference between a butterfly knife and any other knife? Either way, it can be concealed and you can easily stab someone

  • @ShArKACiTy becuase people are stupid and find them "scawwy"

  • Comment removed

  • so basically if your homeless you cant keep and or bear arms?... can u say unconstitutional? oh hey for all you rich people out there, most people get their cases dismissed if they take it high enough up the chain, because technically not allowing U.S citizens to carry a weapon is illegal.

  • i got robbed today right outside my house. and the worst part is, i thought about taking my knife with me but i didnt. i feel like a fucking idiot!

  • Thats always the case for some reason, the one day you forget to take your baby with you, you need her most!

  • yeah but i dont know if it would be worth it to try and slice the person who robbed me. his friend had a hammer on him and if something goes wrong, me or one of my friends could get hurt or (god forbid) killed.

  • very true my man, very true, sometimes it is just better to give up your wallet. How much is your life worth? More than you have in your wallet? Then give it up.

    Thats what I think

  • they didnt even take my wallet, they took my 500$ phone.

  • @sniper11235 I feel for you man but I will say that I am lucky enough to have a ccw license and they would of had a little harder time if they pulled a hammer on me. I am glad everything worked out ok for you as far as you not getting hurt but its people like them that can't work for what they want and have to rob others that do work that makes us even need to think about carrying a gun or a knife to defend ourselves.

  • cant have locking blades? thats crazy some people will cut there fingers off

  • I guess they would rather have you slice off your thumb than someone elses lol.

    Ridiculous though.

  • the trick is to hold it without any fingers in that area and slice, not stab cause you wont have the best stabbing grip at that point.

  • thanks for the help

  • no problem

  • Meh..if you want to carry a weapon to protect yourself just carry around Pepper Spray or a Stun Gun ...you also well not have to worry about breaking the law, by having it on you

  • Not true actually, many cities have outlawed either stun guns, pepper spray or both. I would say you should check your local laws, I know in NYC they have outlawed most stun guns.

  • more stupid weapons laws just like the people that think taking away guns will drop crime do you really think criminals will give up there guns not like there using legal ones all that will do is make it so good people cant defend themselves

  • it's the same BS laws like guns...the good guys follow the laws and the bad guys carry the knives

  • Yea its funny how people think that they can make weapon controll laws to stop crime.

IMO when you say that a weapon is illegal, the only people that obey the law are the people that wouldnt use it against the law anyway, so therfore, weapons laws really do absolutely nothing to stop crime.

The criminals are going to use it if its legal or not, they dont care, they are going to use it to commit a crime anyway!

  • how old do you have to be to say buy a benchmade online?

  • That depends on your local and state laws, some places 18, some places 16, and it also depends on the website.

    Most places are 18

  • lmao "they wont know what the hell thayre talkin about"

  • Its usually true though lol

  • well yea ill give ya that one lol

  • This was an excellent video. Too bad, knife laws (as well as pretty much any other law) were NOT authored to serve the interests of everyday citizens. My state's knife laws actually state that IT WILL BE DECIDED LATER IN COURT IF WHAT YOU WERE CARRYING IS LEGAL OR NOT! Why not just write:

"If you're white and drive a sports car then it's legal if you're anything ELSE then it was not."

  • Thanks man, and yea, you are right

  • Thanks bro, this is exactly was I was looking for. My benchmade 580s is coming in the mail tomarrow so I just want to double check. Also...would you happen to know where I could find laws on batons? I don't bother with the cops. They don't know shit. They'll lie to you just for there own safty. I can personally contest to it.

  • Batons are illegal just about everywhere I have looked. Honestly, I have not found a good place for baton laws, but I would think that either mailing a manufacturer like ASP about it, or, like I said, call your local law enforcement.

Dont talk to the street cops, all departments have officers that have to tell you the laws. They cant lie to you.

But I would start with mailing ASP and asking them, they wont lie most likely...

  • So after a little more research I think I can help you more now.

Not many states allow regular cits to carry batons around on them, I know AZ does, or at least did when I checked.

But, look at the websites I linked to, and check in them for your state.

Batons will be classified as "Clubs" or whatever they call them, in the same category as Black Jacks, etc...

  • My state says "billies".

  • yea same thing, although it is not the same thing, the law defines it as such, so what are we gonna do...

I am pretty sure that billies means the same as clubs and batons in the laws eyes.

  • there is a good book titled "knife laws of the 50 states - for the law abbiding citizens" the format is easy to read, simple yes no answers for individual states and certain knife types...also has alot of sub notes which pretain to case law...good to use a refference, it was written by a lawyer...

  • lol I actually have that book back in the states, it is an excellent book, but I wanted to give some basic places to find state laws for people without it, or people who cant find it, dont have the money or inclination etc....

  • I woudl agree, the book is a good refference guide, but not set in stonme and as you mention which is a great point state law is not all you have to worry about often times major cities have different restrictions as well as certain towns and juristictions...as far as the police, most police dont know knife law, and many I talked to admit that, basically if they see a blade on you no matter what the style or size, if they feel its a threat they have the legal right to sieze it even if its legal

  • That is actually very true with most things, the standard patrol police and even Dts or whatnot dont know the actual law in many things, that is why we have prosecutors and whatnot.

Usually you are going to be the one telling the police officer what is legal and what is not, which is another reason why it is so important to know your laws that affect you, as most of the time the police do not, that is why lawsuits are so high against police departments, cause they dont know the law.

  • nice hairtcut exactly like the one i just got

  • lol, great scalps think alike apparently!

  • but i got a lot less on top lol

  • lol, gimme a few years, I will have less than you, its in my genes.

  • its stupid-where i live, i cant carry anything over 4 in., and in a defensive perspective, thats not going to do me much against someone who wants to hurt me, u know? and our state has one of the highest mugging rates in the country. i would want to carry, at least, something with a 5 in blade.

  • 4 inches can do alot more than you think it can.

Actually, the person that taught me to fight, (was trained by the IDF) actually prefers a 4.5 inch blade (yea it is .5 more than 4 inches) because of it being more weildable and faster and all that.

I also prefer smaller blades, they are just more usable, even in fighting.

Its not the size of the boat but how you rock it.

  • true, it really does depend on how you use it. i always carry both a small and large blade, so i have use of both. i mean ur right, it has been proven in court that someone skilled with a knife can close a distance of 25 feet very fast, and in one case, one guy killed someone else that was holding a gun from 25 feet, although that was by throwing it. but in hand to hand combat, even with a small knife, i can see what ur saying.

  • There is actually a rule in most martial arts, at least there is certainly one in Israeli martial arts that within 25 feet someone with a knife can close the distance and use it before the other person can draw their firearm...

Over 25 feet is something else alltogether, and yea it does take training, but yea.... anyway

  • yup pretty much

  • ya its reasonable

  • what I consider reasonable or NC is reasonable? lol :P

I think my definition of reasonable is better, which is basically anything you can carry behind your truck should be legal

  • hey ya i was intristed in the knife laws of north carolina and your video poped up and it looked good so i wached it and loves it.

  • Yea from what I remember, dont take my word for it, read the material in the link for sure, but:

From what I remember, NC has pretty decent laws as far as concealed carry, pretty much all folding knives of reasonable size, lockable or not, are OK.

By reasonable I mean compared to some other states, not what I would consider reasonable.

What I would consider reasonable would be basically anything lol :P

  • i agree totaly

  • thanks for watchin man, PM me with how you found me, where you searchin or see it in someone favs or what?

  • i wish that the government would lighten up on these laws its just rediculus.

  • True that man. They need to seriously lighten up on a lot of things.

Especially knives and batons and such.

I can almost see the harsh laws on knives, but the states that outlaw batons? I mean come on! If I was gonna rob someone, I wouldnt do it with a baton!!! Even the police and military consider a baton a non-lethal weapon, yet they are mostly illegal for carry! (knives are considered lethal)

    Un-freakin-believable!!!!!!!!!

  • I found the link useful. Thanks

  • Thanks man, I am glade you learned something from it.

  • Great info!! Very true. Great video thanks

  • thanks man, cool avatar as well! lol, very new, put me back a bit at first! lol

  • Even though I live in Canada, these suggestions and info were helpful. thanks for this video, Ed 5/5

  • Canadian laws from what I have read are similar, but a bit harsher on assisted openers and switch-blades and gravity knives....

But I dunno about that, just what I have heard.
