  • WOW! Awesome set! The flute was tasty, and the strings were great, too! Brilliantly done, fella's.

  • @BardicPiper, Thanks so much and thank you for all of your kind comments on my videos:)

  • @Legertymusic No problem dude. I hope I get to see you perform someday! Come to Kentucky with all haste! lol

  • @Legertymusic lol, I would jam with you guys anytime : ) I watch your vids pretty much every day. They inspire me.

  • @BardicPiper, You need a life, dude! Lol. Just kidding. Thanks for all the support and it is always very gratifying and humbling to know that we can inspire other players. Keep watching and listening!

  • @Legertymusic You should do tutorials! The one's I found on here thus far aren't very good : S As the saying goes; 'Seek not to be like the masters; instead, seek what they sought'. If I don't watch all the time how the heck am I gonna see how you seek? lol

  • i think the 1st one is named ''touch me if you there''

  • if i were in that same hotel, my ear would be up against the door listenin to yall haha

  • class stuff, could you post more flute. and some mad tunes

  • Yas are just pure class!! Could ye put up more Bouzouki ones pls??? Am thinkin of learning!! Cant wait..!!

  • There should be at least three decent zouk videos up at the moment on this channel. I will see what I can do, but it really depends on who I am playing with. Thanks for the kind comments. Cheers,

    Zac

  • That's really first class playing - both of you. Thanks for sharing this.

An deas ar fad. Dul ar aghaidh agus

    go raibh maith agat.

  • Cheers!

  • Could you post a video teaching Drop-D??? That would be really helpful!!!! Great job on the music!!

  • Someday, hopefully! I am on the road so much these days that it is difficult to find the time. My plan is to do a series of videos about Irish guitar, but I have to have a strong melody player who is free to contribute and plenty of time to record plus a decent mic.

    All the best,

    Zac

  • ha woo my goal in a year is to play as well as that....hi 5 everyone

    ha

    so childish but who cares

  • The name of that first tune is "Touch Me If You Dare". A great flute tune. Nice stuff buys. Keep it up!

  • Great tunes lads,

oh and congrats on the Senior flute title, great acheivment given the amount of talent around.

    Looking forward to more tunes..

  • Absolutely mind-blowing! Great stuff! I'll try to see if I can learn that first tune :-) Any chance of finding your chords online somewhere? Thanks for sharing...

  • Most of the chord shapes I use in drop-D are copped off of Doyle or just invented myself. I'd say if you play around enough, you will find some chord voicings you like:)

    Cheers,

    Zac

  • Any chance of digging up the name for the first song?

    Regards,

    -David

  • Word from a friend is that it is a version of "Touch Me if You Dare".

    All the best,

    Zac

  • For some reason my first reply didn't show up. I can confirm that this is indeed "Touch Me If You Dare," and you can find it on The Session. Here's an odd question: Is the tone hole for your left ring finger keyed? I use a traditional Boehm flute to play stuff like this and I can't quite seem to get the response down. I nail it on my whistles, though.

    Great as always!

    Regards,

    -David

  • Hi David, Stephen plays a pretty standard simple-system flute, made by Sam Murray. Six open tone holes and five keys for chromatic notes. What you describe is one of the many problems the Boehm flute can present for playing trad music. The response time from the keys is often not quite fast enough, especially for ornaments. Having said that, a flute repairman might be able to fix the problem. Perhaps it is a post or rod problem that can be tweaked.

    All the best,

    Zac

  • Also, Joanie Madden plays some savage ITM on the Boehm.

  • She does indeed, one of the few who can really make the silver flute sound great in trad music. Noel Rice and Tara Breen are a few others.

  • Wow you guys! Amazing!

  • Awesome playing, y'all! When are you two gonna come rock out at one of the festivals down here in Texas? :(

  • Crackin reels...

  • those are some mighty reels.

  • nice job boys, from another Doherty.

  • You should come to Houston and play with Murder the Stout. Bet we could rile up a mean crowd!

    Regards,

    -David
