  • my god cant anyone make a GOOD warhammer 40k movie. such a cool universe but all movie atempts have just been piss poor. ultramarines made me wanna cry. almost no fighting and when there was it was only for like 5 mins. need a movie that shows off a huge war. like a whole army of space marines or imperial guard vs an alien race. come on GW you can do it we know you can. maybe do a move set in the Horus Heresy NOW THAT I WOULD SEE.

  • @121617a It's a universe that is very difficult to pull off on-screen. Books can include hundreds of thousands of people in one screen without effort; movies aren't so lucky. Live action movies pay more for every extra they put on the set; animated movies are just plain difficult to do right with lots of characters and action (and they take forever). Ultramarines was a good attempt, but people expected too much from that movie.

  • @lingojac i see your point I know that it is hard but not impossible, i mean Lord of The rings proves it. I agree that ultramarines had some high of expectations but still, my opinion is that it could have been better. i mean my opinion is that they should have had less walking around, maybe used the cinema they used in the dawn of war pc game intro. Warhammer 40k is a great universe and i really feel that ultramaines could have done it more justice. It was the first try and now they can improve

  • for sanguinius!!

  • Looks like it would have been significantly better than Ultramarines. Fucking Smurfs.

  • Orks? Come on GW, we get that Space Marines and Orks fight but can we please have some other fighting? Like Tyranids smashing the hell out of some Tau. That I want to see!

  • Terrible, but somehow better than the recently issued Ultramarines.

  • When was this supposed to come out? Looks pretty DirectX8.1ish.

  • i never expected to hear peter gabriels "The Rhythm Of The Heat" in a warhammer 40k trailer.. lool

  • This was not fan made. It was going to be a proper film by GW but it just didn't work out. For the time it was made, this was state of the art CGI so you can't compare it to the recent CG scenes from Dawn of War or Dawn of War II. It would/could have been great and I hope it will be bought to life again by the Ultramarine guys.

  • booooring

  • This must be fan-made, because the space scenes are okay but the rest of it is far, far below the usual standard.

  • They haven't made any better quality G.W. / 40k inspired space battle scenes that i've seen since, either amateur-made or pro stuff. As for the rest, it wouldn't have been so bad for the time it was made; what was it, late 90's or something like that? try watching other CGI from that time, it ALL looked pretty crap by modern standards. Like I said though, someone really should make more 40k-based space battle vids of some sort, there's plenty of unexplored potential there.

  • and this is why they froze the project it was epic fail

  • please tell me this is not real. the color used for the space marines is so shit

  • @deathto5 that COLOUR (as it is spelt) is from the blood angels chapter , also known as the berserker chapter so named because of the blood-rage virus each and every member carries in their DNA (or gene-seed as the space marines call it) which means once they take serious damage the virus activates sending its host into a fit of rage and anger killing all things it comes into contact with . Most victims of the activated virus dont survive and the ones that do go totally insane.

  • @AnarchyInsanity completely wrong about the black rage virus it isnt activated by being wounded but from being in battle for pro longed periods of time or a blood angel seeing his battle brothers killed it also it boosts the space marines already enhanced perceptions such as strength, reflexes etc the ones that go insane and cant be controlled are put into the tower of the lost to live out the rest of their natural lives and the ones that can be controlled are put into the death company.

  • @NuclearFallout1i was wrong then but after much diliberation i also know that you to are wrong , the black rage is activated on the eve of battle , they get vision of their primarch (sanguinius) dying at the hands of his battle brother horus during the ending days of the horus heresey , these visions send the marines insane , these insane marines are inducted to the death company , and the ones that happen to survive the battle are executed by astorath the grim , who oversees death company .

  • Dunno when this trailer came out, but the intro movies and trailers for the Dawn of War series, nay, ANY Warhammer-related property that THQ made into a game make the ground and chapel scenes look positively dated.

  • They should defo remake this as a sequel to the ultramarines movie.

  • It sucks that GW won't sell the movie rights to a known good film company such as New line cinema. I could see Peter Jackson directing this an if he did as good a job as LOTR then the movie would be fenominal.

The Space Marine movie GW released was ok. The marines died to easily from bolter fire and their voices needed to be alot deeper...they all sounded like worn out old men

  • such a good game

  • They need to make a space battle movie.

  • Looks good for what the time was. Shame they never finished it. I wonder how much of the Bloodquest story would have been used...

  • as much as i like 40k i have to badmouth this by saying that the animation for this looks BUDGET!!!

  • oh god I remember seeing ads for this 7 years ago. guess it's never coming out.

  • go space wolfs

  • for a 2000 CGI movie. This is awesome.

  • Well, at least in Bloodquest they would have bothered to model and texture the enviroment, not just SAND, SAND EVERYWHERE.

  • this movie was actually a graphic novel

    its a good book XD

  • @kattwuver202 You wouldn't believe how many W40k novels there are...I read Rynn's World, not bad

  • this isnt the trailer to the new Warhammer 40k movie. Firstly its called ULTRAMARINES and its gunna being made using proper CGI, not this crap.

  • @Pericles1992 is there a trailer for that? if yes that would be great, but I fear it will be like the halo moive, it never got done...

  • @helikaon864 just search for Ultramarines Movie Trailer and it should be the 1st on the list

  • @helikaon864 there used to be a halo movie?

  • @Metalsoul112 peter jackson was making one in 2006, but it stopped due to copyright & funds.

  • @Metalsoul112 The start of one. 343 studios ran out of cash and created warehouse 13

  • @Pericles1992 What? lol the new Ultramarines movie's CGI IS THE ONLY thing that look like a piece of crap here.

Blood Quest trailer was made back in 2000 which is 9 years from now. Ultramarines Movie, barely above this one.

  • Yeah thats one awsome trailer all right. An awsome waste of my time.

  • Looks pretty crappy, probably stopped coz they realised they could make a better movie just filming DOW2.

  • @sahriarogue this trailer was made before the year 2000, way before dawn of war 1

  • looks a little low budget :p

probsbley ehy they had to stop

  • the whole thing needs to be like the intro to dawn of war 1

  • there doin a movie!?!

    shit warhammer has been pupulare.

  • Even if this is a fake it looks promising and well made

  • defffffff dreaddddddd

  • fake

  • does anyone kno when the spacemarine is comin out

  • lizardmen?

  • @Asken96

you see now why they canceled this film

  • this was made WAAAAAY back even before the armageddon campaign, when the steel legion was released, i was still in school when they announced this.

the whole thing collapsed due to the fact they ran out of money... :P

  • oh god when was this made 1945 it needs an update to live up to basic cgi this way and before i get any craop i love warhammer ok

  • @ZombiesgodAngel u do kno they r making a movie called "ultramarines" dont u

  • @jamreaper wat really ?

  • @ZombiesgodAngel cant tell wether or not ur being sarcastic

if u are then im sry for breathing

if ur not then check out ultramarinesthemovie {DOT} com

  • @jamreaper well why thank you for dat

  • @ZombiesgodAngel no problem i just want to get the word out

  • well i hope the ultramarines movie thats going to be made is gonna live up to the hype but i am bloody looking forward to it!

  • sweet but why is the space marine cgi so shit compared to the rest?

  • theres a movie???!?!?!?

  • @kingsardine

Read the info. It was never finished and all we got was this trailer

  • @JopeSane :o

  • 0:55 those Dinosaur riding Exil-Eldar?

  • one of em is holding imperial flag

  • OMFG.

did this get amde into an actual movie?

  • The space scenes are fantastic, but the ground scenes need more work

  • this looks fake.

  • Damn... imagine a movie about teh C'tan and necrons invading terra? Of course they go for mars first but i wanna see a movie about the necrons.

  • @powerofdestiny

necrons never made it to terra. and they would never invade machanicium (mars), the warp dragon is a c'tan god.

  • Necrons are impossible to wipe out fully, they'll keep coming.

  • true, along with most other races.

i play imperial guard. i loved the movie they made about them.

  • you mean damnatus that german film

  • no your thinking of tyranids. there are hardly any necrons. tyranids rule. tyranids infinate

  • o-O

i know what i mean't. And there is millions ofr necron tombworlds ALL over the universe, dormant, awake. I don't know but it will be impossible to ever truely wipe them out.

  • yeah but in each tomb world there is not many necrons compared to some other races like tyranids or orks. but still tyranids infinate. nothing outnumber tyranids.

  • Wrong, there is millions of necrons. Most people never understand the true ammount. Besides. If they wiped out entire armies billions of years ago, they can easily do it again.

  • They have tried, 3 or 4 necron tomb ships were able to land on mars before being destroyed.

  • @powerofdestiny

orly? what book was that from (im not saying your wrong, i just want to know)

  • The Necron Codex.

  • ocool

  • @AgeOfReclamation Who the Emperor beat the crap out of & imprisoned him on Mars. ;)

  • and Dan Abnett wrote the script^^

  • Yeah, there should be less protection for IP in that anybody ought to be able to make a movie based on GW as long as they pay GW royalties - say 10% of revenues?! That seems fair to me - their IP is protected from copyright theft yet they lose exclusive creative control - the perfect recepie for a decent Warhammer 40,000 movie!! I wish Damnatus coulda come out though - fucking GW!! :-d

  • theyre lascannons not multilasers.

  • james cameron would probably spend at least 10 years on o warhammer 40k film,

  • a land raider with twin-linked multilaser?

  • is this trailer based on the blood quest comic becaus that one was realy realy god!!! and would make a good movie

  • Seriously, with todays animation, anyone could make a visually Awesome Wh40k Epic, problem is, nobody does! Imagine Peter Jackson, or Quentin Tarantino: don't tell me the utterly hopeless, gore-filled battlefields and general madness of the future isn't right up their alley! Or M Night Shyamalan, the whole arcane mysteries angle, or... See my point? All it takes is someone actually making the movie!

  • Why aren't any movie makers jumping on the 'make a GW movie" bandwagon? GW rules the IP with unmovable force and want full control and ownership over anything published about it (just read there ip on GW main site and you'll know what i'm taking about). Todays movie writers and directors want to use there own ideas. This does not mix well, and so, the hollywoods in the world do not try.

  • They should get whats his name that produced Avatar. If that film does well then he should have the cash to fund a good WH40K epic. Maybe even buy out Exile films to make 'em cough up the rights..

  • This trailer is not awesome...

  • i cant wait for the new ultramarine film comin out

  • true that

  • new??do u mean it geaves an old movie??

  • what? it geaes

  • yeah it looks badass

  • what new ultramarine film???

  • you should know about it. in 2010 they will have a 40k film called ultramarines. they announced it at gamesday 09 that they are making the film.

  • very glad this pile of shit got put on hold

  • its made before the game came out??

  • So hang on, are the 'Ancient Foe' orks? I'm rather confused

  • im reading my first warhammer book (not 40k) Malus Darkblade, its so good cos i love how evil the dark elves are =D

  • U should try a guard novel they are good for first timers. Can't wait for the UltraSmerf moive

  • when is it going to be released? can anyone tell me?

  • I signed up for updates but haven't got anything yet. Heard though around June or something next year.

  • Well, luckily we still have the forbidden Damnatus

which HAS not been uploaded to youtube

  • There is a movie coming out. It is Ultramarines.

And if it involves the Nid's, it will be epic!

  • they should get the peeps who did the FF7AC movie to do this and you know they'll keep faithful to the universe, GW has the funding but GW would want a film that is a dark and gritty as the universe is ment to be like in the novels etc BUT at the same time they'd be pissing off all the kids that buy their models and play the TT......they know they cant have it both ways, i think i movie would be a last resort for GW.........im hoping a see a Horus Heresy movie b4 im dead thou ...would be cool

  • Codex pictures did the Bionicle films, and they were pretty good and geared towards a younger audience. I have hope and some faith, but I won't be terribly disappointed if it fails. The way I look at it, 40k has really expanded since. The fanbase is way larger and they have gotten a lot more popular since then (DoW series).

And there's no sound in space.

  • but the issue is, and GW knows it is that the 40k universe is not a pretty place, if you read the novels its pretty dam dark and hopless....which is why i love it lol BUT......depending on who they gave a movie project too they'd have to keep it dark and gritty and gory and NOT aim it to the kids. Im glad they pulled the plug on this film, looks horrid but CGI back then was pretty piss pooor

  • Yeah, that's true. Read Emperor's Mercy? That's EXACTLY what you're talking about. First half; mainstream sci-fi. And then he gets thrown into...hell, AKA 40k. heheheh

  • Nah right now im reading threw the SOUL DRINKERS im just about the start Crimson Tears, lol kinda bad but im just reading other stuff till the 2 new HH books come out lol should be GREAT Thousand Sons fall.....there's is a tragic one thou...Magus was only trying to help.

  • Yeah, the new HH books will be killer.

Soul Drinkers, huh? Wait till you get to Hellforged. That's all I'm going to say.

  • im just about to read Crimson Tears. Untill the next 2 HH books come out THOUSAND SONS WOO

  • Yup. Going to be good, A Thousand Sons and Prospero Burns.

There's Nemsis coming out next year from James Swallow...great author....title sounds....dark, at the very least. Can't wait.

  • yeh i saw that Nemesis in the coming soon section on black libary.....lol wish they would hurry up and get the site up again but yeh im not a fan of James, i got part the way into Deus Encarmine and....started reading Angels of Darkness insted.....i just did not find the way he wrote very...well....good, soooooooo im not sure how he'll make the Blood Angels in the HH novels

  • Might not be Blood Angels, though, look at Graham McNeill, he does Ultramarines, now he's doing Thousand Sons. Yeah, I mean, how long does it take to build a cooler website?

  • lol true and yeh fuck knows how long it takes them, hooping this new movie will be good, even if it is the dam UltraMarines....

  • Hehehehhe.

I think it's Ultramarines because, really, they don't have a lot of confusing history. Yay, they fought, they're cool, poster boys. Introductory course to 40k 101.

  • lol yeh they are on every dam box and yeh their daddy wrote the fucking book.....i mean codex so.....lol

  • I wonder what it would feel like to be in a stasis field....

    Weird.

And only because I read the Inquisition War trilogy, and that was confusing.

  • only started to read that/those books started with that female assassin from temple of assassins was being changed into a gene stealer well....being able to change into one anyway, the lab table the way it was described lol very grim...loved it. Think the movie should have been directed by the dude who did District-9 he knows how to do gritty and dark very well. and should be based on the Horus Heresy books. :) first 3 would be perfect opener even for noobs who know nothing of 40k....i think

  • but have have to say i have not been reading them in any order but from DEAD SKY BLACK SUN i have enjoyed the UltraMarines books

  • Yeah, that was pretty good. McNeill does a good job of all that managing a Chapter stuff.

  • lol got ym gf thinking of reading 40K.....just dont know what would be a good book to start her off with....want one that'll leave a good impression.

  • Huh. Is she okay with blood, and is she a general sci-fi fan? If so, then Emperor's Mercy is the one.

  • lol she reads lots of Anne Rice which is good but......she has also become tainted by the twilight shit.....and she randomly asked about 40k so.......i gave her SALAMANDER to read.....HOPFULLY it'll do.

  • Salamander...now there was a good read.

    For a 40k fan.

Depends, she might enjoy it. I'd put it at 75/25 chance. Twilight, huh? She needs to get off that shit...it's not because of that "hot actor", whatsisname, played in Harry Potter? Cause if it is, there's no one like that in 40k...thank the God-Emperor.

Personally, I loved Salamander. A bit hard to follow through the beginning, but hella good at the end. Left me screaming for more.

  • @DeltaSquad451 Fulgrim sounds like the cock from Twilight. lol

  • Twilight? Your Dating a heretic a HERETIC!

  • lol i know i know but she has pretty much finished Salamander now and she thought she would not like it and kinda hated it to start with but she really likes it lol.....the SEEDS have been planted brothers.....think i might give her somthing abit more simple to read like Heroes of the Space Marines or perhaps Tales of Heresy short tales so she gets a nice taste of the 40k/heresy period

  • Now your dating a Sister of Battle. Nice one my brother. Soon we will convert all these Twilight Heretics! Even if they don't like 40k, they must not read that shit!

  • lol at least i dont have to clock work orange her and make her watch loads of 40k lol

  • Start her off with one of the Space Marine Omnibus's Space Wolves are the Grey Knights.

  • Give her the Sisters of battle one. I Think its called Rising Sun or Something.

  • Uh, why's everyone being such a bitch? It looks pretty good for a movie if it was really early in production/wasn't made by a big studio, if you think you can do better then go fucking do it or stop being such a bitch

  • its a movie?

  • the lascannon was a fail in this video, and the marines looked funny

  • Did I see Exodite Dragon Knights there?!

  • Nope. This is IG legion from the beginning of Bloodquest.

  • One problem with GW's banhammer policy on other movies I see is that if the Ultramarines movie doesn't turn out well, we (the fans) are going to give them (censored).

Of course, if it's worse than this looks, then what can I say? They'd deserve every bit of it.

  • I think that GW guys is simply perfectionists. They want best of the beast movie or no movie at all.

  • Something that 90% of 40k games and movie suffer from - they've copied the models but not understood them. Why have the marines doing a John Wayne walk for goodness sakes?

  • it would also help if they didnt look like they were force-fed Ipecac.

for gods sake, even Madonna has more meat on her bones!

  • Too bad this movie only made it to the trailer stage and then died even though it looks like shit now but have no fear Game's Workshop is trying again with a CGI movie called Ultramarine's due sometime next year if it goes through hopefully

  • I hope Games Workshop makes a huge, expensive, high tech graphic and epic Warhammer 40k movie for cinemas.

  • Whoa, were those Exodites?

  • This was never to be as movie but a game.

  • if this was made it would be counted as the WORST MOVIE EVER MADE.

  • i agree the fire three heresy books are the best story ever n would make the best movies but ya know if thay did they would fuck it up or not do it justice

  • I'm guessing this movie only made it to the trailer stage and then the producers abandoned it or gw didn't allow the full movie to be released

Even though it looks like junk it's still sad to see a 40k movie die T_T

  • imo it is a good thing it died would of been a insult to fans and a deathblow to 40k ever geting a good movie

  • yea, guess it was all for the best. Still, I think that how gw keeps locking down on potential movies causes less directors or investors to be willing enough to attempt making a good movie.

In the end I agree - better have one solid 40k movie than an endless series of (censored)

  • lol coool

  • I'd buy that shit in a heartbeat

  • this movie looks so bad and i love wh40k

  • y man it looks awful and i also love warhammer and warhammer 40k

  • they canceled it, why put work into it if they arent gonna finish?

  • anyone of the warhammer novels out there would be good to make a movie out of. personally..... space hulk would be good to make a movie.. anyone agree.

  • I think they should combine the first three horus heresy novels into one movie. like an actual movie with famous actors. the only downside would be that if it was popular, we'd get a bunch of douches trying to start playing the game

  • they should make the dawn of war book series into some movies

  • shitty

    -.-

    they can do it better

  • bear in mind how old this is

  • i agree T_T

  • this was made about ten years ago

  • Riders are exodites?

  • Sucks that games workshop told them not to release the movie

  • I'm impressed

  • Michael Bay can take anything and run into the ground (example: Transformers 2...pretty much just pissed all over my fondest childhood memories)

  • Snore.

  • I know there are a lot of Warhammer players/fans who would like to see a warhammer movie but a sci-fi gore fest just isn't going to be a commercial success and no director would waste millions of dollars making what they think is a geeky tribute to tabletop game. I for one belive there is potential in the Warhammer universe as it is not only gloryfing war but things like religion and human rights are displayed as well. Give it up now guys although this trailer is the best I've seen. :)

  • That's true. I think they could do it, but they'd have to make it appeal to people who aren't fans already - maybe like the new Star Trek movie has done, and although Star Trek is considered geeky, the movie's been really successful.

  • Sci-fi gore fest? Do you understand how much story is behind Warhammer 40k, Dawn of War etc.? It's PERFECT for a movie. There hasn't ever been a movie made that is remotely similar to this.

  • It is possible but we all have the wrong thoughts when we hear warhammer 40K movie. We all think epic battle. They could make a movie for example about one or a few persons. For example, a stranded group of guard or space marines, an sort of thriller movie with an officer acting like an investigator and so finding chaos. I know I gave a few crappy examples but I just mean, it doesn't have to be epic battle. I think every fan would go as long as it is in the 40K spirit.

  • lol. the dawn of war intro is much better then this trailer

  • I must say that Killer- Kan looks awsome
