  • Why are there people trying their hardest not to give Bobby Caldwell credit for doing this song first?? He and Alfons wrote the song and its on Caldwell's first album. That was in 78. There are no versions of this before 78. I dont get what the problem is....

  • "What You Won't Do for Love" is a popular quiet storm single written by Alfons Kettner along with musician and singer Bobby Caldwell which he recorded for his debut album of the same name, released in 1978 on the TK Records label. So its not a remake for Bobby, beautiful song

  • ooh, sexy cool white dude.

  • 2PAC

  • I don't know what I would give to spend one night with this Peter! Awesome sexy man.

  • Damn, that man has some serious pipes. I've always loved Go West but only Peter Cox can take someone else's song and totally make it his own!!

  • Absolutely love this version of this classic song. Go West - I have always loved their music.

  • This tune is just simply AWESOME!!!

One of my fave groups in the 80's... still listen to them now..LOVE THEM XXXX

  • A Plus for Peter Cox !

  • this is some classic ass shit to listen to this video has soul on the real

  • sure did..One of the best gems form the 80s unknowns/lesser knowns...Classic..This song always gives u one of those feelings man...Timeless, priceless classic.

  • It's always difficult comparing originals to re-makes, however, Go West has done as masterful of a job with their work as I've heard yet. They're terrific.

  • Best voice ever

  • Don't care what anyone says - Cox is/was one of the best male vocalists EVER.

  • Smooth

  • What you won't do, do for love, you'd try everithing , but you won't give up.

  • Sorry, but wich is the name of the rhythm? R&B? Thanks!

  • FUNKDEFIED

  • It's very difficult to cover the original hit song but they definitely do it BEST !! I'm sure BOBBY CALDWELL loves this .

  • @bootseybuddy I agree, it is hard to do a cover, esp. when there is some one like me who is emotionally attahed to the original. But there are exceptions. I do love this version and Bobby's version. Even Bobby redid a version on a "greatest hits" cd he put out called Timeline: The Anthology, Pt.1. It is a great version also. Example of songs I hatte redone is Staind's version of Black by Pearl Jam. I love Nickelback's version of Saturday Night Alright For Fighting.

  • I wonder if there is covers of any Go West tunes

  • I remember this when I was touring (1990)... Awesome remake!

  • hate to tell everyone but the orgianl version of this song was done Buy Natalie Cole and Peabo Bryson. Not bobby Caldwell. Sorry everyone. Bobby Caldwell did a remake as well.

  • @LucianRaidijiu I know that Bobby Caldwell wrote the song (possibly for NAtalie and Peabo) but his version is probably the most recognized

  • @pmularz841 The Immortal Phyllis Hyman did a remake of this as well

  • @LucianRaidijiu I heard Natalie&Peabo but I like Bobby and GW's version's better

  • @LucianRaidijiu you are wrong. Bobby wrote and recorded the song in the late 70s. Natalie and Peabo did a cover version of it in about 1980. It's so easy to check facts. You should give it a shot.

  • @LucianRaidijiu sorry but that's incorrect. Snowdog444 is right.

  • I've been trying to find this song for a while. I love this version of the song.

  • I love the first 24 seconds the most. It makes me want to watch "Too Close For Comfort'!

  • This song have pure black soul influence....I love it!

  • Actualy this is Orginally Natelie Cole's song Feat Peabo Bryson

  • @LucianRaidijiu actually it isn't. You can't spell OR get your facts straight.

  • Pure oozing gorgeousness..............yum!

  • One of the few remakes that I really like!

  • wonderfull song by go west :)

  • Regardless of the recording quality, this song is still sexy. Listen to that low-key, husky voice...simply sensuous. Delicious song.

  • @sbrushfan Cant go wrong with either version both are top notch!!!!!!!!!

  • Oh how I love this song. Unfortunately I don't know too many others that do or even know the song to begin with. I first discovered this song(or Go West's version) on the back of the King of Wishfull thinking single. How time flies. This song still makes me want to get a bottle of wine and the right person and have a sultry evening. (^-^)

  • @highevolutionstudios I heard of this version but never knew the name of the group but I DO NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hot dog I found it!! There was also an acapella version done back in the day, still hunting for it.

  • @MrDynamic44 there's an acapella version too? Sweet!

  • @Brinah Who did the acapella version?

  • @dal4018

I can't remember for the life of me, it was an R&B group from the 90's.

  • @MrDynamic44 Please find it this sounds like the work of the curreny kings of Acapella TAKE 6 EVER HEARD OF THEM THEY DID A SONG CALLED "SPREAD LOVE"

  • @dal4018 - Go West did an acapella version. I'm still looking for that on cd or mp3.

  • @JimmieLeeLyrics Please find it thanks

  • @JimmieLeeLyrics I could help you get a copy

  • @Shad3251 - Really? How so?

  • love love love this song

  • This is definitely my favorite Go West song of all time. It combine a mix of blues-type vocal with jazz instrument. A perfect combination in fact.

This song is the song that I always play when I feel broken hearted after being left by my girlfriend.

  • This is BC's favorite cover version of his signature hit. I must agree! Weren't the 80s FABULOUS??!

  • I never realized just how sexy Petter Cox is....I wonder how many girlfriends??

  • A brilliant cover... takes the song to the next generation... and level.

  • 1992...

  • Great cover but lousy recording--any good one posted? Sound is all messed up

  • Excellent version! Peter is utterly gorgeous!

  • Definitivamente una de mis canciones favoritas en general y la interpretacion y sabor que maneja Go West no tiene comparación alguna

  • One of the top 10 songs I could'nt live without .....

  • Love this cover. Thanks for uploading

  • Song...still gives me chills...P.Cox, the man has a lot soul!

  • I absolutely love this cover of Bobby Caldwell's song. They did the song serious justice. I LOVE IT!

  • @mdjhnsn72 HELL YEAH BEEN TRYING TO FIND THIS COVER ITS GREAT ITS ALMOST AS GOOD AS THE ORIGINAL!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @mdjhnsn72 Apparently there are 3 ppl who disagree

  • Bad ass cover right here!!!! btw that's Abraham Laboriel (Stevie Wonder) on the bass!!!

  • @fenderjones If that was Abraham Laboriel PLAYING BASS FOR GO WEST THEN WHO PLAYED BASS FOR CALDWELL'S VERSION?

  • @dal4018 Bobby had a lot of session guys on his album so I don't know who exactly. He also plays keys, guitar and bass so he may have played it himself

  • @fenderjones Those were some talented session men needless to say they earned their keep!!!!!!

  • @fenderjones If that was Abraham Laboriel then who played bass for Caldwell?

  • I totally love Go West's take on Bobby Caldwell's classic song. This version has a funky, danceable groove. And Peter Cox's smoky, soulful singing is A-plus!

  • @DaddyTre65 Which version do you like ?

  • @dal4018 I equally enjoy Bobby Caldwell's original version and Go West's version. Caldwell's version is moodier and a little melancholy, which is how you can feel when "you try everything" for love. Go West's version feels more upbeat and hopeful. That's why "you won't give up" finding real love.

  • @DaddyTre65 Caldwell version is much more moodier than GO WEST and the bass player is a tad more noticeable than the guy on GO WEST but not by much.Caldwell has a background in jazz singing that's why he's got more vocal range.

  • smooth

  • This brings back memories of the good ol days

  • Peter cox. .... So sexy

  • Seeeexxxxy voice.

  • Thanks for the post!!

  • PETER, GET OVER HERE RIGHT NOW AND KISS ME U GORGEOUS THANG!!

    GO WEST WERE THE BOMB!!

    SIMPLY LOVE THIS SONG!!

  • I remember the single had a really cool a capella version on the b side, wish someone would find that and upload it.

  • @vansieg i'm also havin a hard time searching for that version since i forgot who's the artist. I love that acapella version

  • just great

  • Luv this version. I know they did not write the song.

  • I was in Germany when this group became known world wide. Some of the best songs of the 80's came from groups like them.

  • one of the best remakes ever

  • I thought about this video today! It is great to know someone liked this video and remake of the original as much I do!

  • Great video, and like another person said, I've been looking for this video version for years. Much thanks for posting!

  • such a good song
