I like 13 w7 but JL is way to over priced, I have 2 15 cvr and I hit harder than 13 w7 mine in a sealed box and my buddys w7 in a sealed box. JL is over priced I can make a system sound just as good for 1000$ cheaper

@larrythestoner415 absolutely not. your kickers are designed to be in a sealed box, the JL w7 is designed to be in a ported box between 1- 1.5 cubes tuned to about 32hz. your already putting the JL sub at a disadvantage by simply placing it in a sealed box, not only that but unless both subs we're placed on the same amp at the same resting voltage your comparison hold no water

Can DD get louder? Sure, with more cone area or more wattage, I'd still put this true 6K system against any other true 6K set up confidently. Sure, the JL's cost more, but DD ain't that much cheaper buddy for what you're getting

For all you kids out there that live your life on how many watts everything has. I have a Counterpoint 100 by 2 amp that will blow the voice coils out a good 10 yards out of any sub some moron sells you. I sold HiFonics amps from 1989-1991. Before they came with a promise and a can of Turtle Wax. BTW..Nice install diggler.

For the person who said a JL 1000/1 with a 13.5 W7 would beat any 1000 watt setup.

A 15 inch TC Sounds Axis getting power from a Cadence ZRS 7000d would provide more SPL (simply due to the added cone area and both woofers having otherwise very similar specs) while still keeping up with SQ. The suggested setup will also cost about $800 less. Another option would be a Fi Q. Although they're not quite on the same level as a W7, they're still great SQ subs for a 3rd of the price.

@joestl314 thanks for the love. I probably should have noted in the description that this was built as a demo truck for a shop that had just picked up JL & Alpine, that's why we used what we used. There's sooo many smaller speaker/amp companies now that make great equipment, but the problem from a retail standpoint is, most people have never heard of them unless they on the SMD forums or watching youtube vids for whats good and new.

@diegopizana You're a noob man. W7's are good subs but there's better. If you're looking at pure SQL nothing beats the LMS Ultra. Model it up using WIN ISD and see if you'll find another sub that can play FLAT from 20hz upward. Further, find me another sub that was even designed to be tuned that low. Good luck .

@MrPanochaman For a 6000 watt sub set up, it crushes some 10k & 12k set ups, and still sounds completely musical. The W7's do what they're intended to do really well. I'd put a 13W7&1000/1 combo against any other 1000 watt rms sub & amp any day confidently. Watt for watt, its a hard combo to beat, they're just expensive! LOL

But its hard to find a combo that keeps that kind of definition up top when its getting beat on,about the only thing I can think of that comes close are old school Phoenix Gold amps, older Xtant, or some of the higher end Arc Audio. Trust me, its easy to get anything as loud, or louder for less money.Look @ it this way,Vettes are nice, but lets be honest, if you had $300k, you'd be shopping Lambo's or Ferrari's.

@Unique539 yup, they are exactly 13.5 inches and have dual 1.5 ohm voice coils. JL also recently updated the 13w7's power handling from 1000 rms to 1500 rms but they recommend around 1000-1300 for everyday listening and 3 cubic feet per sub in a ported box add extra for port volume of course. hope that helps !!!!

@Unique539 naw, a 13w7 is not as big as a actual 15in. sub. however, it is louder than most 15's. it also takes the same mounting whole as a regular 12in. it's able to be a 13.5in sub because the woofer and surround covers the mounting holes which gives it an extra two inches or so of cone area. there arent too many 15in. subs out there i would rather have than a 13w7 for the price and sound quality..

@dirt00trackracin The Kicker wire is actually really nice, and the ANL fuse blocks were exactly what I needed. I did use alot of JL 0g in there, but as far as distribution, the Kicker fit the bill better than anything JL I could get.

if you referring from left to right, the C-pillars are different sizes because the heat vent tubing that runs up the passenger side, where-as the driver side doesn't contain anything.

believe it or not, it would have been far more uneven had I brought it out on the thicker cpillar, because it would've been layered on an already thicker pillar, not to mention the angle up to the headliner, its completely lopsided by functional design from the factory. I'm comfortable with the decision to make the trim uneven, when you're in the truck in the front seat looking back, it all flows with the contours of the interior perfectly. Aesthetically unobtrusive to the factory lines in there

no, I actually had to use it to keep the signal strong enough for all 6 sub amps, I didn't want to y-jack rca them, and you lose so much when you use the rca output from the JL's, the meter showed about a 15 volt difference I had to make up for when tuning.

duh, there's a huge cabin to pressurize, it might hit mid 150's, with a test tone burped. But, unlike a 170+ system, this is still musical, not a one note wonder that hits one note at +6 db and the rest at crap level. This system in a smaller truck or car could put down some serious numbers with the air it moves.
