I have almost no choice but to build one of these. Oh... I just saw the post from @crestind. Thanks. That will be such a great help. If I can find the Knex version, I s/b able to make a solar version w/ Knex then use proportions to do it in some nice rosewood and brass and solar! Eeeek! I will MAKE the time to make the piece. Peace.
Bueno todo no se puede, igual a mi me parece muy bien hecho, pensa que es una version en miniatura. Aunque sea a pilas, que camine es todo un logro...
the reason it does not move smooth is because the rotary axle in the middle must be a certain proportion up, not on the same level as the fixed part of the legs, amazing model though, if this was fixed, it would move very smoothly
I actually think it needs more legs, because everytime he stops moving, none of the legs is making the part of their circle which make the beast walk (do you get that?)
Also, the lengths of ever linkage is very important, especially on one that small. Even 1mm here or there can greatly affect it. 2 or 3 mm wong on some of them and it can end up not walking at all, or even walking backwards.
Indeed. Tolerances are brutal when you are working in this scale. Looks like whoever made this one followed the TJ's specs pretty nicely though. If they shaved the 'feet' to a point it would walk as smooth as silk.
Where can I buy a kit to make one of these?

This defeats the whole idea of what Jensen's mechanism is. His is completely self controlled. I say, yeah it's cool but nothing like Jensen's work.

now build a giant one and drive it to work.

No es igual! esto no es un mecanismo de theo jansen, porque lo bonito de los mecanismos de teo jansen es que operan por el viento y no un motor

It does have a designoid flavor about it. I wonder if a properly written program could evolve even weirder walkers.

Somehow, this is kinda.... cute.
0_0 not in the 'i could totally do better' way, because I can't
But ... the mechanism itself is kinda cute....

I agree, if more legs were added on different parts of the cam it would walk more smoothly.
