Ask a scientologist about his family. Of his family isn't a part of scientology, i can ALMOST GARUNTEE (lol) that they don't make any social activities at all.
Ever wonder why an agent of the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) wrote the words "appears mental" on Hubbard's folder at the Bureau? Letters Hubbard sent to the FBI concerning "Comunists" appear to have been early examples of Fair Game against Scientologists and "Dianeticists" who fled Hubbard's business to start their own:
Don't waste more than a few minutes of this film on things which Scientology has in common with other religions -- e.g. the ability to "wreck families" or "brainwash" -- these accusations are correct but it just comes across as noise because everyone is saying these things about religion.
What sets Scientology apart is a concrete number of things -- Fair Game (private invetigators and all), Operation Snow White, etc, etc, etc,
@northanortha ..name me one legitimate religion that encourages their members to cut off family members or friends that don't agree with their new found religion.Scientology does that.
Scientology have tax exempt in some countries where Scientology is recognized as a religion. In others where it is recognized (by the government) as not a religion it has no tax exempt.
I don't think any religion should get tax exempt though, it's stupid IMO.
Getting rid of the tax exempt status would be a massive step towards defeating this organisation - and would put money back in the public purse, which is more important now than ever. This should be the primary goal.
@Milky111wtf sorry, its the truth. There was actually a document recovered from the 60s from the Pope sent to every bishop in the world instructing them to cover up cases of sexual abuse among the clergy.
@BalmungSama0 It's absolutely true that the church covered up sexual abuse, which is wrong. What IronLingersPlus didn't acknowledge was that this is no longer Church policy and has not been for decades. It changed long before there was a huge scandal. Additionally, his comment that the church hates people who don't conform to its "whims" is completely unfounded. It teaches to love even those who would be the most bitter enemies, and has no whims, as doctrine has not changed. Ever.
@Milky111wtf Well, excluding the Dark Ages, you mean. Yes, in more recent, the Church has taken a far more gentle approach to people it disagrees with. Definately admirable. A few slip-ups every now and then, as the people are still only human, but a commendable track record.
@Milky111wtf LOL. Not covering up crimes is no longer church policy? thats fucking bullshit and you got your head up your ass. you commit a crime the scientologists write it down and should you ever want to leave scientology then a Seaorg member comes up to you and says if you want to leave thats cool but were giving out this information. And gentle approach my ass. Church of scientology is as hostile as ever. and no matter WHAT they do. they will always be seen in that way.
@BalmungSama0 LOL. So your telling me the most POWERFUL.. the most POWERFUL man. in the entire world gave them instructions to cover up child abuse? I could see a Arch bishop giving those orders. but the Pope? No. Not to meansion The vatican would not appreaciate that at all. Give up trying to help out the cult of scientology. Your suvvierly outnumbered.
@VergilGrimm000 I'm not a Scientologst. I think SCientology is probably the most ridiculous, retarded belief system on this Earth. I just state the facts.
So far so good. Did Jason Beghe sign on to be interviewed, or do you think you have enough from his huge interview already? I'm not sure if you're going for a particular rating, but if you can include his line "If Scientology is real, then something is fucked up" I would be quite happy.
Godspeed, Mark. Hope you find a way to raise the other 2/3 of you funds by the deadline. Though I have to ask, what's the contingency plan?
I know Scientology is just a huge scam and stealing money from their congregation is wrong, but I have a hard time separating their "evils" from other religions. I mean the Crusades were all about imposing Catholic beliefs upon the conquered through death and force. In my eyes they are both wrong. But I suppose the modern way of conquering people is through money. Just my opinion.
@Oneofthosefatguys The Crusades are over, however. The crimes of Scientology are still going on. The catholic church isn't holding people captive or harasses its critics, either. And I could go on and on about how Scientology is guilty of using slave labour and forced abortions, or how they make the secrets of their members public if they dare to speak out.
@Oneofthosefatguys I understand what you are saying but it's important to realize that although Catholicism did some horrible things in their past, there has been reform and these are things that they have turned from and are not participating in anymore. Scientology, however, is still doing these things to this very day. As for separating the "evil", think of it this way - "love the sinner, hate the sin". Recognize that it's the actions, not the people that deserve our disdain.
@Templehatchet Agreed! They are pulling the wool over their members' eyes just like scientology is. And corruption that happens at the top is just as reprehensible.
@Templehatchet Yes, there is! :-) I've got a Kingdom Hall a couple of blocks away and was recently visited by some JWs. They keep coming back! They are like the herpes of cults.
@Minidrags There is not always two sides to every issue. Sometimes there is a right and wrong. Did the Nazis have a point that should be considered? No. See Deborah Tannen's "The Argument Culture" for more.
