  • Really good video. Do you know of a good place to get different size barrels?

  • @philliptjr1

    YES I DO!!!!

For original barrels, look to gunbroker. For new barrels DW still makes and sells barrels, though it can get pricey very quickly. For CUSTOM barrels I hihgly suggest EWK Technologies. Eric has extra barrel nuts, barrels, shrouds, and the best fiber optic sights all for DW revos!

  • Thanks for the flick! I got the barrel nut part down and then found that the barrel shroud was stuck and will not slide off even with quite a bit of force... Any suggestions?

  • @dirtyharry970

I just now saw this post. I have never heard of shrouds being stuck, in and of themselves as the only thing holding them on is the tension of the barrel nut. The EXCEPTION to this are the first gen "ported" guns. Generally 44 mags. What happends is that hot lead and carbon build up between the barrel and the shroud. For this reason, it is always suggested to shoot only jacketed bullets in such guns, and to take them down and clean them often.

  • @dirtyharry970

Try soaking the muzzle end in something like KROIL for a few days. This will need to be deep enought to reach the barrel ports. The shroud is pinned so do not strike/twist it perpendicular to the muzzle. A small amount of heat applied to the barrel muzzle may also help. Use a Ronson micro-torch.

  • Hi There. Great Video! I have a .44 Stainless with the 4" & 8" barrels and have been looking to find a SS .357 to match. I've seen a few at the gun shows but in poor condition.

Question tho: I assemble my .44 with the recommended .006 gap, (also required on the Large Frame DWs and the Super Mag), but my old instructions state that the .357 forcing cone to cylinder gap should .002. Is there some reason you have found that the .357 should use .006?

GREAT tool box too! I'm jealous!!

  • @dgpete13

Those .44 ( aka model 744) are great looking guns esp with 4" VH barrel on it! So far I have been satisfied with the small frame (medium frame) DW's so all mine have been 15-2 (.357). In all cases, the model 15-2 uses .006 gap. It is my understanding that it is the supermags that can tolerate the .002 gaps. Now all that said, as you probably well know, the gap on a DW is infinately adjustable and most DW owners find thier own gap generally between .002 and .006 anyway.

  • @dgpete13

This may clear up the confusion: the .357 MAX ( not the .357 Magnum) uses .002.

PS: the tool box is available from Harbor Frieght for $80... its a steal for our use.

  • @PineSG ah ha! for the .357 MAX. got it, thanks! Just swapped to the 8" for a hog hunt in a couple of weeks.

And I have a Harbor Freight just a few miles away! I love that place.

    Thanks for the tip!!

  • great video!! i just recently bought a DW .357mag. i love it!! but the guy i bought it from only had the 8" barrel. and ive looked online to find the 6". the gun body is chrome/silver color but the 8" barrel is black. so im trying like crazy to find the 6" in chrome/silver. can u help me out with finding a 6" ? i can buy or trade my 8 for a 6

  • @againstthywill

    Greetings!

DW 15-2 ( the .357) were offered in Stainless and a few in Nickle(looks like chrome). Without a picture it would be dificult for me to say what you have. Your best bet is Gunbroker, or you may can get a brand new one direct from DW ( now owned by CZ-USA) .

  • @PineSG oh ok. great!! thanks so much. and yeah i think mine is stainless. but honestly, i dont care the color, i just wunna get a 6" barrel. but thanks again for the help.

  • Custom Case.

  • Who made your gun and barrel box?

  • New Dan Wesson revolvers are one again be made on a limited basis. Check with your local gun dealer. DW only come in 6-shot ( 5 for the lil Dan). Smith and Wesson do not have modular barrels systems.

Note: this is not the CO2 BB gun (nice as they are) but original .357 magnum

  • thats a nice gun im wondering where i can get a gun like that in a 10 shot variation im glad i saw this video please tell me if i get a smith and westion can u also change berrils and grips 2

  • Great job~! Thanks for sharing.

  • My gun is the small frame .357 and the grips are different between the small and large frame DW's. Dan Wesson has not produced the revolver in a number of years (though they are to bring back the 715 hopefully in 3rd quarter 2011). Currently I am only aware of one large company producing grips for the DW revolvers - Hogue. I do not think anyone produces a laser grip for DW. DW uses a small grip tang embedded in the grip. I am not aware of any major revolver maker making a compatible grip.

  • QUESTION: Does Crimson Trace make a laser grip that would fit a large frame DW 44 Mag like Yours , perhaps one for a S&W 19 or a laser grip from a similar gun would retrofit ?

  • how much would this gun go for i found 1 for 800 is that goog

  • @MANICISBACK with a name like that you shouldnt be aloud a gun ,im 13 and seem more responsible, btw i got mine for 900 so 800 is good

  • Thanks 223JMH...

The bad news that the petition was last year... THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT CZ is once again making the .357 revolver!!! You can go to the CZ site for more information. Shipping date is 2nd quarter ( I suspect June 2011). Thanks for your interest.

    Pine

  • where do I sign the petition to get cz to make these?

  • Thanks for the vid - well done! I have 2 model 15-2, and 1 model 14-2 Dan Wesson revolvers and like them even better than my Smiths because of the modular design and tuneability / firing accuracy.

  • Great video on this great revolver.

  • 9 inches looks so bad ass...

  • i have one of these guns, since about 1980,its the most accurate gun i own.make shure you shoot fmj ammo,if you shoot lead, you might get lead spitting.good video.

  • @matuschkas Thank you for the kind comment. I have about 6000 rounds through this gun about 95% were lead wad and semi wad cutter ( that is unjacketed ). "spitting" has not been an issue in the model 15-2. Now my .22 DID do some spitting. Unlike all other revolvers, they can be "tuned" (modify the gap) to reduce the occurrence of spitting. Would love to see you post on our forum.

  • Good review old man !

  • Great video Pinetor and very educational!! One more step in educating the public on the benefits of owning a Dan Wesson revolver!!

  • Execellent Video!
