  • reddit what the fuck

  • crazy thought replace the music with ramalama bang bang

  • Devils Inside her..

  • Wigman: one of the great modern dance pioneers.

  • I had the opportunity to reinvent this mask for a choreographer in the 90s. I only had a few still images to work from. The original mask, the in this video, was carved from wood. On close inspection of the various attitudes of the mask, it was determined that it had to actually project CHANGING FACIAL expressions. 1st: ASLEEP. 2nd: AROUSED, 3rd: AWAKENED. 4th: AFFRONTED. A very dificult mask to sculpt, but I had success. Mine was latex lined with fiberglass and moleskin. I have pics.

  • I love modern dance (which this is because it's hard to tell with wigman) but her style is so crazy and unique, you sort of think of her as weird. This is the one dance everyone remembers for wigman.

  • Wow, I saw this same documentary on Bravo in the 90's and I've never forgotten it. It was wonderful. I've always wished I knew the name of it so I could try to find it. Thanks very much for uploading this part.

  • amazing!

  • this made me scream out loud. its scarier than the scariest horrormovie mennnn

  • Interesting for the one with the appropriate taste at the right time- which for me is true at this moment :)

  • cool!

  • Wow, HOMEnHIGH. This is one of the most famous people in dance history. You should probably open your mind a little bit before posting such an ignorant comment.

  • @lookingformyradio ...nothing to open my mind to...are u watching the same vid as me...cuz the one im lookin at is just Ludicrous.look at it..just look..no fucker can tell me what she is doin there is any good...thats just preposterous..ere..Elvis was good too....but at the end he was just a drugged up crazy fat cunt doin kung-fuckin-foo on stage dress as Evil Knievel.....i mean...what the fuck..

    taxi for Elvis....

  • @HOMEnHIGH You should probably just shut the fuck up because you're obviously oblivious to the history behind the German expressionist movement. Mary Wigman was a pioneer of Modern Dance and her technique and movement paved the way for all forms of dance today (other than Ballet). And for the record she was not some "sad old ragity bitch with too much money", she was an expressionist who built who a school and company up from nothing. If she was so ludicrous and preposterous people wouldn't be

  • @HOMEnHIGH talking about her now after she's dead and gone. So brush up on your history before you open you're mouth.

  • @monstermash113 ...taxi for Wigman..

  • lets keep it real...this is just ridiculus..some coked up sad old ragity bitch with too much money and not enough real friends in her life to tell her when shes acting the cunt....there said it....someone had to...what....?

  • @HOMEnHIGH HEY,HOPE ''hOMENHIGH",HOPE YOU FIND YOURSELF SOMEDAY,or even read a book,or travel to europe,ect,BUT WHEN YOU DO FIND YOURSELF ,THEN PLEASE,GO GET LOST,bet you draw,or still do,"genitalia" on books in libraries,""why not carry a sign,so all can know,eh,hey i never read a book,graduated high school,give me money,i am a fucking nobody idiot,proving it everyday in writting,on youtube"",""'U ARE A INSTANT ASSHOLE,JUST ADD AIR

    "

  • @it's ridiculous, and her bong life friends were in the THOUSANDS,SHE WAS EPIC,AND HAD LOTS OF FUN,AND MONEY,DO YOU DOUCHEBAGGET,SUCH A FOOL ON EURYTHMICS,VON LABAN,MARY AND LIFE IN GENERAL,YOU BEEN LICKIN THE BEDPANS AGAIN,BETTER TELL THAT PSYCH NURSE,BAD FOR YA

  • @alezander666 ...shut it twatty

  • theres a carnival ride based off of this..

  • this is pretty cool, and edgy now, but still have to say that expressionism is the down syndrome step child of the art world that lasted too long.

  • Extraordinary!! So impressive. I really love her expression.

  • man that creeps me out! Geez i had to turn it off lol she did a good job at taking on a evil character form... tomuch like a exorcism for me DAMN

  • this is amazing, I am learning about all this for my the subject Art, I'm in the 5th class of Gymnasium here in Holland.

Apart of that, I am a huge fan of Lady Gaga. And in this little vid, I recognize so much of the things Gaga produces. I really think Gaga was inspired bij this type of stuff.

  • Ooooooooooooh myyyyyyyyy Goooooooooooooooooooood!!!

  • anyone got the title of the second last song? or the artist?

  • Lame

  • WTF

  • this is freaking me out.

  • @rokkolpo If this freakes you out what about some of the new stuff.

  • It seems to have a strong resemblance to Butoh, which also makes use of the irrational.

  • I had to study this in art class, and dang, this really gives me nightmares :s

  • I totally agree with you. It's awkward and awesome O_o

  • OMG Mary ROCKS!

  • The original Cabaret Voltaire, Zurich 1916, was in fact the birthplace of Dada.

Dr. Mabuse (the Mr. Grow-Head guy) was a fictional evil genius of horror. He wanted "to destroy the world-- and then rule the ashes." His name is French for 'I abuse myself'. Hardcore badguy.

Some of Mary Wigman's moves in that piece looked rather Shamanist...

  • @SudaXanym what year "

dr.mabuse",was it 1922,was that the one with beautiful ANITA BERBER,onstage, and remember MABUSE'S PARTY,THE BUTLER AT THE DOOR!!!!,ASKING GUESTS "

    ""CARDS,OR COCAINE""",CARDS OR COCAINE,SUCH A DECADENT SOCIETY,EVEN IN EARLY TWENTIES!!!

  • grazie per aver pubblicato questo documento introvabile!

  • Can anyone tell me if this is expressionistic MODERN?

  • yea it is

  • Her witch dance kinda reminds me of the Grudge...but it's cool none the less..

  • Agree Agree xD..

  • reminds me of the witch scene from Kurosawa's film Rashomon

  • Ooh it scears me a little! But I've got to learn/know this dance for my exams art!

  • forget caberet voltaire, they are 1980's retro, the music may be from a record called "Futurism and DaDa", where duchamp explains DaDa-ism. sorry, I can't remember anymore.

  • the music MAY be Caberet Voltaire, still not sure.

  • big head music, I remember hearing that whistle noise in a marcell duchamp DaDa special on public TV, there was a record LP of 1920's music. and that was one of the tracks. Sorry, will try and find more info.

  • Very interesting. I never really appreciated expressionistic choreography, but her witch dance was pretty darn effective.

  • Anyone know what music was playing at the very end... when the man's head started to get big?

  • that scared me :( lmao

  • this would make an interesting sexual position

  • Isn't that vampire Nosferatu? (can't... spell...)

  • Yes.

  • @Zatoru It is Nosferatu, yes :)

  • That vampire was the scariest I`ve ever seen. I remember it from my childhood. Even though I am adult now and I have seen many horrors I still find this particular one as the most realistic and scariest. Masteriece

  • Terrifying!! Well DONE!!!

  • You don't want to know how long I was looking for this dance.

I've seen it on school and I found it awesome!!

  • it reminds me of mommie dearest

  • Scary as fuck..

  • Ganz seltsam!!

  • Very strange, I can see how she is held in such esteem, though.

  • really expressive dancing

  • i can't believe this is on youtube.....so awsome youtube is amazing the fact that I can see things like this rocks....I learned about Mary Wigman in college and haven't been able to see her work since.....by the way she was genius now to see if I can find Loie Fuller (SP)?

  • THANKS SO MUCH!!!

  • Wigman wears a mask here. Mary Wigman was an amazing dancer who revolutionized dancing. Isadora Duncan may be the mother of modern dance but Wigman is its creator. She did her thing and finally, after years and years of hardship, she was deservedly successful.

  • hmm... I'm not convinced on the bit about her movement style impacting cinema -- I wish they'd said a little more instead of just throwing that out there. Thoughts from anyone else on that?

  • omg this is so creepy!

  • very odd

  • Deutscher Witchcraft löst alle

  • wigman is a genius. . look at that wild use of space

  • brill thanx

  • ....hmm! .... interestingly weird!

  • shes a witch its magic

  • man, this stuff is creepier than anything I think I've ever seen...

  • -Bakker-

  • Mry Wigman, una inspiración para la creación en la danza. maravillosa , en verdad una bruja creativa

  • she is weird and scary. im supposed to create a dance based on her for school..ahh

  • gosh, the guy at the end gives me the creeps like no horror movie ever did. do you have any idea what movie it's from? i bet it's Fritz Lang, but what exactly?

  • It is one of his "Dr. Mabuse" films. That character is the good Dr. himself...

  • Dr. Mabuse der Spieler

  • If you still want to know what movie this is, its called 'Nasferatu'. It was made by F.W. Murnau. It's like the original Dracula.

  • nope. it's dr mabuse der spieler, nosferatu was the bald guy. :) i was talking about the creepy fellow at the end

  • Thanks so much for putting this on here. I was trying to describe it just yesterday to someone and decided to go looking for it. Have loved it since saw it in a film of dance clips during a dance class. Wigman was amazing, daring and so powerful.

  • It's originally from a documentary about German Expressionism I saw years ago on Bravo. I downloaded this a couple of years ago from a dance archive website that is long gone. I don't kow of any other Wigman clips. I'll post if I find any.

  • @bobdena

    B

  • Riveting. More!
