  • Badass, my buddy just caught me a Mantis, so stoked!!! I named him Scyther

  • i live right near deerfield ohio 8^)

  • Thank you so much for putting this video up. I love my hummingbirds and was not aware that praying mantis' eat them. Now that I know, my hummingbirds will definately be spared those fkrs.

  • don't know why but this kinda turns me on

  • 17 dislike are male mantises that don't wan't to be eaten when mating!

  • What an opportunis!.Distracted female equals copulation.I wonder if I give my girlfriend Lobster,Shrimp and Crablegs will she respond like that.Oops I forgot the oysters.

  • with that food, the male won't have to worry about being killed...she's already full..

  • i have 7 juvenile giant asian mantis. i catch wild prey for them. spiders , crickets and grasshoppers ,moths , flies , bees and beetles.

  • Methinks that male would have lived. The females eat for energy so the eggs grow faster, but chances are she woulda been nomming on that bird after he'd finished.

I'd hope to god he didn't get her number though...

  • wow! talk about multi-tasking!

getting laid, snacking, and watching traffic zooming by all at the same time!

  • if they where the size of a cat we would still be fucked these thinks tuff

  • thats like a human eating a whole cow

  • scientist should breed these to human size and send them in battle

  • Oh forgot to say, I was once bitten by a mantis, a crippled one I fed w/tweezers(it was very temperamental), it felt like razor blades. I've not been bitten since however.

  • Holy cow I've never seen one eat something like this. I've kept them as pets off and on for 20 years. Hummingbirds are a lot smaller than one imagines. I once came upon one stunned from flying into a window, it came to while in my hand, it was no larger than a hawkmoth.

  • That's pretty much the only way for the male mantis to bang her safely, is to do it while she's eating something. Because if she's not busy eating something else (as you all know) she'll just eat him.

  • wow, if i was a male preying mantis I'd pretty much love to be gay, or be a virgin forever. lol

  • Well, maybe the male survived after this one.

Possibly a lucky break for the male.

  • poor humming bird

  • @TheVraccy i saw a 6 inch mantis eating a four inch lizard. the mantis had chewed thru the neck so the lizard was already dead. kept the mantis for 4 months. before it died it produced 3 egg cases all of which hatched. for the record i fed the mantis spiders and crickets and grasshoppers only.

  • thumbs up if joe rogan brought u here

  • Mating while eating? Think the girlfriend would let me try that with some chicken?

  • I couldn't see that bitch till it moved its head at about 0:50

  • deos anyone know a bug that can kill the praying mantis i love them it is just that they are so undefeatable

  • @TheMarinePlanet yea dude chameleons totally own this guys if a mantis is not carefull

  • ever heard of after mating the female will eat the male?' maybe the male praying mantis dont want to be eaten lol

  • @Thechongtuong the male has to be very careful when approaching the female to mate because if she is hungry she my eat him

  • That thing will kill and eat your cat!

  • that is amazing.

  • I guess you could call this a "birdie" and a "hole in one."

  • Eww It Shit When the Bird Died!

  • Great vid! They also eat fish, mice, frogs & snakes & anything that moves & is protein! Gross looking things, but give 'em 100% for 'guts'! I'm just glad they're not any bigger .. IMAGINE one dropping onto your neck or head out in the bush!

  • the male is lucky this time usually he is the meal

  • Never imagined. Wow.

  • even if they were a size of a dog we fucked

  • It's likely the mating is already over. Male's are less likely to be eaten in the wild than in captivity because they stay on the female's back longer, waiting for her to find a meal before attempting to leave. The "leaving" part is the most dangerous for the male because if the female is hungry she'll attack what she now sees as fleeing prey.

  • if the female is still not full enough...she's gonna eat the male too!! >,<

imagine how powerful the pincers are...she can even take down a rapid wing beat hummingbird!!

  • Thet female is eating Bird? Lucky male :)

  • @pojoskkk it would be like left 4 dead... with preying mantises... God that's scary.

  • @BryanTruong1

Except we would be the zombie meat and 4 Praying Mantises would take on whole towns...

  • holy fuck, that's just crazy

  • That's insane, I thought it was a fake video but looked anyways, great clip!

  • My parents live in Landen!!! That could be a hummingbird my dad has fed with his hummingbird feeder!

    Oh, the horror, the horror!

  • Luky for the male she was eatting that bird.

For if she wasnt he would of been dinner for sure.

  • darn what a bich,,,,,

  • that female is huge!!!!!

  • ah thats the life chewing on some grub while letting your ho Go to work on you

  • @DarkRainUK

pretty sure thats the female eating, the male is on top. id be pissed if my bitch was eating while i was givin it to her

  • @r0llskyay0 well would u rather haver eat u instead?

  • if they were bigger they would eat each other and we wouldnt... most of the time

  • Damn nature! You scary!

  • These things can really eat, huh? I mean, the bird is the same size as the mantis. I don't know about you guys but I normally eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner and that still isn't as much as one of me. Even if the mantis stops eating soon, it looks like she already devoured a good half a bird. Still can't eat that much.

  • DUN dun dunnnnnnn!!!

  • why does the male get eaten after mating?

  • @goodkiller123 cuz he is the closest high energy meal around, and she does it to ensure the eggs in her body will mature faster. nature is both beautiful and brutal!

  • @goodkiller123 cause the male mantis is the closest nutritious meal close to her so the eggs in her body reproduce well.

  • UNDELE IDIOTO thats spanish RUN DUMB BOY/MAN

  • The female didn't want to eat her husband, so she decided to get full by eating a full humming bird. Such a romance story hahaha, dinner and sex. That mantis is HARDCORE xD

  • what?! i thought birds eat insects. now an insect is eating a bird. nature is so weird

  • Because the female is already eating will the male be able to get away?

  • @Soccermaniac3555

Afraid not, the male praying mantis can't copulate with it's head attached to its body, so the second that she's through with the humming bird he's going to be eaten :(

  • @zomgtroll well some species can but the female eats it because its a close high protein meal once it does capulate.

  • @zomgtroll Id say thats a no. Theres about 500 vids of mantis breeding, and in everyone the breeders feed the female during breeding, so she wont eat the male. And hes does his job, head intact every time. Watch a few, youll see.

  • Wow sex and a snack, thats the life

  • The male mantis is the next after the hummingbird

  • this just in on sex weekly!.......new sex position.....mantis style!

  • Aw, she didn't bite off his head! That's the best part!!

  • if praying mantis were like humans.. ill just rub my self rather than having sex >:D

  • Too bad he doesn't have a freezer.

  • Very cool !

  • The male mantis has chosen to mate, so he won't get eaten afterwards, since the female is already eating.

  • So THAT'S what it looks like when Marge gets in bed with Homer with a whole roast turkey!

  • Well he's one lucky bug! Hope she was to full to eat him afterwards. Great video.

  • chances are good for the male: the bird is larger and tastier

  • I think the male is totally safe here. Lucky guy, he can shag another day!

  • its like a cig after sex... but during !!!

  • thats one big mantis

  • Wow. Making love and eating your cake too!! How much better could life get?!

  • maybe the male can make a run for it while the female is eating

  • That is incredible. Huge footage points to you

  • One word: Focus!

  • mantises are beasts!! ahaahaha

  • poor male mantis... not only does he finish doing the nasty in seconds, but she becomes immediately bored with him and finds more interest in eating a bird. hahahha great shot though :D

  • Better than what she would have done to him if she hadn't found the bird.

Hell, he probably saw she was already eating something and went "OPPORTUNITY!"

  • Cough cough spit dang biting off things spitting more feathers .....

No..... !!! I've been cheated!!! There is only 4 grams of meat on this chicken!!!!

    hmm .....

"If that's all there is my friends, then let's keep dancing ...."

  • That is the rarest shot ever! holy shit! wow! great job. :)

  • not really..

  • this is so hot. after catching a quick little target, she gets banged. what a blood orgy

  • @Imyourfather69 you sick fuck

  • if praying mantis were as big as humans we'd be fucked.

  • @Pojoskkk lol true dat

  • guns>praying mantis and also theres SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much humans on planet it wouldnt be a threat

  • Hell, if they were as big as a dog, we'd be fucked...

  • @Pojoskkk totaly agree

  • @Pojoskkk guns my friend, we have guns

  • @Pojoskkk even if they are the size of chickens we'd be fucked

  • @Makoflakes shit.. babies would go missing in seconds... a fucking spider movie all over again

  • @Pojoskkk we got guns.. as long as we dont run ut of ammo were good other wise... yes we are...

  • @tedyesca No need to worry, we make new ammo every day. constantly. And they have secret reserves of ammo all across the world.

  • @Pojoskkk lol

  • @Pojoskkk LOL!! I was thinking the same thing. They don't even have the decency to suffocate you like lions; they pretty much start chomping on you while you're alive.

  • @Pojoskkk

if a mantis was about knee height and had proportuinal weight, wed be fucked

  • @Pojoskkk great idea ill get my radioactive kit and do that!

  • @Pojoskkk Praying Mantis are cool but even if it was big would it stand a chance against an automatic shotgun?

  • @Darkstarfoxx, REMEMBER, some people don't have guns...

  • @Pojoskkk praying mantis are weak creatures,.. no living creature can exterminate us except forces of nature or other humans, like war's or polution, further we are at the top of the food chain... we can easely exterminate all animals big or small within 1 year where ever on this planet on the deepest on the ocean floor to the highest mountains

  • @socomsix19 wat about sharks crocodiles, lions, tigers and others?

  • @Pojoskkk That's right Joe

  • @Pojoskkk

    but we have weapons

    lol

  • @Pojoskkk been listening to the joe rogan podcast?

  • @TheJoshMarch That's funny as hell I am watching this because of the podcast... I want to find the video he was talking about where the mantis is disguised as a leaf and the vid shows him catch it.

  • @Pojoskkk Im pretty sure thats what the gatherers said about cavebears and mammuths, as well.

Im glad the hunters didnt agree.

  • @Pojoskkk Yo don't be too scared take your your bazooka!

  • The male mantis is fucking lucky. If she wasnt eating the hummingbird she would of eaten him right after the sex.

  • thank allah this thing is tiny

  • Hummingbird got owned. :o

  • nice work littel mantis catsh a bird lol and have sex at the same time. thats my next thing on my to do in my life list xD

  • sex + food = lol

  • >:D

  • aww poor birdy. :(

  • the true definition of a badass.

  • poor hummingbird but thats nature for ya.

  • eating during sex? OMFG GENIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @PeeKay1Productions

there was a whole Seinfeld episode on it.

  • @PeeKay1Productions

I do it all the time

  • @PeeKay1Productions Duhhhhh, feeding her before finishing is a brilliant idea. He'll most likely see another day because of that........ unless, of course, the male would die anyway after doing the deed!?.

  • @PeeKay1Productions lets hope it doesnt eat the male...

  • Aren't these endangered?

  • most mantids actually aren't endangered but some are. same with hummingbirds.

  • Holy shit, i never knew Mantis's could, or even would want to eat a bird. That's awesome.

  • this bug is one badass!

  • I like how mantises turn their heads and do a staring contest with whatever they are looking at. Two of my pet mantises are doing that right now, hehe.

  • those two mantises are males

  • I think that was two females.

  • WHOA! LESBEON MATIDS

  • Finish fast and get out of there little dude!!! D8

  • mutitasking at its finest and the male is lucky she is occupied hahaha great timing indeed

  • Arbitar,No, it was chewing its right front leg off. Mrclean (below) said it was disease.

  • hahahaha

I didn't even see the Praying Mantis! I thought it was a twig!

  • And that is exactly how these "death machines" are able to snag things like this hummingbird. I have a bunch of mantids in a tree outside my apartment and they are having a field day with devouring bees. Hell, I have a pair of mantids that are mating right now.

  • "pair" not anymore! XD

  • that's pretty gross.. but check out my video response up above. it's a time lapse video of a preying mantis eating a whole dragonfly in under an hour

  • we all have to admit this is nature and it still would have aten it even if the camera wasent watching

  • how would i find a mamtis

  • you dont find mantids. mantids find you;) literally thats how i found my two:)

  • ZOMG!!!!!!!!!!

  • My neighbor out here in the Sierra's photographed a praying mantis eating its own front leg. Near by was another smaller mantis. Any explanation out there????

  • diesese

  • Humping and eating at the same time, very talented...hahaha

  • trombare e mangiare insieme....wow..

  • that mantis is living the life

  • Look on the bright side. At least the female has no reason to eat the male now that it has a full stomach lol.

  • Dude, the hummingbird can FLY and thats a BUG, thats like, super ultra uber mega 40-year-old-who-loves-Voltron FAIL

  • actually not really lol praying mantises eat most insects, small birds and even snakes

  • i didnt even know it was there intil like a minuete into the video !!!!!

    XD

  • lol me to

  • sex needs food

  • a big mantis female wouldnt have much trouble with a humming tbh and they aren't scavengers,

for the ppl saying it didnt catch it etc.

  • ......

  • Thats wicked!!!

  • Wouldn't be the first time a mantis has caught a hummingbird, and these are the right size for it. Coincidentally, since these are wilds, the male probably did get away-- they usually do, since if they make it through mating, because they're quite a bit faster than females.

  • amazing!!!!1

  • insect porn is hot!

  • Guessing that male was a smart one (omg!) considering females eat the males after mating... catch her a bird and wallah!

  • you can tell that the bird was already dead, I don't think the mantis caught it but is just being a scavenger

  • naaahh mantises only eat what they catch

  • In fact, if a praying mantis drops a chunk of its food, it won't even pick it up to finish it. It's as if, once it is out of their hands it is no longer food, but just an object.

  • The male took her out to dinner, HOW SWEET. TEE HEE.

  • insects rarely gross me out, but this is creepy. I don't know why, it's just weird how the mantises head is right in the bird just chewing everything. Honestly praying mantii are probably the only insect that grosses me out. Not even taratualas bother me, even if the spider was eating the bird it wouldn't bother me so much.

  • do u also realise the female mantis is also mating simultaneous

  • That male is lucky maybe she will spare his life after lol.

  • hey...maybe if she eats the bird she wont eat him when he's done.

  • Sex and food. Ahh... Good old life.

  • That is absolutely amazing that they can catch a hummingbird!!

  • it didnt catch it it was already dead it just happened to be there while they fucked XD

  • A preying mantis will not eats dead food. I would say it caught this guy already injured.
