Ask the police how they would feel if they were commanded to disarm their peacefully protesting and law abiding mothers, fathers, sister, brothers, children and friends. Because if Martial Law is ordered, they will be asked to do that.

As for Katrina? They brought in the National Gaurd for that. I'm going to guess that none of the Gaurds actually knew any of the people they rounded up, bullied and/or aimed their guns at. Under those conditions, The People begin to look like cattle.

What we need to do is educate members of the police and military we know so that they will be aware of the issues which might lead to an unconstitutional order for martial law.

If they understand the issues and come to realize that they have a duty to protect the very people they will be asked to turn their weapons upon, perhaps they will refuse to take such orders.

Yes, I did see what happened during Katrina - we all did. But I have a hard time believing that all police and armed forces would act this way if directed to. I would hope that our men and women in uniform have more of a conscience than those that patrolled Katrina. Besides what I'm talking about is something on a national level.
