I've always hunted in Michigan. My average shot is 25 yards with a 50 cal smokepole that always drops them DRT. But the long range stuff looks fun! Just don't shoot at anything you might only cripple. Some hunters are great at long range, and some just wound a lot.
I like the rifle but prefer Leupold for durability. I used them on my sniper rifles in the SPOD by choice. I would love to try a 338 Lapua versus a 300 win mag to see the difference besides price. They have M700s in 338 Lapua with detachable mags now.
Nice looking rifle and NightForce scope, I'm guessing a Weatherby? I can't tell what NIghtForce scope however. If I'm wrong about the rifle, do let me know.
If a Weatherby, I'm hopeful I one in a 5.6 284, but then again, you only get a couple thousand rounds through the barrel...maybe on the outside 3k.
BTW...you guys lookin for a great .338 and dont want to spend $4000+
Look at Armalite AR-30 and the savage 110 BA (what i have...VERY satisfied)
Speakin in terms of the savage...If this gun had a different name on the side of it...this would easily be in the AI price range. I was hitting .6 groups at 200yards.
@chewy4rce If your gun shoots 6" groups at 200 yards that is a pile of crap !
Todays guns should produce at least 1 inch and under groups at 200 yards and if the gun doesn't you have a defective gun or some cheap made crap plain and simple .
Its been asked before. but i couldnt see a answer to it. the question is "What pda and ballistics program are you using. i am extremely interested in knowing as i am getting a .338 lapua in the next month or two.
Try B.O.R.S. bud...its not limited to barrett rifles...only the optics you can match it to. Great stuff...even comes with a range finder (i consider it a backup). Plus it really gets rid of the bulk you would carry with you. The only thing you really have to calculate is windage once you know the range. Bors even calculates rifle on angles...all in real time
@chewy4rce yea very nice system that B.O.R.S. but know of anything that doesn't cost $2700 not including customs fees i will have to pay on it. and taxes.
@heckya06 Great spot of shooting there Heckya06. Congrats from over here in Britain. Im a serving member of the British military..Royal Marine Commando's and use the AI AW rifle which is a .338 LM weapon so i can testify to just what these rounds can do..blisteringly accurate in the right hands. Im over to the US on a hunting trip later in the year, hope to get as much sport as you guys have had..be a nice welcome back to civilisation from Helmand, Afghanistan for me haha. Thanks for the vid.

@Moldovawineimporter i think he was talkin about MOA, not inches. But if he did mean inches... it kinda sounds like an airsoft gun

BORS is 1300 dollars standalone and around 2500 bundled with scope...You can save some money. No custom fees. And no taxes if you order out of state.
