  • Circumflexs are so cool, I'm a Slovene-American and my surname was spelled with an Š once, but it got changed to an Sh, I wish I could change it to be spelled like that again.

  • Dude, nice video. I'm sorry to tell you, though, that the little thing over the z, c, s is not a circumflex. It's a caron, also known as a háček.

  • Mislim, da je slovenščina zelo krasen jezik, ampak nažalost ne govorim dobro slovensko... :( Moja mama je bila leta 2007 na Slovenskem in je prinesla kartice v slovenskem jeziku - in točno zato sem hotel se učiti slovensko.

  • hahaha little roofs XD

But seriously studying slovenian is a waste of time. Almost everybody here know english... at least a little bit...

In Slovenia is less than two million people so... brezveze -.-

  • Thank you for these videos. I have been to Slovenia in the summer of 2010 and would love to learn some more. I have looked for Slovenian on Rosetta Stone and Pimsleur and they do not have any Slovenian. I would greatly appreciate more videos. Perhaps with more depth. Thanks again

  • Weird question maby, but me and my friend (19 year old girls) are gonna go backpacking in Slovenia next week, We just guessed it's safe :p

Maybe someone can tell us whether or not we just made a huge mistake? Haha!

  • @roeltiesmoeltie Slovenia is really safe don't worry :). I come from Slovenia and trust me there's not many countires as save as Slovenia :)

  • i can some lesason to talk

it is a:peder=gej kurac=dick kurba HORE

  • haha laško je tabujš!

  • lej nisi slovensko nvš.. ke se te siliš neke.. kdo te hoče sploh vejet slovensko??

  • very cool! I'm going to check out your lessons and share them with my family. 100 years ago my great great grandparents moved to the US, and so the only Slovene I know is food words (potica, dunajski zrezek, etc.) and maybe hello. Glad to have found this. Thank you.

  • Nasvidenje sounds a lot like the German word for goodbye, aufvidersen.

  • @dsaraga More like Russian "do svidanya". "Na" and "do" in front of svidenje are basically prepositions, therefore both words are mutual in both languages.

  • Does the Slovenian alphabet contain the letters Q, W, X, and Y?

  • @dsaraga No, because Slovene, more or less, follows the rule of one sound one letter, therefore those letters are needless.

"Q" is made of sounds "k"+"u" and "x" of "k"+"s". But since not many Slovene words use sounds in that particular combination, "x" is even more useless.

No need for "y", since "i" can cover up that sound, the same with "w" if you can use "v" instead.

  • @dsaraga no, but it has č, š, ž

  • @dsaraga as far as i know it dosent.

  • jz ne vem zakaj si ta video sploh naredo, če si sam par besed povedal, namesto da bi povedal stavke in dal odspodaj podnapise haha

  • dude.. i'm sorry, but you just CAN'T speak english.

  • Hahahaha :)))

  • dovidzenia, u Ľubľani, šicke Sloveňi, dobre, že tot strik nas nemuši učic po sloveňsky

  • a ti je všeč slovensko

  • Juxtaposition: It's a CARON, not a CIRCUMFLEX.

    Pozdrav iz Beograda ;)

  • res dobra ideja pokazat ostalim se nas jezik... na tak nacin se lahko vsak nauci vsaj glavne stvari... upam, da bom naucila svoje prijatelje italijane vsaj baze slovenscine... hvala!!!!

  • i live in slowenia

  • @yerowww In Ljubljana they say konj? last I heard they say "horsy". ;)

It's complicated indeed mostly because standard Slovene misses more defined usage of "Schwa"(polglasnik) vowel. Although it's often used when pouncing, in some cases it's not even used and abandoned but on the other hand sometimes it's replaced by "e" especially in dialects. In Celje they pronounce as "pesa" I pronounce as "pəsa".

  • Thank you Paterson245 for your Slovene lesson.

  • heheh pošteno ;) naj se zna da obstaja sLOVEnija <3

    pozdrav iz štajerske <3

    keep on doing it!

  • thanks a lot man!!!

  • you might be calling the little roof a "circumflex", but it is really a "caron" :P circumflex is a caron turned upside down ...

  • heh, for me this is not a problem, because it s similar to slovak (my native language) and this pronounciation of those č,š,ž.. is the same....but we ve got even ľ ->in slovene lj..and ť,ý,á,í,é,ó,ú,ô,ä, :P

  • haha i don't need any, i already speak slovene!! hahaha
