Amazingly you pointed out two incredible performances, by two incredible actors that each failed to get the awards they most certainly deserved. In some regards, they were awarded more then any metal sculpture could ever represent by the fans who are the viewing audience. Reese is a good actress and she's really sweet, looks like a little doll. I liked her in "The Importance of Being Earnest"...very serious and good actress, it seems she doesn't get much publicity. Also Joaquin, who I love, is a "true" actor. I appreciate both of them.

As a lifelong Johnny Cash fan I was thrilled with this movie adaptation of Johnny Cash's life, Joaquin channeled Cash's spirit so honestly it gave me chills, I truly think Cash channeled Phoenix in this film, apparently Phoenix dropped a whole octave in the week before the shooting commenced, and the songs he sung were so close to Cash's singing voice it was spooky..I think this film is a remarkable tribute to one of the best American singers in our history.

I mean, the acting and singing was great and all...but I was a bit disappointed with the movie...(I am a DIE-HARD Juney and John fan though, so that might make me a bit biased on the actors already.) As much as I love Reese and Joaquin...They didn't do all that great of a job...and the movie lacked a lot of historical stuff.

It's just that...much of the historical stuff was off/wrong. John Carter (although very involved) didn't like the movie too much nor did Johnny Cash's daughter...she hated it.

Plus, the movie made Vivian the ever-pregnant woman that hates Johnny who only was a block between the John/June fairytale marriage.

Some characters were very developed and others lacked a lot. Plus they called Carlene Carlene....her name at the time was Rebecca.

The way I heard/understood it, Rosanne didn't care for the film because she basically had to watch the downfall of her parents' marriage. Although she loved June, it would be hard to see your family history and all the gory details up there on the big screen for everyone to see. It would be like reliving your parents' problems and divorce...and really, who wants to do that? I, however, loved both Reese and Joaquin and the movie! Despite what may be inaccurate, it was a great portryal of J&J.

He didn't actually pick out joaquin, he was a really big fan of him in gladiator, and did know the lines, but he didn't actually pick him out to play him, one of the producers showed a picture of joaquin to the director and then went from there.. he was an excellent choice though.
