  • NIA is not "trying to be martial arts", they combine many elements, martial arts being ONE of the included elements. I was introduced to NIA about 3 years ago, and I absolutely LOVE it, I had to quit my Jazzercise, because all that pounding was too hard on my knees. I get a good workout with NIA, without pounding, panting and it is FUN !

Sorry I accidently posted my comment twice !

  • This is crap ! trying to be martial arts, but not even close, they don't even sweat, how is this supposed to be training ! Do real martial arts instead and get the whole package.

  • NIA is amazing, the next thing!

  • I've been taking this as a class in college. NIA is amazing. It may not be "new movements" but it's the combination of them that makes it so special. It's an entire body and mind workout, most of all it's fun! I dont dread doing it at all like i would sometimes dread going to the gym and working on the same machines which is very repetitive and boring. If your looking for something that is fun and healthy for your body and soul NIA is for you. Will be continuing on my own!

  • Nia is an amazing program. It has totally transformed my life.

  • clever business idea, it even comes with a logo (and a t shirt presumably). people go for it like for some sort of sect / cult.

of course the techniques are nothing new, all elements are ,stolen' from existing techniques, from dance to martial arts.

  • @dvdgiga well, they clearly state that they use movements are not new and are taken from things like yoga, dance and martial arts don't they, so what's your point?

  • Wow, I want to try it. I wonder how, as I don't think we have it where I live. Any DVD?

  • THE LANGUAGE OF UNITY:

    Independent - EMBRACE FREE WILL

NIA is PART of the Holistic Health program we are designing. It is TIME to create something ENTIRELY DIFFERENT. To unite the BEST of the INDEPENDENT PARADIGMS in the WORLD.

NIA - which I do - transforms your perspective moment by moment

Imagine shifting consciousness from moment to moment. If you need strength BE that. Flexibility BE that. You MUST experience this and YOU WILL....

    WE are just getting started.

    Its about FUN.

  • I've get started my Nia Class in Tokyo. Nia really have changed my life.

  • I have been doing NIA for 8 months. I am continuously learning more and more about how my body is structured to move, and how efficiency is improvement as I use it as whole system, not just isolated pieces like pumping iron on the biceps or abs. The benefits in my everyday life are too numerous to number.. including a strong sense of balance, relief of joint pain, and a clear headedness. My body reminds me to exercise if I miss too many days. It LOVES the way it feels after a workout.

  • Nia changed my life, my body, my mind and me. Nia is a living, lifelong learning experience to have and to share share share! If you haven' t done it, just do it, okay. :)

  • Nia is a lifestyle, great fun for all ages!

  • embarrasing

  • WTF!?

  • NIA is the bomb! :)

  • Nia is the total business!!! This is such a fantastic way to get fit and have the most amazing fun at the same time. I never get bored of doing it - so much so that I've trained to become a Nia teacher. My aim is to get the people of East London dancing Nia. They won't be disappointed!!!

  • From viewing this video, the NIA Technique is something I would consider. Haven't tried it yet. It is fantastic that our dear friend has gone the extra mile to share and extend this wonderful technique! Thanks SF! peace.

  • NIA = Neuromuscular Integrated Action and despite its complicated name it is empowering and and fun! NIA's founders are Carlos + Debbie Rosas from CALIFORNIA, USA.

  • heya i do nia i have been doing it nearly 3 years i dont wanna stop

  • NIA- Non-Impact Arobics is well know in Persia-Iran for thousands years and it is base for many dances & excersies. New version of NIA with certain CD are too intersting and explanantions comes in certain videos about NIA seems excessive & sometimes stupid. In general NIA is very effective exercise that in sudden building up the energy. Person must be fit before starting NIA & use caution at the bigining Good Luck with NIA, no doubt that all Iranian LOVE NIA D

  • @iran20007 NIA has all different levels, anybody can do NIA. My NIA instructor also has a class for senior citizens.

  • I used to take the NIA classes in Portland with Debbie and Carlos. All that is said here is true...it is absolutely amazing and wonderful.

  • Nia is a life saver! It has benefitted me in every way possible.

  • Nia's little secret, some people might not see in this video, comes from the healthy, healing images, the instructor invokes with her words. The creativity of mind while using our bodies is incredibly powerful. I also get such a sense of strength and simultaneous release, yelling loudly while doing kicks and blocks.

There's such joy dancing with a fun, exciting, and welcoming group of women. Thanks to our instructor , Val McGiverin in Brampton, Ontario (and 'no' she didn't pay me to write this!)

  • So happy to know about this video! Now when I tell others how much fun this way of getting fit is, I will also recommend they watch this video to better understand why I remain so enthused about NIA year after year! I have gained a level of grace,co-ordination,and total body connection that I had wished for but could not find before I began my relationship with NIA. It's wonderful. I love it! The odds are strong you will too!

  • What a fantastic Video! I am very impressed, and am thrilled to send it on to friends. I am so happy to be part of the Nia dance technique. Bravo to the producers of this video! Cindy Buim

  • it says it all - Nia POWERFUL! It has changed my life.

  • Wow, wow, and more wow! I love the Nia Technique. One of the best things I did in my life was to go for my White Belt in Nia and become a part-time instructor. Now I'm adding more belts, going deeper in the Nia practice. What amazes me is that Nia looks so easy, perhaps silly, but as I am continuing my Mind-Body-Spirit education with Nia I realize Nia is where Art, Science, and Craft beautifully intersects!

  • i have two DVDs and i just wish i had more. i would have never expected to use any DVD more than twice, which i did for the NIA DVDs. i also tried shiva rea but i dropped it very soon...

  • This is wonderful! I am a NIA believer, I've never felt better or had more fun while working out. It really is almost addictive, and this from a person who has had personal trainers, done diet centers, etc. and had no joy or success. Spread the NIA word!

  • WOW!
