It should've went Greg's a stoner and sells drugs for a job There's a cross dresser by the name of Peter The youngest one's a slob Meet our sisters, only one's pretty That is Marcia, the sweetest boobie bitch There's a psycho by the name of Jan The youngest girl's a snitch Get ready for illegal adventures As we deal in black market pets We'll steal pandas and rare talking birds And sell lots of funny cigarettes
I wonder how would Mike, Carol and Alice would have looked in animated form if they would have been included in the cartoon series? Or if they would have made at least made a guest appearance?

@Plumavision You should give both feature films a chance--they're both absolutely HILARIOUS! They poke fun at how shallow and unrealistic the show was (and this is coming from someone who NEVER liked The Brady Bunch).
@jimpsyd It might have something to do with the appearances of Superman, Wonder Woman and I think The Lone Ranger and their respective copyright holders.
Já me disseram que este desenho nunca existiu!!! Taí a prova!! The Brady Kids!!! Tudo bem que eu era "pitina" quando assistia meu eu tenho uma memória de elefante!!! YES!!!
I remember there is a scene in this cartoon where they play musical instruments: Greg is on lead guitar/vocals, Jan is on keys, Peter on bass, Cindy on rhythm guitar, Marcia is singing and playing tambourine, and Bobby is on drums.
I do remember this and have several episodes recorded back in the late '90s when TVLand aired this, during the time when it was the REAL TVLand. Now it is drowned in all this reality hoop la.
@ScorpioBornIn69:Bullshit-only HALF of the shows on the channel are reality shows, the rest are new sitcoms similar to the old ones that were rerun endlessly.
@Neville6000 That is what my point is. At least 50% aired on TvLand are reality based shows while the rest are just endless reruns of Gun Smoke, Banaza and so forth.
@MattTheSaiyan - They did release 2 eps as a bonus on the Brady Bunch complete series box set, but yeah, you'd think Paramount would've released the complete series by now!
I wonder how much effort it took to write that song... sounds like it was written in 5 minutes or less! I think the cartoon was more or less an effort to introduce the Bradys as a singing group, a la the Partridge Family (only the Bradys actually sing). A snippet of the cartoon can be seen in A Very Brady Sequel, one of the funniest moments of the sequel.
@TheFrankenstein72 I`m actually surprised neither of those became sitcoms, considering they both appealed to that Saturday morning age demographic in that era.
I remember this cartoon, watching this brings back such fun memories, my favorite was the talking magpie, I was living in New Jersey ( Puddingstone ) at the time!
When I was a kid, Peter Brady was one of the first guys I ever "liked". Thing is, I was so young I didn't know why I "liked" him, or wanted to be with him. @Lehnerd57 Yep, Filmation knew how save a buck. They used the same "rotoscope" movements in their action shows as well. From Star Trek-all the was to He Man and Blackstarr!
@Smartboy8877 Yep. NBC Saturday mornings '73 to '74. It starred the voices of the original cast except Walter Koenig (but he wrote one or two episodes). I loved it when I was 7, but it's really hard to watch now. Filmation was working on limited budget and time. Mistakes can be seen in many episodes.
on a serious subject...I often wonder if voice actors for cartoons For "Any Cartoon" don't feel a bit silly or embarassed saying the lines in a script.. Yes it is a job and they do a great job for cartoons. but I wonder if they don't feel embarassed about it....Same could be said for Dialog in a TV show or movie.
Considering how hard it is to get ONE panda from China, and how illegal it would be, one has to wonder just what the Brady kids DID or WHO they did, to get them Pandas? Hmmmm
@markxxx21 There was an episode about where they met up with those pandas. I remember it because they sang "Time to Change" in it, without Peter's voice cracking.
did they call Jan groovy cause she was a pot smoking, stoner hippie??? lol....that would have been a cool plot element for the regular series ...jan the drop out

Does anyone have the closing credits? If nothing else, the rotating "Prescott/Scheimer" thing probably gets its best placement there, right at Moptop and Ping and Pong's appearance.
@TheFrankenstein72 unfortunately, probably none. Especially in this day & age where tv's dominated by reality based shows and not too many quality sitcoms exist anymore
@TheFrankenstein72: Burn Notice, Supernatural (about to become an anime show), Buffy The Vampire Slayer (almost a show for Fox Kids) Angel,Stargate, Firefly, The X-Files, Babylon 5, Star Trek TNG, Voyager, DS9, Enterprise, the Transformers movies, Tron Legacy (about to have an animated spinoff) Stargate, Stargate Atlantis, Human Target, Hawaii Five-O...there's a surprising lot that could have animated spinoffs.
@ebbowman Multiple factors. Sitcoms often deal with adult situations (by which I mean work, relationship, raising kids) and they don't have any angle to slant for a children's demographic. Secondly, these cartoons were ties ins to network shows. Networks have been wanting to get out of Saturday Morning for years now, as newscasts are more profitable. And lastly, few of them are even that good or add anything to the show to begin with. I'd rather watch original characters in an original show
....who were then protested publicly by Sara Gilbert of the ultimate ANTI-Brady Bunch show, Roseanne, and the ultimate anti-Brady Bunch FAMILY, the Connors--for testing on ANIMAL PRODUCTS [the company actually didn't as much as thought..I hate animal testing but the company, who shall go nameless, should be thanked for standing up to an anti-Marcia Brady LOL.]
7DARKHELLS , Filmation ran from 1963 to the late 80's with He-man and She-ra being one of the last cartoon shows they worked on and some TV or theater movie called Happily ever after.
I loved this cartoon when I was young. The Brady Bunch is a television icon whether it's episodes of the t.v. show or the animated version. I personally loved both of them.
During the song segments, the studio traced over the same limited animation cells used for when the Archies sang. Archie was turned into Greg,Reggie was Peter,Jughead-Bobby,Veronica-Marcia,Betty-Jan,and a tiny little Cindy, playing a tiny little guitar, took the spot in front of the bass drum formerly occupied by Jughead's canine pal,Hot Dog. Kids weren't supposed to notice Filmation's laziness and cheapness, but, boy,we sure did...
I loved this cartoon. Sure, A Very Brady Sequel had it right, it is totally drug induced (the bird can talk and is also a wizard), but that's what made it so awesome!
We all know Chris Knight couldn't sing, So either Eve Plump sang that part or they had him speak it but added sound effects to make it sound like he sang it.
I replayed it several times and it sounds like him.
JUST WHEN IS THIS COMING TO DVD??? I have to admit, I have LONG OUTGROWN the Brady Bunch itself, but this is DEFINITELY one the true gems, when Filmation was at its peak (along with Archies, Sabrina, Groovie Goolies, Fat Albert, and My Favorite Martians). Oh well, c'est la vie, guess some things just aren't meant to be (then again, it's always nice to dream about it)
@DoinaSambaFan: This show will never come to DVD, there are too many rights issues related to the show's use of DC Comics characters (owned by Warner Bros.) And to be frank, this show sucked anyway.
@Neville6000 Thanks a bunch for the heads-up, even though, for the record, I seriously doubt if it sucked in any way whatsoever. It IS in the exact same vein with all the other Filmation shows from that era (like I had stated in my other post here, Archies, Sabrina, and so on). Anyway, I cannot fathom what's with all the rights issues, given Hanna-Barbera's use of Batman and Robin in 1972's New Scooby-Doo Mysteries (and yes, I know they're both under Time-Warner, but diff. animation studio)
@Smartboy8877: The concept sucked big monkey balls because of the limitedness of the animation, the ridiculous storyline and supporting characters (the cartoon bird and dog)-I could go on,but I won't. Also, not having the other members of the family (not having Carol & Mike is pure stupidness.)
Because I have only seen a few episodes of this cartoon and that was when I was only eleven and twelve, I am unable to really agree or disagree with you. However, if I get to get reaquainted with the show in syndication or if I find episodes uploaded onto You Tube or other sites on the Internet, I will get back to you with how I feel.
I remember this show. I think it is clever how they re-worded the theme song from the original show for the cartoon series. Too bad that this cartoon show is rarely shown.
Actually not true. Lou Scheimer himself had admitted that, in 1986, he sold the company, sight unseen, to L'Oreal Cosmetics. What on Earth would a multi-million dollar cosmetics firm want with a successful animation studio, who knows...
" Lou Scheimer .... sold the company, ./., to L'Oreal .,. What on Earth would a multi-million dollar cosmetics firm want with a successful animation studio, who knows... "
And a studio thsat did crappy shows..L'oreal, supposedly tests on animals, Sara Gilbert in 1991 rallied AGAINSTthem.I've even heard-and this may be a connection...-that Filmaiton is Christian...hm.then again how sucessful, if WArners Bros quality , WAS the child orentated Fiklmation hee hee heh
Besides, as far as the DIC-Filmation link goes, it just so happens that Robby London, one DIC's top producers/associates, used to write scripts at Filmation. As for who owns Filmation, its holdings (I think) now belong to Entertainment Rights DVD--another Filmation mystery :-/
Paramount would have to have a clearance from D.I.C. enterprises to release it, since they own Filmation. Believe it or not, few animated clips from this cartoon were used in the second Brady Bunch movie.
They did have parents, and were seen (or heard from) at least once since I clearly remember it. But I think after the first episode the kids were lost in some time machine or something and that's why the parents weren't shown.
It's great seeing this again after 35 years - now if someone could put up the music videos The Brady Kids did in the cartoon show. That would be excellent!
Wait no one noticed the pandas were named Ping & Pong?

Moptop looks identical to the Archies' Moptop, except the Brady one is mostly brown

We all know Chris Knight couldn't sing, So either Eve Plump sang that part or they had him speak it but added sound effects to make it sound like he sang it.
I replayed it several times and it sounds like him.
Astraldragon1 2 years ago
@Astraldragon1 Oddly enough it was Chris Knight and Maureen McCormick who made an album together.

Oh well, c'est la vie, guess some things just aren't meant to be (then again, it's always nice to dream about it)
DoinaSambaFan 2 years ago
@DoinaSambaFan: This show will never come to DVD, there are too many rights issues related to the show's use of DC Comics characters (owned by Warner Bros.) And to be frank, this show sucked anyway.
Neville6000 1 year ago
@Neville6000 Thanks a bunch for the heads-up, even though, for the record, I seriously doubt if it sucked in any way whatsoever. It IS in the exact same vein with all the other Filmation shows from that era (like I had stated in my other post here, Archies, Sabrina, and so on). Anyway, I cannot fathom what's with all the rights issues, given Hanna-Barbera's use of Batman and Robin in 1972's New Scooby-Doo Mysteries (and yes, I know they're both under Time-Warner, but diff. animation studio)
DoinaSambaFan 1 year ago
I have to agree on all accounts. LOL!!! The youngest one is Bob

@Neville6000
What exactly do you feel sucked about this series?
Smartboy8877 1 year ago
@Smartboy8877: The concept sucked big monkey balls because of the limitedness of the animation, the ridiculous storyline and supporting characters (the cartoon bird and dog)-I could go on,but I won't. Also, not having the other members of the family (not having Carol & Mike is pure stupidness.)
Neville6000 7 months ago
@Neville6000
Smartboy8877 7 months ago
@Neville6000 And Paramount won't allow it to happen either because they own the rights to anything "Brady Bunch" related.
it's a shame media companies have gotten so territorial...

I remember this show. I think it is clever how they re-worded the theme song from the original show for the cartoon series. Too bad that this cartoon show is rarely shown.

I remember this show from when I was in 2nd grade. But I lost interest in season 2 when they changed actors for some of the kids' voices.

I was in second grade then too.

I have to laugh at how obviously this isn't "Peter" singing. I know Chris Knight can't sing but man.

Paramount would have to have a clearance from D.I.C. enterprises to release it, since they own Filmation. "
DIC Productions owns Filmation?
SteveCarras 2 years ago

DoinaSambaFan 2 years ago
@DoinaSambaFan: It WAS owned by Entertainment Rights LLC; now it's owned by Classic Media (also the owners of half of the Rankin Bass library.)

That was pretty cool. I used 2 watch the brady bunch all the time when I was little. Now,I watch it very rarely. I love a very brady sequel.

Paramount would have to have a clearance from D.I.C. enterprises to release it, since they own Filmation. Believe it or not, few animated clips from this cartoon were used in the second Brady Bunch movie.

Today, D.I.C. is now under Cookie Jar Entertainment. The name change occurred in July 2008.

They never did explain why they no longer had parents.
cooperrileyhenry 3 years ago
They did have parents, and were seen (or heard from) at least once since I clearly remember it. But I think after the first episode the kids were lost in some time machine or something and that's why the parents weren't shown.
