  • Wait no one noticed the pandas were named Ping & Pong?

  • sucked this cartoon did

  • @stardaddyo9 LOL!!!!!!! OH GOSH YES but a fun time to look back and laugh!

  • @stardaddyo9 Thanks Yoda

  • Wow, Cindy, Bobby, and Peter don't get any compliments?

  • @PinkThursdayy I never noticed that.

  • Why did the annoying bird have to be named Marlon?

  • It should've went Greg's a stoner and sells drugs for a job There's a cross dresser by the name of Peter The youngest one's a slob Meet our sisters, only one's pretty That is Marcia, the sweetest boobie bitch There's a psycho by the name of Jan The youngest girl's a snitch Get ready for illegal adventures As we deal in black market pets We'll steal pandas and rare talking birds And sell lots of funny cigarettes
  • I wonder how would Mike, Carol and Alice would have looked in animated form if they would have been included in the cartoon series? Or if they would have made at least made a guest appearance?

  • Is that tiger with those two pandas?

  • @poprocks360360 no the dog in the cartoon was called Moptop

  • I remember this one. Ping and Pong, the two Panda bears were my favorite ones, just from the way they talked....@#$%&^@#*@%&. I do miss these filmation classics.

  • Thumbs up if u saw this on cracked.com

  • so that explains the pandas and the bird the guy in the brady movie saw when he was on shrooms....

  • Seeing this acid trip makes me happy I wasn't around in the 70's.

  • 'See our sisters, they're all quite pretty'

Jan is the only kid who describes herself, and Marcia and Greg are the only ones who have compliments for descriptions.

Also, the don't give you much time to 'meet the sisters' and 'meet the brothers.'

And Peter, Bobby and Cindy would not feel too special.

  • @TroubleTeam1968

I actually think it's Christopher Knight singing the "Jan is groovy" part. His voice was higher than Eve Plumb's at this point in time!

  • I heard that this cartoon was a failure from Sherwood Schwartz's point of view. That is why he ALWAYS worked hard on the Gilligan's Island Cartoons.

  • i remember this from my saturday morning childhood back in the 70s. i always loved saturday morning cartoons back in those days

  • I enjoyed this show.

  • @LBF522

I only saw a few episodes in syndication, but I thought that it was pretty decent as cartoons at the time went.

  • @Smartboy8877 It was nice.

  • @LBF522

    I will drink to that!

  • That doesn't sound like Peter singing about Jan.

  • @TomFazioNYC That's because it was Eve Plumb singing about her own character! :>)

  • HELL FUCK NO!!!

  • i love the bradys (:

  • OH! That's where the helicopter bird thing in the psychedelic scene in "A Very Brady Sequel" came from!

  • I had enough Brady in my childhood to last me the rest of my life. Back in the day, I couldn`t wait for the Brady Bunch to be cancelled, then came all these insipid spin-offs. I didn't even wast my time on any of the reunion movies and boycotted both feature films. Bradys DIE!!!!!!!!!

  • @Plumavision I ABSOULTELY love this comment. It's like today's kids with High School Musical or something. I think it's hilarious to finally find someone who hates this! And you have such a strong opinion on it too. Lol...high five :D

  • @Plumavision The Partridge Family never had as much as 1 reunion movie, where it seemed the Brady Bunch had one every 6 months.Only a few short years later,we got stuck with The Brady Bunch Variety Hour.

  • @landrykkb I never cared much for the Partridge Family either, and that goes double for the cartoon version!

  • @Plumavision You should give both feature films a chance--they're both absolutely HILARIOUS! They poke fun at how shallow and unrealistic the show was (and this is coming from someone who NEVER liked The Brady Bunch).

  • why in the blue hell is this not on dvd

  • @jimpsyd ~chalk it up to good taste

  • @jimpsyd hahahaha!!!!!!! So true!

  • @jimpsyd It might have something to do with the appearances of Superman, Wonder Woman and I think The Lone Ranger and their respective copyright holders.

  • Barry Williams (Greg) quit before the series ended

  • "First there's Marcia, with her eyes a-sparklin' blue"

It sounds like even in the cartoon, Greg wanted Marcia!

  • Já me disseram que este desenho nunca existiu!!! Taí a prova!! The Brady Kids!!! Tudo bem que eu era "pitina" quando assistia meu eu tenho uma memória de elefante!!! YES!!!

  • I remember there is a scene in this cartoon where they play musical instruments: Greg is on lead guitar/vocals, Jan is on keys, Peter on bass, Cindy on rhythm guitar, Marcia is singing and playing tambourine, and Bobby is on drums.

  • I do remember this and have several episodes recorded back in the late '90s when TVLand aired this, during the time when it was the REAL TVLand. Now it is drowned in all this reality hoop la.

  • @ScorpioBornIn69:Bullshit-only HALF of the shows on the channel are reality shows, the rest are new sitcoms similar to the old ones that were rerun endlessly.

  • @Neville6000 That is what my point is. At least 50% aired on TvLand are reality based shows while the rest are just endless reruns of Gun Smoke, Banaza and so forth.

  • I may be in the minority here, but as a kid, I've always liked this show MORE than The Brady Bunch.

  • For years I haven't been able to figure out one line of this song:

"We'll meet Mop Top and Ping and Pong the pandas. And Marlon who....."?

    Anyone know the next line?

  • @Aeolis7 I did some research and found the following line.

"And Marlon who has voices by the score".

I'm not sure about the line, but listening to the song over and over again, it does seem to sound correct.

  • @finddavemonty

It is score but how many know that a score is an old fashion way of saying twenty. You think they could've come up with a better rhyme

  • Would anyone happen to have the Season 2 opening?

  • They should put the whole thing on DVD, regardless of whether it's good, bad or indifferent. Same goes for the Jackson 5 cartoon.

  • @MattTheSaiyan - They did release 2 eps as a bonus on the Brady Bunch complete series box set, but yeah, you'd think Paramount would've released the complete series by now!

  • Wow... Groovy I gues

  • I wonder how much effort it took to write that song... sounds like it was written in 5 minutes or less! I think the cartoon was more or less an effort to introduce the Bradys as a singing group, a la the Partridge Family (only the Bradys actually sing). A snippet of the cartoon can be seen in A Very Brady Sequel, one of the funniest moments of the sequel.

  • Far out.

  • Gosh Peter really couldn't sing. I wonder how many takes they did and that was the best they could get?

  • If any of the sitcoms like Full House or Family Matters would have been nice animated cartoons. OMG! An animated Urkel?

  • @TheFrankenstein72 I`m actually surprised neither of those became sitcoms, considering they both appealed to that Saturday morning age demographic in that era.

  • I remember this cartoon, watching this brings back such fun memories, my favorite was the talking magpie, I was living in New Jersey ( Puddingstone ) at the time!

  • When I was a kid, Peter Brady was one of the first guys I ever "liked". Thing is, I was so young I didn't know why I "liked" him, or wanted to be with him. I used to just think about being friends with him and playing together, and for some reason I tried to watch every episode of this show! Children really are innocent!

  • I had no idea there was an animated Brady Bunch.

  • @Stego2001 Around the same time as the TV show itself.

  • I remember an episode of The Brady Kids that had Superman in it.

I hope and pray that someone out there who has this very rare episode would finally bring it to YouTube, being it is "A Lost Episode".

    DANGER WOMAN

  • @DangerWoman35 There's even an episode with Wonder Woman.

  • OMG, it's even worse than I remembered... but not 1/1000th as bad as the Brady Variety Hour (thank heavens).

  • special cartoon

  • Marsha's hair is red

  • Great memories! I'm a big fan of Filmation!

  • only thing left is an animated three's company.

  • @HPlookalike94

How about an animated "Gimme a Break!". I grew up having a huge crush on Julie and would love to see a cartoon version of her!

  • as Marcia would say very dreamy!

  • Moptop was hotdog just different color dog....they used old archie filmnation cuts n stills save money.....just place them in archie bodys doin songs u see

  • @Lehnerd57 Yep, Filmation knew how save a buck. They used the same "rotoscope" movements in their action shows as well. From Star Trek-all the was to He Man and Blackstarr!

  • @RX552VBK

Was there ever a cartoon version of "Star Trek"?

  • @Smartboy8877 Yep. NBC Saturday mornings '73 to '74. It starred the voices of the original cast except Walter Koenig (but he wrote one or two episodes). I loved it when I was 7, but it's really hard to watch now. Filmation was working on limited budget and time. Mistakes can be seen in many episodes.

  • @Smartboy8877 Yes there was. The same year,(72) the same studio (Filmation). It's available on DVD.

  • on a serious subject...I often wonder if voice actors for cartoons For "Any Cartoon" don't feel a bit silly or embarassed saying the lines in a script.. Yes it is a job and they do a great job for cartoons. but I wonder if they don't feel embarassed about it....Same could be said for Dialog in a TV show or movie.

  • ha ha I remember watching this. I was Brady obsessed..lol

  • I had forgotten all about this till now! Thanks for the "Blast from The Past"!

  • Considering how hard it is to get ONE panda from China, and how illegal it would be, one has to wonder just what the Brady kids DID or WHO they did, to get them Pandas? Hmmmm

  • @markxxx21 There was an episode about where they met up with those pandas. I remember it because they sang "Time to Change" in it, without Peter's voice cracking.

  • I remember watching this when i was a kid, but never realized just how bad the opening song is.

  • come on it's the brady bunch theme just with different words LOL

  • "The Youngest One is Bob".....LMAO

  • Did anyone ever call him just "Bob"?

And It should be and Sister Cindy Three?

  • @markxxx21 no cindy too as in also not two

  • @markxxx21 I've heard them just call him bob once or twice but not often. And I agree about the sister cindy three.

  • @Hammotastic

What about that statement is significant to you?

  • did they call Jan groovy cause she was a pot smoking, stoner hippie??? lol....that would have been a cool plot element for the regular series ...jan the drop out

  • I allways thought Marcia was the most beautifull one out of the 3 girls.

  • She sure knew how to fill out a pair of pantyhose, didn't she?

  • Yes, boohaunted - but poor Bobby and Cindy really seem to get short shrift in the lyrics :(

  • i love how the only thing they can think for jan is groovy

  • @boohauntedhouse65 Yeah, and how Greg, being the oldest BOY, is automatically the "leader".

  • @boohauntedhouse65 Peter gets even less than jan

  • "And sister Cindy too!"

  • @boohauntedhouse65 Yeah, but all Cindy gets is "and Cindy too"! ;)

  • @boohauntedhouse65 it's always Marcia, Marcia, Marcia

  • this show was so cool back then. do you have any other episodes downloaded?

  • Maureen McCormick also quit this show. The actors who quit were replaced by Filmation founder Lou Scheimer's son & daughter & the intro changed.

  • Jan is by far the hottest. Cindy is cute. I'd hit Marcia in the head with a frying pan

  • or the nose with a football

  • Precisely, Jan is the super hottie.

  • Maureen McCormick is the best looking one of the whole show! They said Eve Plumb was pretty like a model and Maureen like Miss. America like Miss America but I could imagine Maureen modeling too!

BTW get the great new bio All About Jeffrey Hunter at amazon to read about the popular actor who tried to play Mike Brady!

  • @tracyterry yeah, i never like her much. i wanna fuck Forence Henderson

  • Was it cheaper to turn them into cartoons and ditch the parents?

  • Montop What the Fuck is a montop and the pandas this a weird cartoon

  • "Moptop" was the name of the Dog.....in the cartoon...Why they didn't just name him Tiger like in the TV series is a mystery.

  • i thought it was Mop Top

  • well No pandas were like Hot dog caopy and where was there parents.....hey lets use panda's as ping pong table....and yes Hot dog was moptop look alike....filmation goof

  • The pandas was a little racist.

  • Holy Crap! My childhood or what?

  • "then there's jan, the middle one who's really groovy..."

  • Yeah I dont know if Chris really wanted to say that.... "Here's our sisters, they're all quite pretty" I dont think Mike or Chris wanted ti say that but by this time Barry and Maureen had dated already so I doubt Barry had any problems with it

  • Does anyone have the closing credits? If nothing else, the rotating "Prescott/Scheimer" thing probably gets its best placement there, right at Moptop and Ping and Pong's appearance.

  • Ahh, the memories. Cartoon spinoffs of prime time sitcoms....we'll probably never see stuff like this again.

  • @ebbowman:And thank God for that, because most of these spinoffs were crap (with the exception of Star Trek.)

  • @ebbowman thank god. can you imagine a burn notice or law and order cartoon?

  • @ebbowman Of the TV sitcoms today, what would you see as a cartoon?

  • @TheFrankenstein72 unfortunately, probably none. Especially in this day & age where tv's dominated by reality based shows and not too many quality sitcoms exist anymore

  • @TheFrankenstein72: Burn Notice, Supernatural (about to become an anime show), Buffy The Vampire Slayer (almost a show for Fox Kids) Angel,Stargate, Firefly, The X-Files, Babylon 5, Star Trek TNG, Voyager, DS9, Enterprise, the Transformers movies, Tron Legacy (about to have an animated spinoff) Stargate, Stargate Atlantis, Human Target, Hawaii Five-O...there's a surprising lot that could have animated spinoffs.

  • @ebbowman Multiple factors. Sitcoms often deal with adult situations (by which I mean work, relationship, raising kids) and they don't have any angle to slant for a children's demographic. Secondly, these cartoons were ties ins to network shows. Networks have been wanting to get out of Saturday Morning for years now, as newscasts are more profitable. And lastly, few of them are even that good or add anything to the show to begin with. I'd rather watch original characters in an original show

  • @ebbowman ~it just might. be afraid, VERY afraid!

  • What ever happend to Filmation!

They sure made some good cartoons!

  • They went out of business in '89 and sold the studio to a cosmetic company.

  • ....who were then protested publicly by Sara Gilbert of the ultimate ANTI-Brady Bunch show, Roseanne, and the ultimate anti-Brady Bunch FAMILY, the Connors--for testing on ANIMAL PRODUCTS [the company actually didn't as much as thought..I hate animal testing but the company, who shall go nameless, should be thanked for standing up to an anti-Marcia Brady LOL.]

  • 7DARKHELLS , Filmation ran from 1963 to the late 80's with He-man and She-ra being one of the last cartoon shows they worked on and some TV or theater movie called Happily ever after.

  • I loved this cartoon when I was young. The Brady Bunch is a television icon whether it's episodes of the t.v. show or the animated version. I personally loved both of them.

  • During the song segments, the studio traced over the same limited animation cells used for when the Archies sang. Archie was turned into Greg,Reggie was Peter,Jughead-Bobby,Veronica-Marcia,Betty-Jan,and a tiny little Cindy, playing a tiny little guitar, took the spot in front of the bass drum formerly occupied by Jughead's canine pal,Hot Dog. Kids weren't supposed to notice Filmation's laziness and cheapness, but, boy,we sure did...

  • i loved this cartoon when i was little.

  • I loved this cartoon. Sure, A Very Brady Sequel had it right, it is totally drug induced (the bird can talk and is also a wizard), but that's what made it so awesome!

  • Moptop looks identical to the Archies' Moptop, except the Brady one is mostly brown

  • I wish this would be released on dvd.

  • We all know Chris Knight couldn't sing, So either Eve Plump sang that part or they had him speak it but added sound effects to make it sound like he sang it.

I replayed it several times and it sounds like him.

  • @Astraldragon1 Oddly enough it was Chris Knight and Maureen McCormick who made an album together.

  • lol peters voice is so light but i love him

  • i LOLed at peter's part

  • JUST WHEN IS THIS COMING TO DVD??? I have to admit, I have LONG OUTGROWN the Brady Bunch itself, but this is DEFINITELY one the true gems, when Filmation was at its peak (along with Archies, Sabrina, Groovie Goolies, Fat Albert, and My Favorite Martians). Oh well, c'est la vie, guess some things just aren't meant to be (then again, it's always nice to dream about it)

  • @DoinaSambaFan: This show will never come to DVD, there are too many rights issues related to the show's use of DC Comics characters (owned by Warner Bros.) And to be frank, this show sucked anyway.

  • @Neville6000 Thanks a bunch for the heads-up, even though, for the record, I seriously doubt if it sucked in any way whatsoever. It IS in the exact same vein with all the other Filmation shows from that era (like I had stated in my other post here, Archies, Sabrina, and so on). Anyway, I cannot fathom what's with all the rights issues, given Hanna-Barbera's use of Batman and Robin in 1972's New Scooby-Doo Mysteries (and yes, I know they're both under Time-Warner, but diff. animation studio)

  • I have to agree on all accounts. LOL!!! The youngest one is Bob

  • @Neville6000

What exactly do you feel sucked about this series?

  • @Smartboy8877: The concept sucked big monkey balls because of the limitedness of the animation, the ridiculous storyline and supporting characters (the cartoon bird and dog)-I could go on,but I won't. Also, not having the other members of the family (not having Carol & Mike is pure stupidness.)

  • @Neville6000

Because I have only seen a few episodes of this cartoon and that was when I was only eleven and twelve, I am unable to really agree or disagree with you. However, if I get to get reaquainted with the show in syndication or if I find episodes uploaded onto You Tube or other sites on the Internet, I will get back to you with how I feel.

  • @Neville6000 And Paramount won't allow it to happen either because they own the rights to anything "Brady Bunch" related.

it's a shame media companies have gotten so territorial...

  • I remember this show. I think it is clever how they re-worded the theme song from the original show for the cartoon series. Too bad that this cartoon show is rarely shown.

  • I thought Marcia's eyes were sparkling "green" not blue...hmmm....

  • This video is pretty trippy.

  • Barry Williams and Christopher Knight left for more money.

  • I remember this show from when I was in 2nd grade. But I lost interest in season 2 when they changed actors for some of the kids' voices.

  • I was in second grade then too.

  • I have to laugh at how obviously this isn't "Peter" singing. I know Chris Knight can't sing but man.

  • Thanks for adding! This was a cute show.

  • Paramount would have to have a clearance from D.I.C. enterprises to release it, since they own Filmation. "

    DIC Productions owns Filmation?

  • Actually not true. Lou Scheimer himself had admitted that, in 1986, he sold the company, sight unseen, to L'Oreal Cosmetics. What on Earth would a multi-million dollar cosmetics firm want with a successful animation studio, who knows...

  • " Lou Scheimer .... sold the company, ./., to L'Oreal .,. What on Earth would a multi-million dollar cosmetics firm want with a successful animation studio, who knows... "

And a studio thsat did crappy shows..L'oreal, supposedly tests on animals, Sara Gilbert in 1991 rallied AGAINSTthem.I've even heard-and this may be a connection...-that Filmaiton is Christian...hm.then again how sucessful, if WArners Bros quality , WAS the child orentated Fiklmation hee hee heh

  • Besides, as far as the DIC-Filmation link goes, it just so happens that Robby London, one DIC's top producers/associates, used to write scripts at Filmation. As for who owns Filmation, its holdings (I think) now belong to Entertainment Rights DVD--another Filmation mystery :-/

  • @DoinaSambaFan: It WAS owned by Entertainment Rights LLC; now it's owned by Classic Media (also the owners of half of the Rankin Bass library.)

  • That was pretty cool. I used 2 watch the brady bunch all the time when I was little. Now,I watch it very rarely. I love a very brady sequel.

  • Best line from "A Very Brady Sequel" ..."Oh, no...I'm tripping with the Bradys!"

  • Wow, Groovy. :-)

  • lol, jans rele grooovy? haha this is not my timee. born in the 90s baby. still young

  • Why won't this come out on DVD? I wish it would

  • Paramount would have to have a clearance from D.I.C. enterprises to release it, since they own Filmation. Believe it or not, few animated clips from this cartoon were used in the second Brady Bunch movie.

  • @Rlotpir1972

Today, D.I.C. is now under Cookie Jar Entertainment. The name change occurred in July 2008.

  • The first two episodes are included on the Brady Bunch Complete Series DVD.

  • I loved this show when I was a kid. I had the lunchbox.

  • Crap, I actually saw this! Thanks for bringing back the memories.

  • This should be put back on the air or either add these episode to Youtube.

  • They never did explain why they no longer had parents.

  • They did have parents, and were seen (or heard from) at least once since I clearly remember it. But I think after the first episode the kids were lost in some time machine or something and that's why the parents weren't shown.

  • finally found the intro to this cartoon based off the Brady Bunch. too forever lol.

  • Wow, I had no idea there was a Brady Bunch cartoon with a flying wizard bird. Weird...

  • You had to be there I guess.

  • am i on an acid trip wheres alice

  • Jan got hot in cartoon form.

  • Those are some pretty weak compliments they're making.

    Also, pseudo-incest.

  • i wonder how many of you remember the wonder woman episode? i believe they get sent back in tim to rome and have to compete in the olympics

  • It's great seeing this again after 35 years - now if someone could put up the music videos The Brady Kids did in the cartoon show. That would be excellent!

  • If this ever came out on DVD, I'd snatch it up in a heartbeat.
