Hello, I'm afraid I don't entirely understand you.
If you're referring to the MiniKP/Kaossilator itself, the Line IN does not support 3.5mm jack input. Both line IN and OUT only support RCA (ie Red&White) cables.
@lcc0612 Yeah, the Mini KP. I have one 3.5mm Jack to 2x RCA Phono Ausio Cable Gold 1m lead... which lead specifications do I need, and where do you plug them in on the KP, Line In being plugged to ipod and Line Out plugged to Laptop?! Sorry, I'm new to this :S
For the input, you'll need a 3.5mm to RCA, like you have. The 3.5mm end goes to your iPod and the RCA goes to line in on your MiniKP.
You'll need another set of cables for output. Either RCA to 3.5mm OR 3.5mm to 3.5mm is fine. If you have RCA to 3.5, connect the Line Out of the miniKP to the Line In of your laptop. If you have a 3.5mm to 3.5mm, connect from earphones on your MiniKP to the Line In on your laptop.
@lcc0612 Okay, so basically all I need is another one of these cables and plug it into the laptop hedphone socket? Sweeet, thanks so much! (I hope the Line In function on a laptop is the earphone slot...)
No! The earphone jack on your laptop is essentially a Line Out. You want to to look for a Line In (normally color coded light blue) jack which is used for recording purposes.
If you can't find such a jack, you can try the mic (pink) jack. At worst, some drivers may allow you to remap your earphones jack as a line in jack, but use that as a last resort.
There is, of course no fixed way to set it up. The kaossilator itself outputs to RCA as well as 3.5mm (the latter being better suited for personal listening) - What this means is that you're likely to want RCA inputs on whatever you want to hook the Kaossilator up to.
If the kaossilator is your only "instrument" then I don't suppose you really need a mixer, but if you're using multiple devices, then a mixer is advisable.
The only cable that'll work is RCA to 3.5mm, and that's not really easy to find around the house (I'm considering equipment that can usually be found, but I don't think any of them will use such a cable).
And I'm afraid I can't really answer your question since I'm in Singapore, and I found my cables at hardware stores. Though I don't think the same will apply for you.
I heard some saying Wal-mart has everything. Wanna give that a try? xD
i have one more questions, i got my mini KP but i dont have the right wires and am going to buy them soon, but if i did get my RCA to 3.5mm do i plug the 3.5mm section into the headphones section of my laptop? cos there doesnt seem to be anywhere else to plug em in
I only have a 35 mm cable that plugs into the Line In sockets, but what cable do I need to plug into the Line Out sockets??

@lcc0612 Okay well I have a microphone slot on my laptop (it's a Dell D630) so would you recommend I get an RCA to 3.5mm or a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable?
georgithinks 7 months ago
@georgithinks
Both cables are fine.
To be more "proper" (and not have to deal with two volume controls), get a RCA to 3.5mm
If you ever wanna work with more devices though, a 3.5mm to 3.5mm will come in handy for many situations.
So yea, it's your choice.

do any cables come with the Kaossilator?
ROCKERGAMER987 8 months ago
@ROCKERGAMER987
I'm afarid not - No cables come with the kaossilator at all.
lcc0612 8 months ago
@lcc0612 do u know what the real name of the red and white cables are?
ROCKERGAMER987 8 months ago
@ROCKERGAMER987
If it's just red and white on both ends, they're called "RCA Cables".
If it's an earphones jack on one of the ends, then it's an "RCA to 3.5mm Cable".

how could you set up the kaossilator for a live performance? do i need to use an amp or i need rca cables to mixer then output to monitors?

I use RCA to stereo jack cable and plug it into a mixer.

@TannenbaumTV
That's fine too! Only that mixers are more likely to accept RCA cables, so I put more emphasis on that.

Are There any cables around an average house that could hook a mp3 to a mini kp. if not where are you most likely to find rca to 3.5 mm cables?
