  • my friends all think im crazy about my knife collection. they dont like knives like me most dont even own a knife but are always asking me yo you got a knife on you answer is i got almost always two and then i laugh at them

  • Im wanting another one of these. Where's the best place to get one?

  • @Krigloch - Probably Amazon; I've seen that they generally have low prices on Cold Steel stuff and most knives in general, along with their free shipping for 5-8 days. I could be wrong, though, as I don't follow too many knife vendors.

  • 120000th viewer sweet but hey love your bids been watching them from the near beginning

  • I enjoy my AK but I do not enjoy the lack of thumb stud. I don't like that thumb plate on top of the blade, it sucks.

In general I find it tough to quickly take this knife out of my pocket. When I carry this knife it goes right in my pocket. I do not use the pocket clip. It is too tight! Other than these 2 issues I really like it.

  • 9:25 BAM! Love it.

  • i dont think you could use the pommel as a striking device... seems like your just asking to stab yourself.

  • will my dick get biger if ill have this knife?

  • @MajorDrinkins Anything is possible.

  • RON PAUL 2012!!!!!!!!!! Join the REVOLUTION or get out of our way

  • @steffen3443 REVOLUTION is not a good way to put it.

  • "Great job on the clip"? What about the pocket rest of the pocket clip? You can't tell me that's better than the mini lawman....

  • i've had my ak47, full size, since last christmas. it has taken its fare share of beatings. the finish on the blade and pocket clip has worn a little, but i think that actually makes it look pretty cool. i've womped on this knife pretty hard and still no movement in the lockup at all. this is my favorite folding knife i own.

  • So, would you say that the Large AK is a great self-defense weapon?

  • @lxXMETALXxl Great? no, but it is a good folding tactical knife.

  • 14:55 I Thumped It Hard Baby!!! Lol!!!

  • "and its gonna look bushleague!" Beautiful reference.

  • I have the older style with the aluminum handles....i love it,,,carry it and use it at work everyday,,,no worries,

  • hahaha dude your fucking funny, that thigh thing wrapped it up for me that was hilarious "BAAAMMMM, dudes going down" LO<LOLOFLADSOFLOL

  • i got the cold steel mini ak47 about a week ago. it kicks major fucking ass. i love the wave thing, its razor sharp, and the clip is very sturdy. absolutely no blade play too. worth every fucking penny i swear

  • I finally got one! The full size one! It freaking ROCKS! :D

  • Question about steel... How does the AUS-8 steel compare to spyderco VG-10 steel? Is AUS-8 worth the price when you can get a VG-10 steel for the same price?

  • nutn what do you prefer the cold steel ak-47 or the cold steel spartan ?

  • u know what i wana see??, they rolled out a mini american lawman and ak-47, sooo cold steel get it together and use those smart minds of yours and make a mini recon 1 ! u can call it the recon 0.5!

  • Your killing me. I am looking for a good folding knife. I watched the Rajah iii video. led me to Spartan video, led me this AK47 video and you talk about the Recon knife. What started as a simple project has turned into long in depth research. Which one to purchase.?

  • @frankgon4 What are you wanting to do with it? EDC, folding tactical?

  • @Kylef7735 Everyday carry.

  • @frankgon4 The full size AK isnt really that huge for EDC, but the mini AK is the best of those you mentioned,

  • not a fan, its like a down graded Spartan imo

pommle strikes will get you killed in a defencive encounter

  • @HunterKiller308 Not really, not if you are using a less lethal strike on someone not armed lethally...

  • @Kylef7735 sorry thats just stupid, just because you dont see someones weapon dosent mean they are not armed lethaly, even a bare handed man can kill you. if you pull a blade on someone you better be fully prepared to stab the shit out of them, never pull a knife as a threat, thats a good way to get it taken from you and shoved up your ass

    just sayin...

  • @HunterKiller308 Mmhmm ok, whatever you say buddy.

  • @Kylef7735 tell me what i said that was so wrong, please try to teach me somthing. if you really wanted to subdue someone with a kinf without injury just put it the teir throat and cut them just a little bit to let them know your fucking serious. IF YOU PULL A KNIFE ON SOMEONE IT BETTER BE OVER SOME SERIOUS SHIT

  • @HunterKiller308 hes not talking about pulling the knife to cut, hes talking about using it as a less lethal tool. Do you believe tasers, peppers spray, kubatons, expandable batons and other less lethal items are "Just stupid" as well? Just cause you have the option to use more serious force does not mean it is mandatory, you should always use the least amount of force necessary to accomplish the task, and personally whacking a hostile in the temple with the pommel is better than a throat slice.

  • I have an ak and it is awsome! love the wave feature, and it has taken some abuse! I did the jb weld/paint mod under the clip too.

  • That G-10 handle can stand all the torsion and prying any normal man will ever be able to dish out using his hands like he's supposed to. Heavy steel liners are so unnecessary with the new materials we have at our disposal today.

  • I swear, Nutnfancy, you're next video needs to be a list of reasons why we "NEED" to constantly buy new knives. That way we can be ready for the inevitable questioning of the spouses. I'm running out of excuses. The next one I use when I pick up the Mini AK is going to be "Nutnfancy made me do it"

Great review, sir. The mini will soon replace my Recon 1(Love it, just a little hard to justify as an EDC due to it's size)

  • @MrBigBadGhost haha this is poss. my favorite coment

  • I bought this per your review and am very impressed. I got the full version and I love it. Especially @ $65. I have to admit I was expecting something heavier based on your review, not sure why as you did say it was lighter than the previous model. to be honest if it was any lighter I might not want it at all. My only gripes are the pocket clip, it's like having a pit-bull chewing on your pocket fabric, and the way it rides high out of pocket. Other than that I'm highly satisfied. Thanks.

  • "stabbing concrete walls" hahahahahaha oh nutn, you crack me up.

  • CS AK-47 or Ontario RAT - 1?

  • @Runescort ak-47 ftw

  • @nutnfancy could you do a review of the Eickhorn km2000 bw or an other model of the eickhorn km series

  • WHAT KIND OF WATCH IS THAT @ 12:25?

  • Ahh.. wish it was the Russian version of the AK-47, haha.

  • What's up nut I just wanted to know, in your opinion, which knife do you prefer? The AK47 or the Spartan? I'm torn between these 2 knives. Great vids btw keep at it, and thanks.

  • This is true. When backpacking weight does matter. If any of you ignorant people out there disagree you can go try it.

  • I like the new AK-47 knives !

  • Hah smack in the thigh?

it will be a smack in the kisser or ballsack at the very minimum for Mr Bad guy followed by a nasty rapid beatdown, for safety reasons ;) .

  • Nutn, would that spring unseating cause an inadvertent closing of the blade while in-hand while being used - like in a thrust?

  • O.o I love to takl about any type of arms, guns or knives, for hours ...that means that am I a sick wapons lover ... Well... I guess ...That is ... SO FREAKING COOL!!!!! jajajaja

  • Why did they take away the aluminum handle option. For an edc utility knife which the mini ak really is that is necessary

  • My opinion after having now carried the full-size version for a few months:

It is ultra-light for its size. I forget I'm carrying it. My job prohibits employees carrying firearms, but this knife is a good substitute. It was razor sharp out of the box and tough. It has been used on sheetrock (though not recommended) and on precision paper detail work alike. No lockup wiggle or other issues after thousands of deployments. Paint on the pocket clip has worn off a bit, but this can be remedied.

  • what is this kind of knife called,a switchblade?

  • @hulk239239 One that opens via a spring by a button or lever not directly attached to the blade.

  • @hulk239239 no, it's not a switchblade. It's a lock-back knife. Switchblades are automatic while lock-backs are opened manually

  • vg 10 vs aus 8a

  • yea thanks nutnfancy i'm going to saving up for the cold steel AK-47

  • Can you test the axis lock?

  • Just buckled down and purchased the mini, my mom is going to kill me. But this is the 1st knife I bought using my hard earned money. Hopefully my mom doesnt kill me

  • @KalConduitman you dont really need to tell her, but if you do the mini is a great first knife to show

  • @CrotalusKid1 oh its not my 1st knife, This would be my 23rd. But this is my 1st knife Im getting by actually having a job

  • @KalConduitman ok, the way it was phrased it sounded like your mom didnt want you to have knives

  • second gen ak-47 not as good as first gen...

  • @2150neo Are you kidding me lol. The new one is basically a stronger, tougher and lighter version of the old kind.

  • Just out of curiosity, but why would an American company like Cold Steel name one of their products after a weapon that is used mostly by enemy countries of the United States? For commercial reasons? I'm just curious. Not judging Cold Steel or anybody who owns this knife.

  • @shysterlicious Sales.

    It's licensed by Kalashnikov IIRC.

  • @shysterlicious Millions of US citizens own AK 47 types rifles, lots of countries that are allied with the USA use this weapon in their armed forces.

It's not just a "bad guy weapon" only, and it's just a tool anyway it's used by both good and bad guys all over the world because it's a great tool.

  • @JoeDurobot You're right. Many countries friendly to the United States use the AK 47. I just now looked it up on Wikipedia. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with me. All the best to you.

  • I can't find it for less that $59.99 anybody have any ideas?

  • TO ANY TNP-ERS CONCRENED ABOUT THE TRI-AD LOCK SPRING, i was slightly concenered when nutnfancy said that there had been reports of the lock spring breaking so i sent cold steel an email asking them about that and they said that of the several thousand knives they sell with the triad lock less than ten have been returned with the broken spring. they said about 1 in 1000 chance or 0.1% or less of that problem occuring.... Just an fyi to you all, please let me know if this comment helped you

  • Nutnfancy, ive been searching through your knife reviews looking for "the knife to carry" and i couldnt find one. What do you recomend as the all around best knife, being a folder?

  • I watched this a long time ago and put it on my list of knives to get. it will be here in a day or two. thanks for another great review!

  • Thanks Nutn for turn me on to this knife. Got the new G-10 version. Its my EDC. Great review as always.

  • their*

  • cold steel is a pretty awesome company, i think i'll get one of there swords to hack zombies lol. swords don't run out of ammo.

  • Nutnfancy/other tnp-ers please please respond to the following, i just got a mini ak47 and after flicking it for a while it makes a clicking sound when i shake it, its not the blade but it apears to be the pin on the inside of the handle near the tang of the knife that is visable when the knife is open 19:32 you can see it on the left... is this a problem

    thanks

  • @shadowstormreviews

have you contacted cold steel? if you send their customer service an email i'm sure they'll get back to you asap.

  • @onethirstydog thanks for responding but i was on some knife threads on the internet and watched a couple of videos and the clicking sound is benine, its just a little bit of space between a pin and the G10 , its on alot of knives with G10 handles and the triad lock and it wont effect the knife in the slighteset.

  • I think wooden scales on this would be sick.

  • Wife blessed me today (my birthday) with a new CS AK-47 that she stole on Amazon. Have watched this review and countless others, but until it is in your hand, you just can't appreciate the stoutness of this blade. Everything Nutn said is true and it certinaly compliments my EDC Drifter. Now for the Premonition to fill the gap between the two.

  • so why would i buy this, or would a recon 1 be better?

  • @lickoflamb I originally was going to get the Recon 1 because I thought I'd hate the thumbplate. Let me tell you, I couldn't be happier. It's my first wavable knife, and its completely addicting. If you can, definitely get the full size AK-47.

  • OK. plz respond, do you prefer the recon one or the ak for a tactical POU? i am thinking recon 1 but i do highly value your input as u have more exp than me.

  • @kylef7735. Some EDC but overall just a nice blade that can handle anything I throw it. I like the black blade of the AK and the grip of the G-10 handle, as for the Rajah 3 not sure about the handle, and some people say the blade of the rajah 3 shows rust spots.... Any help is much appreciated.

  • I am stuck between the full size AK-47 and the Rajah III. Anybody got any opinions?

  • @Just23insa What do you want to do with it?

  • @Just23insa Full size AK-47 no doubt. Personally I hate how the Rajah looks

  • Something that just came to mind, the grip helps teach new users to cut away from there self just by the design of the handle.

  • LOVE MY AK-47 !!!

  • What would you guys recommend for me as a folding tactical knife, the Cold Steel AK-47 (new version), the SOG flash 2 plain edge, or the SOG Trident plain edge?

  • @dirkydirky757576 AK-47 has the skull crusher and you can wave it out of your pocket.

  • @dirkydirky75757 i will go to trident for folding tactical but if u can open fast ak-47 go with it.

  • Just got me a mini AK-47, ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!!

  • PTW, Thank you vary much Nutnfancy for the free shipping code.

  • Just ordered myself one today from cutlery shoppe, half the price are local retailers sell it for. Lol!

  • Hey guys buy it from cutleryshoppe it's cheaper than amazon and you get free shipping during April '11 with coupon code "nutnfancy". Nutnfancy mentioned the deal in his recent American Lawman review.

My AK-47 just arrived from them, shipped fast. $64.80 :)

  • What should I look into buying for an all around knife. eg out bush and on the streets. price is a little bit of an issue.

  • when you forget its in your pocket you should take another knife else whats the use. LOL

  • You said you got the big AK for for 65?

Where did you get it? I'm looking at the Cold Steel site and it's 119.99. :/

  • @SushiMaster82 Check Amazon, it's like 67

  • @chinesewolfofmibu

How come on the CS site it's so much more expensive?

Would I be losing anything if I got it on amazon like... free maintenance repair or something?

  • @SushiMaster82 Never ever ever buy ANYTHING direct from the manufacturer, they price it that high so it doesnt make their dealers lose money.

  • @SushiMaster82 dude check it out on ebay its around 60 from the user Unitedoutdoors

  • "Stabbing concrete walls" LOL

  • cold steel recon 1 or cold steel ak 47 both seem great but is one better than the other because I'm looking for that pocket knife I can abuse (not like a fixed blade) and it seems that the recon 1 or the ak 47

  • @musicfreak8580

I agree - not sure which one to choose but i do want one of them !

Recon 1 has a 4" blade and standard AK47 has 3½" blade (mini is 2¾" blade)

Would appreciate some feedback from owners of both - I'm sure ultimately, its just down to personal taste

  • @smidsyonfire they both seem like they can do the job very well and I figured its time to stop being a cheap ass about it and just spend the extra money for something that is truely awesome. kinda like this is one of the last knives you'll buy (that is until they top this knife with some other better design lol)

  • @musicfreak8580

Yeah you're right there. I'd rather spend that sort of money on a knife that's going to last the distance and these look like they'll do just the job. Not even sure which of the AK's I'd have.. the standard is still a big knife with a slightly thicker blade (0.5mm extra) than the mini

  • @smidsyonfire your have read my mind I order the lager ak47 last night, beleive me I sat at my computer for about an hour later and after much concideration for the pou I'm using it for I'll be usinig it as a utility knife in construction enviorments which most knives I've used dont last all to long mainly because I was using cheapo knives but after going through knife after knife it's like that 10-20$ each time adds up after watchin the nutnfancy review Im confident I made a good purchase.

  • Nutnfancy for president.

  • Oh well the lock on that this is still good doesn't seem to be letting up any time soon.

  • Damn the last time I checked out this video they were 54 bucks

WTF now there 100+ BULL SHIT

I wan't this knife for the name AK-47 but come on!

My 7 dollar folder from walmart will do everything this shit will.

PS I have had it for over a year and no blade wiggle.

  • @YeahButNoSoYeahNo go on amazon they are around $65. $7 walmart knife? try seeing how much weight you can hang on the handle be fore it fails. probably nothing over 100 lbs. looks at the cold steel video demo and see how much weight the lock can support.

  • @topguntin

Why would I want my knife to hold 100lbs?

  • @YeahButNoSoYeahNo it shows how strong the lock is

  • Do you think the large ak could do some lightweight camping duty, i.e. wood splitting, like the recon 1, seeing as how it has a more delicate tip?

  • Which knife do you think I should carry, The mini ak, the big ak, or the recon 1 (not tanto), im thinking of buying one of these knives, but i dont know which one, ill use it for like cutting rope, opening boxes, partially self defense, really anything, and ill be carrying a cadet too, which one do you think i should buy? please answer nutn. :D

  • @FbTips im not nutn but id say carry a large ak-47 if your carrying a cadet

  • Nutnfancy, no jimping!?!? :))))) ;)

  • SOG Aegis or this?

  • this knife looks so sexy, i'm buying this for now. gonna buy the recon tanto as well. ;)

  • BAM!! DUDE'S GOING DOWN!!

  • ha ha ha ha yeah right i wish i had freinds that asked me if i had my cool knifes on me i wish i had freinds that were in to knifes and tac gear like we are... So i just bore them when i get a new one :)

  • doggie with packs on so cute lol

  • where can i find a cement stabbing blade

  • @torgy use a blade made of diamond, it'll never break. i dont know where you can find something like that

  • @wth357 Diamond Blades will break easily, might not dull but it will chip and snap, its way to brittle.

  • lol gotta love stabbing concrete walls

  • I just got an old version (NIB) in the px in camp beuring Kuwait for $37. I wanted a new version but at that price I couldnt leave it.

  • Keep watching and rewatching your reviews, really made me realize how light the/my Spyderco Military is for such a big folder.

  • I have to say I love the metal pommel...it looks like it could take some pounding (even on the mini) if you needed a hammer and didn't have one. That's one EDC function even a leatherman doesn't have....

  • you are teh shiznit.. you know what you are talking about.. I hate that I can't get these in my country .. stupid law about the deployment mechanism being one handed :(

  • I'd just like to comment on folding blade strength: I've got a Black Rock Hunter by Cold Steel that went through much of what you put the Recon 1 through without any problems. You might want to look at doing a review for that knife: it's a very strong design, if a little unorthodox.

  • Thanks nutn , ordered one today can't wait to fondle it:)

  • just a question, i live in sydney, australia, and i saw a guy at the establshment 'paddys markets' its essentially a big flea market where all kinds of things are sold from toys too cutlery to fruit n veg to jewellery etc.

and this guy was, im PRETTY sure selling me the full zed AK for AU$19.95, although on thurs day im gonna go back and check him again (tues today)

jusdging by the price id be right in thinking that this guys selling me a fake. he mentioned i think it was from taiwan too

  • @elgostine For that much price, its fake.

  • @Kylef7735 knew it, sides the guy ran out of it anyways, and i thin the knfe had a sort of nub on the side of the blade.

  • @elgostine Even if he had found some secret stash of old Ak-47 knives, that would still be a fishy price.

  • I can't watch you anymore, I am now buying a Recon...Thanks, like I don't have enough blades...........

  • LOL I watched this vid again for a 2nd time because im thinking of buying one. I had to laugh when he said if your stabbing concrete walls lol

  • @BENLINUZ after i saw this vid i bought the AK and i'm in love whit it.

  • Nutnfancy why 9/10 not 10/10 likeability???

  • i bought the rtak 2 and the ak47 cause of your reviews thanks for the videos

  • I just picked up the CS AK47 mini for an EDC. What a great blade. I can see why the G10 handle mod is necessary. Wow the handle is aggressive but I like it. I'm small in stature so this fits my hands well. Wicked fast deployment. Thanks for the great recommendation nutn.

  • Nutnfancy, I am a patrol officer who heavily uses my folders on a regular basis. I cannot decide what knife would be better for me. Which would you suggest the most?

The Recon 1 (Tanto or Clip, please specify which would be better), Or the full sized AK-47?

Weight really isn't an issue for me, but having a strong knife that can take extreme daily abuse is. Thank you

    -Robert

  • @HaloCrysis In my opinion, they're both great, but the Ak offers the draw clip. so thats a bonus

  • @wingzero7X The AK has the glass breaker and a very secure grip, which I really like, but the Recon 1 has a four inch blade. I'm a big fan of larger blades (if everything goes south, a bigger blade would help me in a self defense situation). I use my knife primarily for prying and cutting, so I need a blade that has a strong tip, and cuts smoothly.

  • @HaloCrysis Agreed, in that I agree, because I decided to buy the Rajah II. BEST FUCKING KNIFE, I could afford, I"VE EVER HAD!!!

  • @HaloCrysis hey friend, if you dont mind, i have an answer.. i am a former police officer (ohio) now retired in hawaii...

i have several cold steel knives.. i would go with the recon 1.. it has a slimmer handle (but still full size length).. it's lighter...and it has a longer blade, AK-47 is 3.5" recon 1 is 3.75".. the navy seal's use the recon 1 tanto blade i have 2 cold steel voyager (tanto, and clip blades),, c.s american lawman,, c.s reon 1,, c.s ak-47..

i also like the sog aegis...

  • @sonnydukes Thank you for your reply, Sonny. Now that I think of it, I probably wouldn't use the AK's glass breaker anyway and if I needed to, I'll have my baton. Would you recommend the tanto, or clip point blade? I cannot find a local dealer in Austin and I do not know anyone who owns either knife so I can't see the two in person, but would like to know which one is better in your opinion. I hear that tanto blades have much stronger tips than other blades, but I've personally never owned one.

  • Hey, NutnFancy. I want to personally thank you for TNP, I've watched almost every video you have about knives before I decided to buy one for carrying with me all the time, and another for woodscraft.... I bought a Cold Steel AK-47 3 months ago and I absolutely LOVED IT! I carry it with me all the time and it's always ready to deploy in an instant. I also bought a KA-BAR heavy bowie for woodscraft, and it works great.

  • Someone needs to make the "nutnfancy Edition" Knife. These are the specs. 4.2 Oz Duracoated out of the box ;-) Triad Lock Razor Sharp out of the box JIMPING Drop Point Ergonomic Handle w/ impact end Comes with Optional Skateboard tape (black) & Lanyard (550 Para Cord) Deep pocket clip Price: $75 ($2 of every sale should go to the TNP) 4 Color Options Aus 8 steel ? maybe? *not sure* 3 1/2 inch blade and did I forget to mention 4oz with Jimping? * Make it Happen Cold Steel ! *
  • Fancy when are you gonna have your own tv show? Fitzen needs a show too!

  • hey .. can u use the larger ak 47 knife for an edc blade? practicality?

  • @9180nathan1 You can use any blade for anything, nutnfancy probably wouldnt, i prolly wouldnt, but you sure can.

  • @akman545 true but lets just both agree that they are both awesome knives

  • @akman545 well then lets go with the AKS-74U is that short enough? lol

  • I did it again...... I watched another Nutnfancy video and bought another item. LOL

I'm a new owner of the New Style Cold Steel AK-47. Great Review, Thank you Nutn.

  • and i found it at bass pro for twenty less than thier website price

  • love my mini ak

  • 66,666th viewer :)

  • @akman545 or the ak-74

  • I have to say from personal experiernce I do think that the CRKT Carson M21-04 that failed on Nutn was a result of not applying loc-tite to the pivot; as mentioned in the video he posted.

I own the M21-04 and have for a couple years now. I have used it as an EDC & a bush knife regularly. I have abused mine notably without duplicating the failure Nutn had; as he says your mileage my vary.

  • My recon 1 is my baby, got the clip plain edge, such a great knife

  • @akman545 They should have, lol
