  • He was taught by Itzhak Perlmann...I think his technique reflects that.

  • @reathyork I know right? I thought he was speaking English with an incredibly strong accent.

  • talented!!!!

  • ooh my goodness. wont everyone stop about the grind of his bow and his clothes? he inspires young people who never were interested in classical like me. now its all i seem to listen to! he broke the speed record, he plays sooo beautiful, and i dont think any of you were traveling arounf the world at 12 playing with a top violinist. hes incredible. if you guys dont think so, dont comment..

  • Oh I love his face when He's playing is like an Angel! ♥

  • What do u mean he a little scratchy my ass he plays damn well better than u

  • what a beautiful world...

  • OMG! poor Dvorak!

  • Ok,wat r all these comments about like "he's sooo hot!" I mean no offense he kinda looks don't u think kind of old but I guess he plays ok

  • Very Nice ! :)

  • I dont know why, Garrett just doesnt fit to my ear. Anyway, check out Pavel Sporcl if you fancy violinists, he is truly amazing. Maybe I like him just cuz he is my countryman... :) I think Garrett is too much hasty, Sporcl's style is more calm, clear, slick. Btw. I really love that part 2:01, every time I play it on piano I enjoy it so much.

  • @dejffjed I think it's because he plays it a little rough, it sounds a little bit scratchy don't you think? Compared to Itzhak Perlman.

  • whooow. super mooi - respect

  • Half of it sounds like viva la vita

  • Oh, btw Yo Yo Ma plays cello. *giggles*

  • This is wonderful. *Likes* Love it! Amazing. :)

  • David Garrett stinks at this. His bow grinds against the poor instrument, and it is nothing compared to the Humouresque by Yo Yo Ma and Itzhak Perlman. *shudder*

  • This is so disgustingly unmusical it makes my ears bleed. His bow grinds against the violin....his phrasing is so broken that there is no sense of where the melodic line is going....and the excessive sliding and vibrato doesn't make his intonation any better.

And yes I'm finished raging at this not-musician.

  • David Garrett is untalented clown he is only good in bastardizing classical.

  • He is awesome... 2:13 gives me goosebumps *_*

  • cool!

  • What the hell is he wearing? Has he no sense of professionalism?

  • @VeryColdfusion - He's a pirate.

  • @VeryColdfusion

Why do you care about something irrelevant like that? Just listen with your eyes closed :)

(btw he really ís a pirate)

  • He said David Garrett and he had an accent. He's from Germany. That's why he speaks that language. o.o

  • Kurt Cobain 2

  • Who made him play it in this strange rhytm? As a Czech I don't like it at all, the whole arrangement sounds weird, more like some reality show commercial or what...

  • I'm sure the guy is talented and all, and it's not terrible, I guess, but this might as well be complete and utter drivel compared to the performance by Perlman and Yo-Yo Ma (which you can find on the right).

  • i like perlman/yoyoma's version better. david is good though

  • Dvorak would get headaches if they heard this...

  • its weird how i dont speak German but somehow i could understand almost everything the announcer was saying

  • @reathyork

it's because many german words are very similar to the english ones. He says for example:" In der Kategorie Instrumentalisten". In english:" In the category instrumentalists". You see it's almost equal. But it's not always this easy ;)

  • @reathyork No, no one does, not even the germans

  • @reathyork he says for musical wishes is he the our absolutly favorit

in the categori instrumentalist ( sorry im not so good in englisch)

he is the man with the violin david gerret

  • he is sooo awesome!

  • I have to play this song for my solo against a judge and I never liked it but now I do thanks to David Garrett :)

  • I actually like the other version better... Probably because it has a cello in it. And I don't like how he represents himself. I would explain but the space in the comments is not enough.

  • I love the way he expresses his feelings on the violin

  • Im proud that he is german too^^

  • So beautiful number

  • saw him in concert 2 times.... best 2 days of my life

  • DAVID KURVETA HAHAHAAHHAHAH HE IS GAY!!!!!

  • So sweet !

  • He's the epitome of a violinist.

  • It's different from the sharp, shorter, style played by Perlman; however, it has that flow that you rarely find. You kind of can feel how he's feeling too, you know? Both, regardless, are amazing musicians and this performance here is, as expected, spectacular.

  • freedom from narrowness or restraint,

  • feels transported by each note... transcends... soothingly...breadth...

  • very old song. glad he's introducing it to a broader public!

  • I am happy that someone like you David persuaded your dreams ;) cheers

  • good job.

  • absolut wunderschön!

wie er seine geige streichelt .. perfekt.

    einfach top!

  • I love his expressions and passion when he's playing. It's so amazing.

  • uhhhhh fu da waaaaaaa?

  • He is a profi and this is a masterpiece of Antonín Dvořák from Czech republic. Very nice.

  • Talented and sexy....this guy has it all. And I love that I can see him totally into the music and his instrument. wow.

  • I have played this song before on the violin.

But no one can play it like him. Simply amazing.

    <3

  • He totally just took the piece and made it 20% cooler.

  • Also, this song is one of my favorite pieces of classical music. And this is an amazing rendition.

  • Rofl. As an American, I can acknowledge my ignorance when it comes to other languages. But I love how he's speaking (german?), and then he says "David Garrett," and it sounds like a joke, because all of the sudden, he sounds like some random dude from America.

  • @MikeJScinto

If he's American, and he's saying and English name, he's not going to pronounce it with a German accent, because he's not German, hahaha.

  • Heißt es jetzt Geige oder Violine?

  • @HeMbo99 man kann beides sagen, es bezeichnet dasselbe :)

  • David garrett ist ein Künstler, er ist einfach wunderbar! ♥

  • Another WOW , everything he does is exceptional. He changed my oppinion on classical music. Such talent! So moving! Thank you Youtube for making it possible to see this anytime I want.

  • Yes he's a good looking dude, but the timing of the piece makes it dull and pedestrian.

  • I love the part when the piece modulated! <3

  • best music ever!!!

  • 42 dislikes are people that think farting is playing a musical instrument.

  • I just fell in love with the violin all over again. And I haven't played for 8 or 9 years.

  • este david es duro en la musica pulgar arriba

  • He's hot

  • Jeans but no classical qualities at all.

  • i think i love this guy now as much as i love my violin

  • That opening speech... sounded like English

  • @Ma5terM

For me, it was the most clear german I have ever heard.

  • MY DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO ALL THAT CLICKED 'DISLIKE' I AM TRULY SAD FOR YOU!

  • Lyrics: "In the evening after dark,

We'll goose the statues in the park,

If Sherman's horse can take it so can you.

Passengers will please refrain from flushing toilets while the train is in the station,

    Darling I love you."

  • Lovely playing.TY S for posting.

  • He jazzed it up! And it's more beautiful when he plays it than the original! The Viva La Vida theme is playing in the background around 2:12 as part of David's arrangement! He plays with a lot of feeling!!! You can see his face and the violin going diminuendo and ascending with the right rhythm.

  • O__o that was awesome

  • Not only the song is beautiful... if you know what I mean

  • Beautiful Stradivarius! Love how you do the vibrato! My brother fell in love with this song when he heard it! Love the 2:00 part so romantic and just takes my breath away!

  • waoo amo esto de verdad

  • 31 people have a serious problem

  • ii like! (:

  • Davids vibrato is amazing! Wish I could play Humoresque that well!

  • is that a stradavarius violin? because the tone of it seperates them them from the rest of the violins out their

  • @luisramos19 His violin is louder also because of the mic at the bridge, not just the brand I think

  • @musicheersme omg i never noticed the mic o_O LOL

  • what a twist on the piece

  • how he pronounces David Garret so american :) I am amazed by his talent in playing the violin!

  • 味がありすばらしい。クライスラーに通ずる。

  • did he upgrade this song sounds abit diff SUPER NICE!!

  • Wow.... 0_0

I'm trying to learn the Humoresque in my Suzuki vol. 3.

    That's nothing compared to this!

  • This version is NOT better than the original version, definitely. The main part is awful, the rhytm is totally wrong. If you wanna understand to Mr. Dvorak's music, listen to the original version...

  • @MrFerenc8

    Hater :(

  • i always start smiling like an idiot at 2:00 cuz i seriously love that part >w<

  • @hohumtadee Me too. It's my favourite part of the whole song.

  • What hit his face at 1:45?

  • @tumblesplash It could be a string, or his hair simply :)

  • Bravo

  • I used to hate this song until i heard this version ..that was sick!

  • awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is by far overdone. The arangement is not really working. I definitely prefer the version with Perlman and Yo Yo Ma.

  • @Skytalker777 Yeah I really love that too but this type of classical is great to me

  • Beautiful, in so many ways!

  • why would he do that to dvorak

  • I played that solo at a violin recital years ago =D except i had a piano behind me instead of a full orchestra =/

  • He must look really cute when he cries!! I never saw anyone so adorable in my life. What a great musician!!!!!

  • Nobody else plays this piece and joyfully as David does!

  • I LOVE THE WAY HE LOOKED UP WHEN HE FINISHED PLAYING AS IF THANKING GOD FOR SUCH A WONDERFUL PIECE

  • @NONAROSSA Isn't he perfect? Looks like he's a lovable guy. Beautiful artist. I would love to see him in concert.

  • @soundwavs1961c he's adorable!

  • jeje toca bien bien chvr, carismatic DD

  • sweet!!

  • 4:25 ....pure feeling!

  • @cynThia19739 do you mean 3:25 or 2:25?

  • This is so beautiful!

  • I learned this on piano at 10 despite being simple it's very beautiful:)

  • 2:01-2:53 one of the best sections ever written

  • I'm after developing an obsession with him!!!!

I'm actually, like super crap at this song!!

    Risoluto bit is my fav!!

also .. Is it the orchestra playing the 'Viva La Vida' theme in the background .. or am I turning delirious in my ancient 14 year oldism?

  • Can I borrow your vibrato my concert? K thanks
