from what iknow all the percussionists in Africa or elsewhere mastered the basics! Why do you guys have to make so much noise?Maybe you should try practicing outside your prisons, with birds and trees and air making you feel when to stop?
@jaysmoot all travis barker does is flail around and hit his cymbals really hard...and i did a cover of a song he did so dont talk shit about how i cant play it whore...
Hola soy español y me parece de putisima madre qe hableis en ingles pero quien me contesta bueno lo mio era qe este es un manitas de la bateria y quisiera decirle qe si sigue dando espectaculos con su bateria gracias
EXACTLY! i hate travis barker wannabes, he is not that good. especially when you ask someone (who clearly knows nothing about drumming) twlls you he is their favourite drummer *initiate curbstop. Granted he has had sucess but he can't hold a stick to Johnny
@1234LED the travis haters are just as annoying as the people who think he's the best drummer who ever lived. both groups are over exaggerating, just on two different ends of the spectrum. case in point: your post.

I've been watching jrabb for awhile now, and you can get nitpicky with him, the now overused single hand rolls, his style of cymbal chokes, it becomes a bit repetitive and predictable, but his overall musicality and execution is freakish. He's a pioneer, there's no question about it. He's got a gift.
I agree, he can fall back on some familiar things sometimes. But his love of playing and sense of humor always come through, and he has definitely found sounds that are all his own. Sounds like he should try to find some new inspiration, but I still love watching him.
Why would he want to be limited and "defined"? Finding new inspirations and new ways to be creative at this point seems to be the best way for him to expand
Well Most videos of him playing are usually demo's guides or a video about a drum kit, so he probably does that a few times so i except him to recycle it later on.
i also found my way here trough some roland clips using johny rabb to promote their products. and i don't blame them. he truely has exelent drumming skills ! i also loved how he explains how the roland hd 1 v drums lite works :-) you can see he loves his music.
I'm going to be a percussionist Music Ed. major, and I've been seriously considering purchasing one of Roland's TD-9SX's. This would be the first real drum set I've ever owned. Do you have any pointers for a guy like me?
Wow! This is the first I've ever heard of this guy- what a beat master! I was looking at some Roland instructional videos and then found my way here. I was not expecting such a killer solo. He rocks! I will be looking out for this guy from now on..
ya it was just soloing and a promotion for the roland kit, but stellar drumming nonetheless. If it were to truly be a clinic then we all would have had drum kits and we be learning new techniques and shit lol but then it wouldnt have cost 10 dollars lol :P

@Nigelemmery1234: Danny Carey is INSANE! I mean that in a good way. The guy is off the chain with his drumming.

Really good drummers are Thomas Lang and ofcourse Johnny Rabb, the're just not that famous.
As:
That stupid Terry Bozzio with his biggest drum kit
Or drummers who play by accident in a very famous band *Sum 41*
Or drummers who make themselves famous...
Etc...

Guys like this emphasize how much Travis Barker wannabes should be shot...
godrob 2 years ago
Travis ain't bad! He's pretty good, really. he's a band drummer. He plays with people. he doesn't get to play off like this like Rabb and friends.
My credentials?
12 year drummer
won competitions
I know my stuff. I also know to never attempt to disqualify a drummer. Can TB do this stuff? No. But he could learn it.
he's actually learning a lot of gospel fill work, which leads you with emphasize into these exercises that'll help you learn this too.

He is actually not far off. Travis Barker is just a different type of drummer. It's hard to compare.

But its his style now, it defines who he is, if he didn't do what he does he would be just any other awesome drum player in the world.

what have you done to experience your self with percussion if you have never owned a drum set before? unless you have other percussion instruments
