Nice video man. You got a nice ass jeep. I've been looking for a jeep grand Cherokee and I was gonna put a lift on it but I'm not sure what kind I want. I want to put a 4 inch with hopefully 33 inch mudding tires but I'm not sure how I'm gonna do it with still a bunch of wheel space. If you can give me some advice I would be greatly appricated. Thank you
The rocks don't seem to get slippery just due to the rubber. They are real "clingy." But a little rain spells disaster in Moab. Red Rock and Wet Rock are two totally different animals. Ha ha.
Yes, Dana 35 in front, 44 in rear. No problems yet. I have broken my CV joints twice, so my next upgrade is new axles with U-joints in them. CV joints seem to be the weak link, especially with lockers. I only turn my lockers on when absolutely needed, and turn off as soon as over the obsticle. Just turning a corner on red-rock with lockers on can break the CV joints. Ugh.
having tried all styles of lifts on WJ's, and especially for a "daily driver," the only kind I'd recommend is a long arm lift. Whether 4" or 6", the long arm lifts keep the WJ driving straight and no death-wobble. They're more expensive, but the WJ feels like a sports car with it instead of feeling like a tractor with no control. LONG ARM!
Hell's Revenge is featured in the latest Popular Mechanics magazine. ridiculous. if i ever had money for a lift kit for my wj id totally go here. this is sweet
i could be wrong but i think all the grands due to heaier cale with a dana 44 both front and rear i dont know for sure but i got a 96 xj with super 35s and 35 inch BFG M/Ts and i havent had many issues due to larger tire size a outer u joint now and then but thats it. again i could be mistaken on the grand
hey i have and 03 lareado grand. i want to put some kind of lift on it. i dnt want ti do any serious off road. it is mostly just my daily driver. i want to lift it enough to put some 20 inch mambas under it... any ideas or suggestions?
I have a chance to pick up a great condition 01 jeep grand cherokee i6 but I was looking for a cherokee with the older ody style. what you think? which is better older or newer like this one in video? nice vids I love watching them!!
Well, by "older" you can mean either the Cherokee or Grand Cherokee. Both can be heavily modified. I've always liked the Grands better, and more specifically the WJs so that is what I bought. The older ZJ style Grand is a great Jeep. I owned one before my current Grand. I think more mods can be done to the ZJ model Grand Cherokee than the WJ. And the other style XJ Cherokee also is very easy to modify with many options for parts.
Very nice video, props. Perhaps I'll see y'all at NEXT years Moab. I gotta 4.0L '00 WJ right now, working on getting it all rigged up for Moab, it won't be ready this year but definitely in '10.
BAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA! land rovers dont even have enough clearance to get in that bowl let alone out. now a jeep cherokee (not the grand) might have done it faster....

How can you argue with that? So few modifications. Jeep really does make the best 4x4.

you've got a dana 35 in the front of that thing no?
how's it been holding up? I've got an XJ and had no issue but the grand is much heavier.
