  • I did some work in a rope making factory about thirty years ago where they made rope from shoe lace size up to supertanker.mooring ropes The dollies for the largest ropes (that`was the name given to the spools you see moving acroos the table) were the size of a tall man.

  • I only know what I've already posted here. It is just a machine I saw at a fair and found interesting.

  • Do you know who owns this machine? Do you know of any for sale? What is the proper name of this type of braid? It is very interesting to me, I have worked with many braiders, but never one like this. I wonder what the finished braid looks like. Thanks-Joe

  • There is a factory in Chowchilla Calif that has several large versions of this machine that make wire. They can set it up to make a simple twist or change the braiding sequence to make extra flexible welding cable.

  • cool vid

  • Amazing! Video is too short. Could you give details about this machine?

  • Hi, yes, it is too short, but what you see is salvaged footage. I didn't think anyone really wanted to watch a few minutes of my feet ;-)

The only available information was posted on a sign with the display. The machine is approximately from 1920, and was used for braiding rope for lobster pots in Maine.

  • this makes only 100 gr/day

come and contact with me for higher capacity rope making machines ;)
