You are consumed trying to fit in with society, you become a slave to getting the right appearance in front of your mates. I agree religion is often a pile of rubbish, but faith is different. We both have faith in something, I put my faith in Jesus whereas you put your faith in your own brain and that there is nothing after death. One day we will find out who put their faith in the right person.

@cardforlife I'm fairly certain I'm not brainwashed because there is noone telling me what I should think or believe. I am pretty open-minded about what makes the world go round. Day by day, science teaches us a little more, and we learn. Science will admit mistakes, and then try to correct by finding other proofs. But religious people are so convinced they know the truth about this life and the next. You can never prove it, so you have to rely on "faith". In this respect, no I don't have faith.

@cambola4 Well then you are brainwashed.. by what science tells you, although as you yourself just said scientists are always changing their mind and admit that they don't understand a lot of tihngs. You also make the mistake in thinking that science and faiths disproove each other, which is not the case, on many grounds they follow each other and work well together. And if you could proove something 100% then you wouldn't need faith would you, thus defeating the entire of it.

@cardforlife Oh dear. Where did I say "scientists were ALWAYS changing their minds"? Please don't twist my words like that. The point is that most of the new things we discover are through science and that scientists will admit when they do not know something. But the many things that science proves (e.g. genetics, medicine) does indeed prove you do not need faithin supernatural forces. Science can show proofs and I can accept them if I want because they are reasonable. That is not brainwashing.

@cardforlife Science can indeed disprove faith. A lot of religious people think snakes can talk and that man lived at the same time as dinosaurs. I.e. they put faith in these silly stories from medieval books and wilfully reject the scientific proofs. And I go back to what I keep on saying: You religious people cannot prove a single thing and yet claim truth. So as far as I'm concerned you're making it up. And given the many charlatans in religious history, that's a good assumption to make.
