I have created a form to pick a random record from any table or query. You may download the database and get instructions from my website. Go to AccessMVP-DOT-com. Click my name. Then click "Random Picker" in upper right.
@SwanArt1 - You may download the Random Picker I made by going to my website. There is a link in the video description. I am interested in your feedback :)
oh wow i've never seen this...when u do the random draw does it automatically add the names like sinc them or do you have to enter each name yourself for it to draw the names??
As folks subscribe to me, I put the usernames into a database. Each subscriber is identified with a numeric key and a number with the order they subscribed. I also use this database to construct the TO to notify subscribers when I post new videos -- thought this was automatic but, apparently, it is not (unless there is a default somewhere that I can't find).
you're welcome! and thank you for the kind words! I am hoping to catch up a bit this week on work and other things -- then make another video next week :)
thank you, I like that I get to be home with my family. I don't always have as much work as I can handle so I write books (which I give away), answer posts (also volunteer), and now make videos -- too bad they don't pay the bills but I love it!

I was not sure how the random number function worked (since learning it in Fortran IV 30 years ago). Thanks for the refresher. I have a question. I'm not a VB programmer obviously, just an Access hacker but, can the RDN number ever be 1 or is it always less than 1? In choosing the range of records, N, should it be N+1 in order for it to include the last record if the RDN cannot be = 1?
Is there a way to download that randomizer you made :D

you're welcome, John. The Rnd * function returns a value greater than or equal to zero but LESS than 1
*not RDN (smile)
"should it be N+1"
oh, you are absolutely correct! thank you. I will be sure to put the GrahamFamily in my next drawing whether they comment or not...
