Great series. I wouldn't worry about the length or pacing, the subject matter is fascinating. DPRJones did a series on a 45sec statement by a fox news commentator about the British health service.. It took DPR 20 mins (if memory serves). to debunk the claims. Solid work sir
@nishbrown It is worse in the original vid at 1:37:
Baugh: let's figure that out, mathematician, if it took 26,000 times 11, how long did it take?
Juby: 26 million
Baugh: No, over 200,000 years
I lol'd, but decided not to include it as it was just a calculation error, but funny to be so far off. I bet Baugh beat him after the camera stopped rolling.
@martiangrundy Thanks! Just wait, I have 2 episodes lined up already. I was going to do one because I wanted to do each part as a different creationist guest, but I saw a special with Juby again on human evolution and I don't think I can resist.
Thanks so much for making these. They are invaluable for someone like me, who firmly believes in evolution, but doesn't always have the technical ability to refute these creationist claims. I can't imagine anyone watching both your videos and Baugh's side by side and not realizing that science is on the side of evolution.
@kolomgorov I appreciate the praise, but trust me, they can realize it. "Who are you, you're not on TV, you don't know nothing" "You can't see because of your evo bias" "All you can show is mockery because you have no facts" Oh yeah, they can realize it, and they will.
I really dislike people like Ian Juby, etc. who use their authority to make crazy claims like this. Even more sad is the people that believe this pseudoscience without checking the claims. sad
@pastafariandan Nope, you are WAY off. It is another geologist youtuber who has been making phenomenal vids explaining the geology of the Grand Canyon and repeatedly pwning nephy.... :P
These videos need more exposure. Even if a creationist isn't converted at least they would know that these guys don't have their facts straight. And their credibility would be questioned by some.
Then again you may start getting PM's from people who just want to stump you with esoteric questions on vague processes. And if you can't answer them that proves humans are descendant from a man transmuted from dirt and alligators use to grazing animals in Eden.
Loved it - so interesting and well presented (your bits - not theirs!) Looking forward to the next one. Why do they say things like 'cretateous'? If the world's been around 6000 years, an age like the cretateous might be a couple hundred years long! They are obbviously from the Cretardeous.
@Danmill23 Actually I am going to do some more and will be referencing one of your vids in it. The next video (I think) I will be addressing in the series is another Juby vid where he talks prominently about the alleged Lucy pelvis reconstruction. I would love to utilize clips from your video (with credit given, of course!) if that is okay with you.
@LithodidMan There are few claims by creationists that piss me off more than the (slanderous) discrediting of Lovejoy. Simultaneously there a few claims that expose the weak thinking (and paranoia) of the creationist than getting their righteous panties in a bunch over a "nova video".
I'd be beyond pleased to have my video used in such good company.
@WhirlingWolves I can't help but understand why we don't just assume that Juby knows what he's talking about, after all he has that "explorer" hat to verify his credentials! Hahahahahahaha! Stupid Creationists.
Thanks for doing videos like this, subjects like this are outside of what I have much knowledge about so I don't spend much time ever watching guys like Baugh. When I do it's easy enough to look up some things to see that they're wrong but it really takes someone with specialized training to pick apart the subtle flaws in their position.
The injections of humor really help make the series to.
@jmm1233 I understand how the names must seem cumbersome , but there is really a pattern to them that is really elegant and informative. The species name I am using is the name of a research vessel, the genus name is long established. My species honors the expedition that I was privileged to be a part of, and also explains the position it occupies in the animal kingdom.
@LithodidMan yeah , naing after the research vessel good idea it will get hits on google for the research essel as well as the spieces , or name after the skipper too
I wonder if crayfish burrows in the heavy clay of Houston might be able to fossilize.

Comment on part 5: "lack of a better term"- How about "conduit"? Or is that one too many syllables?
On this part: Um, basic math FAIL!!! 26,000 X 4 = 104,000 > 100,000!!!!
3 "Ph.D's" and he can't do math!!
Great Series!!
Informative and Entertaining!!
