  • I love her playing!!

  • fantastic ! ! !

  • I live Rhoda too!! She is the best!!! Makes me want to turn my Hammond on and do some screaming leads!!

  • ✿✿ ✿✿ ✿✿ ✿✿ ✿✿ ✿✿ ✿✿ ✿✿

  • Just about the best in the world these days.

    Right on Rhoda............

  • wow, by far the best Hammond playing I have ever heard

  • I love ya Rhoda, will you marry me?

  • this one of my favorite feelgood tracks on hammond , a really good sounding

    a-100 too

  • Excellent !! Thanks for posting Tehtube. After a long search I found at last the DVD "lady quartet" where this track is also played. Trombone substituted by 2 saxes but nevertheless it's all great stuff. I have no preference, it is music as music is ment to happen !!!

  • All three of them are right at the very top of their game... it's a brilliant piece of work.

  • It's not Jazz ... It's nothing ... but just musicians playing ... Great ...

  • FANTASTIC playing by all 3 members....love the trombonist's tone! :)

  • Watching this video 3 - 4 times a week !!! Great.

  • nice !... です.

  • Very nice.

  • Has she got two Leslies set up? Noticed from 7:01 she switches to "stop" and then you hear "chorale" come in at 7:06, sounds very spacial....

  • No. One 142 leslie, but with special controls. Built in modern 3 speed motor controller (slow/stop/speed) and this time Rhoda adjusted the switcher are middle=stop. She stopped this leslie in this time.

  • Such emotional relief at 5:35 and 6:21! Dust in my eyes.

  • Rhoda Scott and Jimmy Smith, separated at birth...but they must be twins, I swear.

  • bravo

  • Beautiful sheer abandon!

  • Awesome!!!

  • Simply great ¡¡¡¡

  • Great use of Leslie with Rhoda, Dennerlein is ok, but she tends to play in the same register, seems she always dials up 888 000 000 and percussion, or maybe thats just me... lol

  • A jazz unisex.

  • Fantastic sound !!!

  • Right ON!

  • 裸足ってのがかっこいいですね〜

  • 1978 charleville mezieres

norte de frança EXCELCIOR café concerto

  • Thank you so much for sharing...

    Ed Belgium

  • This is amazing!

  • you have the whole show? recorded by TV crew?

  • from tv 1 hour. from different camera the whole show plus soundcheck.

  • Rhoda Scott is my favorite jazz Hammond organist. Her technique and musicianship is remarkable. The only jazz organist out there today who really PLAYS the pedalboard like a classical organist.

  • @organdude44 jazz organists don't normalls play basslines with the pedals, just use them to give an extra punch with the bass lines they should be playing in their left hand.

  • @organdude44 Heard about Barbara Dennerlein check her out!

  • I must be one of the lucky ones, I get to sing with Rhoda on Wednesday 13 Aprie athe the corum in Montpellier France

  • what a joy this group!

  • Sheer abandon by these beautiful ladies, I just love them. They lift my spirits high and by the way,Rhoda has nice feet too.

  • このノリ、すばらしい!!!!

    好きや~!

    ハモンド!

  • i love it! a lady band. Go Rhoda.

  • Anybody ever heard Rhoda play with Kim Nally, particularly a tune called everybody wants to rule the world? Know where I can get It? Ambrosecaster

  • da AHM ... that was incrdible!! Just stumbled upon it as a YouTube offering "you might be interested' ... now, I just GOTTA find everything this SMOKIN trio has laid down!

  • Rhoda killed that organ and the lady on the trobone was goin!

  • Purely smokin'!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The super girlssssssss.

  • I'm Wet!

  • super...........

  • Wow, look at them go! And that lady's feet at the organ/piano... Thanks for sharing!

  • This groovy combo should be a favorite of every jazz lover in the world!

  • Dude this is pretty groovy.

  • Absolutely a 10++++++++++++++ !!!

  • WHERES THE DRUM SOLO!?!?!?!

    Great playing, luvvvved it!

  • Man, this gals hot on the Hsmmond, and incredibly great kicking the pedals! It was a real treat listening to this and watching her feet. Makes me wish I still had the pedals for my B3

  • the best video on you tube all these ladies are kickin' it, that's how jazz is played

  • Anyone work out the registration she is usinng on upper??

  • Sounds like 88 8000 008 to me, pretty standard registration, especially effective on console with foldback

  • Her Leslie seems to pick up speed unusually quick....

  • Who's that on the bone? Nice too!!! Im in charleston, sc...where r u guys?

  • Every time I play this video I think: what a fantastic group you have got there, Rhoda!

    All wonder women.

  • Sick trombone solo.

  • very cool in deed. Only Barbara Dennerlein is better.

  • This is great! anybody can recommend any similar music like this?

  • You just can't beat the Hammond Organ -- not even with my organ.

  • Nagyon jó!

  • what a wonderful trombone solo! the trombone is not my favorite instrument for jazz solos, but this one has changed my perspective. Her tone is warm, and she tells a story through the phrasing.

  • bravo !! sublime !! superbe !! merci ! (chrys)

  • She is amazing, especially that she's so good in the feet. Yet, this would be nothing to a classically trained organist. For example, Middleshulte's fugue for pedals.

  • Two different animals, not much point in comparing. Let's see a classically trained organist swing like this. But if you want to see jazz organists with crazy feet, look at Defrancesco or Dennerlein.

  • I didn't compare. And... I can't play like this.

Also, Joey D is very weak in pedals.

  • yeah. I would agree with the comment about Joey D and the pedals but he is my favorite. the guy just has an explosive energy that I love.

As far as Dennerlein goes.........She has 10 feet!!! Awesome musician.

  • I've learned a lot from transcribing JD's solos. He's a very linear player. OTOH, Larry Goldings is very non-linear, and in a way, more difficult to ape.

  • for Gods sake why do people like these not find themselves in the grammy awards ?

  • I am a Hammond player also . . XB-3M . . and love a great organ ensemble . . your trio is very nice. I had a Trombone,Drums,Organ (Lowrey w/ Leslie) in early 60's. Trombone works so great with organ. Kudos, Lanny Davis

  • yes i too, had a group featuring myself on yamaha yc45 d with bass pedals and 850 leslie tenor and bass troms and vocal drums what a groove we played mostly standards at sydney locations in the early '80s oh the troms used to vocal also

  • i have just commenced my 80th year in music commencing with piano and organ at churchwhich required both heel and toe to play the pedal organ this wonderful player gets her sustain from the correct touch and release of the pedals i have just acquired a new computer and am enjoying finding such treasures as Rhoda Scott and her talented groups

  • Hammond 好きには、たまりません!!!

    のるは、のるは、のりっぱなし!!

  • とても良いね、気に入ったよ。

  • Rhoda you are the greatest female on a Hammond by far.Just love this peice who wrote it?I heard of you in Switzerland when I did a concert at the orgalserium.Sorry to hear of your sad loss.

  • favolosa. is faboulus.

  • Complete show link in (more info)

  • Fantastic!

Very hypnotic to watch and listen to!

Anyone know if the bass has sustain?

  • Isn't bass sustain. Standard Hammond B3 bass.

  • Its difficult to understand how the organbass can sound as nice as this, because the basstone is quite "dead" and short on those Hammond models.

  • My A100 is exceptional good sounding B3 from 1961, not added string bass. This video i little bit compressed the bass range. But Rhoda more played parallel the bass line with left hand and foot.

  • Normaly the organbass players are using the parallel tecnich, but I was wonder about the sustain since she dont seem to use the parallel playing very much in this piece.

Btw-A100 is a A100 and not a B3. Inside they are the same but outside is different.

I think the A100 is a great Hammond with the reverb and less kilos compare to the B3 and C3(not to mention the RT-3)

    Thanks.

  • Inside is the instrument, music, outside only the cover.

  • correct pedal technique is applied by heel and toe along with electronics such as reverb. this talented artist has always featured bare foot pedal playing from her earliest contributions 1980 and through discipline and hard work the sustain effect is there to stay....try it yourself play a c scale heel the naturals and toe the sharps/flats....more info if required?

  • the sustain is reverb but heel and toe pedalling is the secter of sustain see moanin' by rhoda scott 1972

  • correction....the sustain is actually hammond reverb assisted by accurate heel and toe pedalling and left hand broken chord(arpeggiated)paralleling pedal notes....phew and a lot of discipline.....

  • Did you ever realized, that these days's good music(very rare anyway) always has some kind of sadness.

But not her music! Her stuff is full of happyness, and joy!Unbeliveable!!!

    :)

  • One of the very top organists on the circuit and a really smart drummer Wow! Great trombone player as well : a superb video, anymore of this please?

  • tout simplement génial(e)!

  • A true accomplished trio. Love that B3 (A100) sound!

  • she is working those pedals...awesome clip

  • That was beautiful...BEAUTIFUL!

  • I like the trombone in particular!

  • These women are Great!! That Trombonist is good, and Rhoda Scott had that organ talking.

  • jah bless for this music...

  • Excelllllllllent !!! Elle veillit vraiment super bien... comme le bon vin.

  • hatalmas volt a ma este. minőségi, érthető zene.

    még mindig mosolygok. :)

  • mindegy az a dobos de jó csaj !!!!!!!

  • I used to see her live in New Bedford, Mass. back in the early 60's, with a killer trio. I have several of her early LP's. She is fantastic.

  • Végem van ,de nagy óriási teljes az őrület

  • 20.03.2008 Szeged, again. Ugyanez felállás, műsor.

  • Driving all the way!

  • Hey cuz, where are your people from? Are we related? Fast sticks, hot licks, and smokin chops......

  • Washington DC area, original family roots are in the Richmond area from what I know. Man, listening to this performance again makes me want to applaud the solos even though they can't hear me!!! Way to go ladies!!!!

  • Oh, I almost forgot to say-Genesis-chapter 4-verse 21!! Look it up, as it is true. The harp (piano) and the organ (pipe or B3).

  • Rhoda Scott's lived in France for years. There are many American jazz players over there. It's a much more appreciative audience over there, day-in, day-out. Barbara Dennerlein doesn't play here often for the same reason.

  • ok

    your really cool

i know this is a lame thing to say, but i don't see your vid on here

just quit hating on others than Jimmy, i love him but he isn't the only one

  • wow

    cool

if that has any thing to do with jimmy smith let me know please!

i'm not being sarcastic or anything, but that made no sense

  • It has everything to do with Jimmy Smith and every great musician. Without Genesis we would not exist! I hope you can dig it because it is the "ULTIMATE TRUTH"!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Woman oh Woman! What talent!!

  • the band is great! all of the players know how!!

    lol,

    steve

  • Please, read the Video Owner Options. (more..)

    Cheers

  • julie saury...very graceful

  • I discover talent of Rhoda scott when I listened a radio station from Holland Muziek....this trio=excellent if I find a cd from this 3 beautiful woman,I buy

  • zeg 't dan meteen tegen mij a.u.b.

  • This song was recorded as a vocal in the 80s/. It is most likely not very eas to find: The leader was Jimmy Cobb, and the original album was called "So Nobody Else Can Hear" I have it on CD under the title

"The session". It is sung by Marilyn Redfield (never heard her on any other recordings) and it features

some monster players.>Freddie Hubbard, Larry Willis, Dave Liebman (incredible Soprano solo) and Pete Levin (incredible synth solo)...GOod luck finding it!

  • Thanks for sharing! Love this piece & Rhoda.

  • C'est bon, Bon...BON !!!!

Rhoda, c'est vraiment la plus GRANDE.

  • I reciently played a jazz gig with sarah @ OU...she's great, and from a pianist perspective, she's very easy to follow.

  • Rhoda Scott has been one of the great jazz organ players for close to 35 years. She plays "the right way" and few can match her "organ room" sound. She is also a really great person and loves to mentor younger players. Many "cut their teeth" with her and she has much to be proud of.

  • Rhoda, WOW! you and the other beautiful women are really good. Thanks so much for sharing this. Great Music!!

  • Pistaccio,great tune..Written in Honor of Miles.

As far as I can see it

There's no colored way to be it

    Because everyone I know

    is Pistaccio

  • Thanks for info, i updated this video :-) Really great tune.

  • This song has lyrics too: As far as I can see it, there's no other way to be it Because everyone I know Is Pistaccio People Come, people go they don't know I see them greeen People stop, people stare, things aren't always what they seem As far as I can see it There's no colored way to be it Because everyone I know Is pistaccio
