  • that truck is not a oil field truck and he did not dump frac water and i will bet my life on that

  • if your going to run around w/ a camera, at least do something useful like filming cops when they fuck up our citizens..as for this driver, he probably was just eating a sandwich or something, if he was going to unload a bunch of toxic shit he wouldnt dream of doing it on the side of a highway! he would get fired, and there would be alot more fluid on the ground than what seemed to be about 2 galons.....but for real though, you should start watching the pigs

  • good job

  • Keep those cameras handy!

  • Lewis, thank you for this! Not sure if you read, in PghGaz? A PA fracking waste water hauler was arrested 3/17/11 on 98 counts of illegally dumping waste water across six PA counties. His operation was hired by several fracking gas companies and he used false manifests and more. The Associated Press also reported on this. Good work, Lewis! Like they say, if you see something, say something!

  • @natasprotector I would have stayed around to explain myself to people so I didn't look guilty!!! I would have maybe gotten in the truck and rolled down the window to talk to the guy only because I am a woman but I still would have explained myself to others who thought that I was breaking the law!!! What would you have done??

  • @bensmarybeth1116 I would have drove away bc it is none of this guys buisness what I am doing while I am at work! I have a right to privacy, what this guy did is border line harrassment

  • If you would have read some of the previous comments rustymetal you would know that the driver wasnt dumping his load. He was offloading a small amount to keep it from spilling out the top of his truck. That truck has a 2'x2' opening in the top with no hatch. If truck is over full water splashes out when it takes off and stops. Driver did the right thing to keep from creating icy spots on the roadway. The pick up station is right behind him, information that was also posted in previous comments.

  • I think that what you did was right!!! If he wasn't dumping something illegal then he wouldn't have run like a scared little man in his truck!!! Maybe he would have told you what he was dumping!!!

  • @bensmarybeth1116 clearly he wasnt running away he was simply done with his lawful procedure. and how would you react if some stranger started filming you on the side of the road?

  • Good for you. Great video.

  • You really need to get away from "shooting from the hip". You need to be a tad more "investigative", with some good reporting you just might get a loyal following and make a difference!

  • Yep, just as I thought . No results posted here. Because... IT'S FRESH WATER!

  • i dont know if it was fresh, there was a little bit of mud in there, maybe its alien mud??????

  • then what were the results? show the chain of custody and the cleanliness of the sample bottles please. I'm not even going to go to the fact that you may have doctored the sample before sending for analysis.

  • Guess what? Test results are back. It wasn't fresh water.

  • See my Youtube video "Don't Frack Me, Bro!" for more on this.

Look for the version which says "Share this", because it's got all the latest numbers.

  • stop spreading more lies, enough is enough

  • wasn't frac water either you jack wagon!

  • @lewisforwv how far does your rabbit hole go?

  • @lewisforwv wow, you are truely ignorant. that is not a vac truck, its not even equipped to take in frac fluids from a frac tank. also, state law requires vac trucks to have large residual waste decals on the sides and rears of any truck hauling contaminated water such as frac fluid. another thing, frac fluids are not useless and worthless, there is a huge misconception that frac water is discarded after each frac, but it is actually reused in future fracs and never discarded.

  • @avick84 is this some sort of joke? 'never discarded'? It is well documented that not ALL produced water is reused. Some is, maybe even the majority, but not all. Get your facts straight. As far as the signs/decals go. Yes, they are supposed to, but not all trucks are. Afterall, who's checking every truck? Get your 'facts' straight.

  • @nathan9383 Well nathan, I already have my facts straight.. I am employed by the water broker of a major player in the marcellus shale.. I can assure you that this major player does not discard ANY frac fluid and that all produced water is reused in future fracs. See... the difference between you and I is that you speak based on hear-say, where as I speak based on experience. The only destination for produced water, is the next frac site. The decals are enforced, it is a liability for us.

  • @avick84 There is a difference between the 'major player' you work for and all the companies at work in the region. You can't speak on behalf of everyone, it would only be 'hear-say.' It simply isn't true that 100% of all produced water from every well is recycled. Water treatment plants have been taking the water and putting it back into the rivers, those being the most transparent cases. I speak based on the first-hand accounts of people who live there, people I have personally met with.

  • @nathan9383 The only water we put through water treatment is drill mud and that even goes back into the fracs. help me understand the benefits of discarding frac fluids back into water ways... even if it was legal.. help me understand what the benefits are.. maybe we just know something that all the other companies dont, that frac fluid is reusable.. but, why reuse it when you can risk being fined/shutdown and go buy new fresh water at a premium?

  • @avick84 If you're asking me to rationalize why it's done, I have no response. I don't understand why either. Maybe it's not always as cost effective as you say, maybe some people are just douchebags, I don't know. The point is that it has happened. PA DEP wouldn't 'urge' businesses to stop putting the produced water through ill-equiped water treatment plants for no reason. Why can't you just accept the fact that it has happened and people haven't always been held acountable?

  • and just an update for those asking about the DEP, yes the DEP was out to the site and they recieved a much needed laugh at this. good job on wasting their time and tax payers money, but then again what do you care about PA for your from WV... hey mr. lewis the world is gonna end in 2012 too right!!!????

  • LIAR LIAR pants on fire, shame on you for making this video, do you crave attention or are you just plain stupid mr. gump

  • Truth is you dont know shit. You still havent figured out that pipeline contractors DO NOT PRODUCE FRACWATER. They dig a ditch and put pipe in it. They dont drill deep into the earth and frac rock. This video is a lie as far as frac water being dumped. If dumping city water is a crime then you better contact the fire depts. around the country and get them to stop because that is the same water this truck dumped. You are a typical politician wanna be ( A LIAR )

  • @MrBman129

So explain to me why a Truck driver would pick up 'city water' and simply dump it on the side of the road? If he had to empty his tanker before his next pickup it should have been done at the pickup station. Someone is losing profit there buddy, clean water is not free. You know what is free? unusable toxic waste, we practically throw the stuff anywhere we can and hope it never comes back.

  • my bad. sorry for the multi post! thought i was editing. just kept adding posts.

  • i want one of those cameras that show you frac dumping. where do you buy one? he obviously knew it was frac water by using his camera, right?

this is right out of the anti drilling playbook, throw mud and see how much sticks. just like dimock, dunkard creek, tds in the mon, etc, all blown out of proportion or lies.

  • i want one of those cameras that show you frac dumping. where do you buy one? he obviously knew it was frac water by using his camera, right?

  • Its all in your video 1:00 to 2:00 you can see where the snow is melted in front of the water shed when the truck ran over filled the track where he pulled straight forward to dump so that he would be LEAGAL when he left. He also wasn't running he has a job to do haul WATER and thats what he was doing in a WATER TRUCK not a vac truck...

  • Its all on your video take look 1:00 to 2:00 you can see where snow is melted by the water when it ran over the truck when it was over filled by the water shed where the hose is that he just filled up with and you can see the tracks where he pulled straight forward to dump some to be leagal and he wasn't running he has a job to do that is haul water once again its a water truck not a vac truck when you dump water on gravel it get dirty looks like your sample...

  • If this was as you say, why hasn't the DEP contacted this company. You said you filed a complaint with them. Yet they have taken no action. Could you have possibly made a mistake?? You should own up to it.

  • And Why won't that happen mr bman? Because TRUTH is defense to defamation and slander. So maybe it's the bait that is needed to prove what I already know. So bring it on....

  • Another Just to let people know update. For those of us that didnt know, Lewis here is a lawyer. He has his own website norunaroundcom. You of all people should know you better be 100 percent sure of the facts before you go posting them on the internet. If I was this company I would drag your butt into court for slander and defamation. You could represent yourself, bet that would be a hoot.

  • be glad to talk on here. know enough about marcellus drilling to know you are wrong about what went on at your video site. no dumping, fresh city water overflow from a water hauling truck

  • Just to let people know, Directional Drilling has nothing to do with drilling for natural gas or oil. It is a means to get utilities from one side of an obstruction to the other. Like under a river or interstate or wetland. No toxic chemicals are used in this process. If I was going to offload something illegally I could find alot better spot than along side a busy 4 lane highway.

  • @MrBman129 Ya thats exactly what I was thinking!!

  • @MrBman129. I try not to make generalizations about things nor do I like to make comments without facts, therefore I can't say what that truck driver was dumping and it very well could have been water. However, the its seems you either work for the gas drilling companies or have been grossly misinformed about the facts. Fact: directional drilling IS used in the process of extracting natural gas from shale formations. Fact: toxic chemicals are used in the process of directional drilling.

  • Boy you sure a smart guy looks like know bout everything bout this stuff sure is alot nice info about midwest you found like anyone can but maybe one thing you over look is that is a water truck not vac truck there is a difference n a water truck at a water shed wow what are the chances of that maybe u should get a fine for that parking job that a pretty busy road could have caused an accident sounds like a great place to dump stuff u r an idiot!!!

  • What is your name, address and phone number? I would like to talk to you more about your statements and contentions.

  • yes, but you say you saw the "dumping" here and even video taped it, and you were wrong! your hands and fingers were tingling! sir , you are lying! and for your own information, acrylonitrile and btex are NOT used in fracing wells. just scare tactics being used by anti drilling zealots. your samples, methodology and your information on the issues are as tainted as your video.

  • BTW, even though I saw the withdraw and the dumping of flowback in Wetzel County last year with my own eyes, when we would complain, the company would just say they were withdrawing the water and not dumping it. They also dumped it on the roads for dust control and we tested it and found toxic chemicals like acrylonitrile and BTEX in puddles along the road to a farm. In August, the WVDEP suspended the permit for road application of produced water.

  • That would be the logical explanation and the economically advantageous justification for what the driver was doing. A similar situation was going on in Wetzel County WV last year. Trucks would dump in streams and then fill up their trucks at roughly the same location. The WVDEP started cracking down on this procedure after the Dunkard Creek fishkill because a contributing factor of the fish kill was the low water flows of the creek. Now the WVDEP has a water withdrawal guidance tool.

  • As for trusting the source? Yes, I have an agenda. But so does the company/driver who did this. Although, I don't benefit financially, I do want to stop hydraulic fracturing until it can be done safely without contaminating our water resources. As for the company, it can benefit financially if it can dispose of flowback without taking it to a certified facility. A more than likely explanation in this case is that the driver dumps his flowback at this site and fills up with fresh water from Al's.

  • The sample also froze very inconsistently. While it was in the back of my truck a portion of it froze and some of it remained unfrozen. In fact, it froze in a column in the middle with liquid in the bottom. I believe this was due to the salt content. Test results are forthcoming. I will share the results either way. I am confident that it was not fresh water from Al's Water Service.

  • As for fresh water versus frack water: If you look at frames around 2:16-2:20, you will see bubbles in the water. Hopefully, fresh water does not bubble or foam. Also I noticed a burning sensation on my thumb, index finger, and middle finger of my right hand after taking the sample. I got some of the water on my fingers from the side of the bottle. My fingers tingled for more than an hour later from the exposure. The color and the smell was also consistent with flowback water.

  • Its funny how upset you all get when one worker is held responsible for his actions. But when a farmer or landowner complains about well water contamination, toxic emmissions, traffic problems, livestock health impacts, property value decline, and a total disruption of life, you could care less. And the companies say prove it. Then, when we do, you cry about how this guy might lose his job and that the video is a lie, etc. Investigations are still pending. We will see what happens.

  • how can you trust that this sample has not been tampered with? it is obvious that lewisforwv has an agenda and he was obviously wrong about the video that he posted.

  • Any word back on the sample you took?

  • I'm sure that the driver would appreciate your comments.. i'll be sure to pass them on to him...

  • Well said Mr BMan!!!!

  • Driver had just filled up at the hydrant behind him. Had overloaded his truck and was dumping some out. Company is a pipeline contractor, not well drillers. They dont frac wells. Water is used for testing the pipeline. Except for the dirt on the ground it is the same water you get from the faucet, which you will find out when you get your test results back, if you had it tested. Then an apoligy would be due the driver and the company.

  • i know the driver of this truck personally!... i'm glad that he thought about the safety of the other drivers and dumped the extra water. I wish i had 100 drivers like him in my fleet of trucks. Unlike YOU Mr Lewis with all of your assumptions... Like that old saying goes, "You know what happens when you ASSUME?"

  • Comment removed

  • well aren't you a jackass! You can't tell the difference between water and mud?well if you knew anything you should have been able to tell the difference. maybe you should have gone up & talked to him instead of ASSUMING. he would have offered you a glass of city water, because that's exactly what he was hauling. He dumped the water because he over filled the truck. he was trying to prevent a ROAD HAZARD by the water spilling out & freezing. You should be thanking him not accusing him!

  • lewisforwv. you should stop by every day. Fresh water is loaded here every day. The same water people drink. Get your facts straight before you jump to conclusions and cause an uproar. All pipeline companies are not the terrible people you are making them out to be. You have caused the driver undue stess because you didn't take the time to actually see what was happening.

  • The person that posted this video should have looked a little closer before accusing this man of doing something wrong. The driver had just filled his water tank with WATER. This is a water loading facility belonging to Al's Water Service. It is the same water the people in Canonsburg use. He "dumped" about 30 gallons to keep the water from splashing onto the highway, freezing, and possibly causing an accident. He was actually trying to do the right thing.

  • Just find out from the company what they were carrying, instead of going hysterical.

It's unreal listening to the lemmings who happily buy into the enviro nazi propaganda. Can you please have an independent thought once in a while?

The guy with the camera is driving a gas-guzzling truck, wearing clothes made with petroleum products and living in home that is most likely heated with natrual gas. Hypocrites.

  • and how was he suppose to know this guy had a camera in his hand as he was already leaving. There is a distance from where the truck and the guys truck is you know. Also come on the dude who took this video even said "there is a water service there" does that not explain anything?

  • @MizzDizzyLizzy27 Right. The truck driver was already backing up, meaning he was looking in his mirrors to see behind the truck.

  • I went to the K&M Office and asked them why he was dumping and what he was dumping and its because he was over loaded with water his meter was frozen and was over 30 Gallons of water so he spilled it out so it wouldn't spill on the road, or would you rather him spill it on the road so it turned to a sheet of ice? And as for the driving he wasn't doing anything wrong.

  • MzDizzy, so what you are saying is that he filled up right there with clean water, and then for some odd reason decided to dump it right out again?

How do you explain him fleeing when he saw the camera? If it was perfectly legit, why not just stay there and continue dumping?

ALL concerned- You can buy a TDS meter for under $20! All you would need to do is put the probes into the questionable water, push a button and you would know instantly if it were Frack, Brine or flow back water.

  • You know that guy was not dumping frac water he was actually filling water up. I live around here and i watch them fill up everyday thats CLEAN WATER from Al's Water Service. Thats city drinking water and when water mixes with dirt it turn to.... MUD! please let us know when you do find out.

  • Hi, this is an intriguing video! I'd love to know if you find out any more about it.

  • @deeceemo That's the right approach. Let's find out what he dumped first before making the noose.

  • I knew that with fracking they would pump water far down into the earth at under very high pressure to break up shale containing gas and then (somehow) capture the gas. I didn't know they would then have to truck toxic water. Very likely that trucker is getting paid by how many loads of water he takes away. He ought to be getting paid for how much of that toxic water he actually delivers to a treatment plant. Good example of where more regulation is needed!

  • @marnixava This is just stupid. These guys are paid by the hour.

  • Thank you, man. You're a hero. God bless you. Keep it up. Who is the company? Post their name. Let's send them a link to this video. People of PA need to email a link to this video to every politician in the state from the mayor to the governor, senators, and house. Now, today. Send it!!!! I'm going to.

  • This is outrageous. Please post the results. Contact these guys

    try testamericainc for result testing.

  • This is absolutely disgusting.. I live in PA and I'm seriously considering moving out of state just to get away from this mess.

I own a camp in upstate PA and shit like this happens more often that you think, so sickening... good video though, I hope they nail that scum company.

  • We could use a little more info. How did you happen to get this video? Were you following a truck from a drilling site? Did you happen to just come upon this dumping? It IS a disturbing video, but sure would like more info. Also, what did you do with the water collected? Would love to hear the results of any test. But, appreciate that you posted on youtube. Definitely something shady going on here!

  • I'm sorry, but I'm having a hard time finding out what "Frac Dumping" is or why it's a concern. I'm not from PA so please post some info about this problem. Thanks!

  • This is unbelievable! I live in PA as well and am absolutely mortified with the blatant disregard to our environment. and this after they made a point to put a program on the local channels here in Harrisburg about how wonderful this will be for the local economy as well as for the earth. the guy from the drilling company even went as far as to ware a green shirt and tie. bahh. friend of the environment...I think not.

  • Why would we pull of if he wasn't doing something shady? Please let us know the results I am from PA and this definitely concerns me.

  • How can you confirm that it's not?

  • @lewisforwv Good work...if we catch enough of these bastards perhaps they will be made to pay....More folks need to do just what this guy did!!! Get out those cameras!!!!

  • @lewisforwv

you should be held accountable for spreading rumors / lies about what is going on here. you assumed something and now with almost 5000 hits and news media attention, you have caused a lie to "get legs".

be a stand up guy here and come back on and admit you don't know what you are talking about or better yet, delete this lie of a video.

  • how can you confirm that this is fracking fluid?

  • is it any wonder the gas industry has zero credibility?

  • Did you report this?

    eyesondrilling@epa.gov

  • From the DOT number

    K&M Equipment, Inc

    EAST MOLINE IL 61244

  • I might of blocked his truck and called the state police...

good for you catching the industrial criminals at work.

Fracking must stop - soon there will be no drinkable water if all the watersheds are contaminated!

  • Did you report this?

  • In MANY of these cases, the fines they pay are cheaper than the proper disposal method and they still get off easy.

  • @WitchMan53 Explain what you mean. Do you have facts or direct knowledge of the fines?

  • DID YOU GET HIS LICENSE PLATE????????

    PUNISH THESE SCUMBAGS

  • God Bless YOU!

  • please let us know what the water test results show... great that you caught this... terrible that this is going on though.. criminal..

  • Disgusting! thanks for getting that, be interested in the test results

  • at 0:42 is the DOT #

  • call the state police and the DEP ! this is great you caught him , sickening thought , we all KNEW this was happening < we just need to CATCH THEM MORE !

  • You didn't get the license plate, but there was a DOT number on the truck. I'll bet you could track down the driver... You're a hero.

  • Pity the camera didn't catch the license plate. Is the incident being reported to the environmental authorities in PA?

  • This is what we need more of. Citizen Journalists with a camera to catch these activities! Great job...

  • Probably not frac fluid, per se, but rather what is company would call 'produced water' or as you and I would call it, TOXIC WASTE. I seem to recall companies dumping this 'water' on the roads because of the salt content-but this guy is going to have a very difficult time explaining the dump here. Nice catch, Lewis!

  • GOOD JOB @lewisforwv! I think we ALL MUST be vigilant in PA, W.VA & NY. This is MUCH more common than anybody is prepared to believe!!......Somerset PA
