The Lizard King meets the White Knight! I wonder if Jim Morrison had any other songs he could have snuck commercial slogans into . . . I'm picturing Morrison singing "Brusha Brusha Brusha" instead of "Come on Baby light my fire", or maybe singing "In the valley of the jolly . . . " during the recitation in "When The Music's Over".
Just so you know, this is a commercial that many people from the sixties remember. There were even a couple of Afro american spoofs of this commercial based on everything being "white" in this commercial. Anyone want to call this commercial racist? Waiting for your reply!
Colgate claimed they worked for 12 years to come up with that "really strong detergent" in the Ajax box...but once they introduced it, seems like they changed it every 10 to 12 months, from "stronger than dirt" to "Ajax-2" to "En-Jax Action (!)" to Total Color Ajax...go figure!
Morrison was mocking the commercial.. and the fact that the other band members almost commercialized "Light my Fire..." A little bit of comic relief I guess...
In Ray Manzarek's interview on Rockline, he said that Jim HATED that song. "Touch Me" was written by someone else, and they were forced to put it on The Soft Parade by the record execs gunning for a hit single. Jim was looking for something to embellish the song's ending that voiced his displeasure, when this Ajax commercial appeared on his TV, adding "Stronger Than Dirt" to the legend of The Doors....
These women actresses they used... are stronger than dirt!

"The Doors" is definitively one of the worst bands ever. Total garbage.

I remember when early computer tech jobs advertised: "Like to work with your hands? But don't like to get your fingernails dirty?"
