  • "If I Only Had Time". It's the story of our lives but it doesn't have to be. You have to make time. Beg, borrow or steal time but don't let it slip by and forget those who mean a lot to you because one day it will be to late.

  • Pierre Delanoe, a French songwriter/lyricist, was the writer of "Je n'aurai pas le temps" also known as "If I Only Had Tme." The source for this information is the Wiki article on songwriter Pierre Delanoe which indicates the song was written for Michel Fugain. No date of publication is given. This seems to be confirmed by the BMI database when searching for Pierre Delanoe. The song dates from at least 1962 because it was released in English by early Rock and Roll star Gene Pitney.

  • Looks Like a FCUKING CAVEMAN

  • @eddietheturdburglar Do not look or listen if you do not like it,some people love this music,do not try to spoil thieir pleasure.

  • @lneranger4 Point Taken, but you have to admit he Looks Rather Cavemanish...

  • My mother used to listen to his songs all the time. Looking back we disliked most of her music and thought it was old fashion, now I find myself looking up some of her old songs on youtube and listening to it and god forbid favouriting it. Must be getting old!

  • @TheMarjisty You're just appreciating good music now. That comes with maturity.

  • LOVE IT!!!!! x

  • My brother used to play this record a lot as I grew up. I had the privelege hearing John live in New Plymouth in 1986 and to meet him after the show was a highlight too.

  • I had just moved to Hawaii in the early 70's when one night for a moment, I heard John Rowles singing from an open air lounge of a hotel by the ocean. I was captivated. Now for the second time I found him here by accident. This is why I love YouTube. I never heard many of his songs before and this is beautiful. Mahalo nui loa, Diane :o)

  • That's how John Rowles ;)

  • Great voice John

  • Pretty good. Wouldn't it be cool to praise the good stuff and say nothing about the "bad stuff," and make no mistake there is a TON of bad stuff on YouTube and the vast majority isn't just the bad music.

  • fabulous singer, just brilliant,

a true singer unlike most of todays crap !

  • Go through all the Male singers /songs there have ever been. Is there really anything better than this, for Performance,Words, Meaning and still a Top Class entertainer.Sure many other Artistes have had more hits but do any beat this ? I think not.

  • This song goes back to a time when singers could really sing

  • I thought for a very long time that Tom Jones was the person who sang this song. This one really got me.

  • Tom Jones, John Rowles and Enegelbert Humperdinck are The Three Muskeeters.

Have they ever performed together ?

So good to catch up with him again after so many years have past when I knew him and his manager when we all lived in Earls Court, London/ Gorgeous voice! Great to catch up with you again, John!! Often thought of you and this song over the years. Also, Hush Not a Word to Mary. I lived on Trebovir Road. Not sure which name you knew me under at that time as I changed my name while I was living in Earls Court. Keep up the good works!

  • @No1ClashFan how sad but also nice

  • People just don't realise how short a time we got, spend our time waiting for the right time and then all of a sudden there;s no time left, and then spend our life's regreting spending so long waiting

  • music to commit suicide to. Thank God not there yet

  • Sad comment

  • EEEK!! My mum loved this song and she did commit suicide, although many many years later.

  • A CLASSIC

  • Rest In Peace my beloved friend! Harry..... If I only had time.......!!!!

  • This song fills me with nostalgia .. sweet sadness, as I, a teen then, was struggling with understanding with what was to be my first love, in 1968, while studying for my "A" Levels examination.. and time was running out. I could not get my act together, and everytime I heard this song, it was as if John was singing for me ... Such a beautiful song, so meaningful, and extremely popular in 1968, in Guyana where I lived. Time did run out on me, as my love left the country, and in effect, me.

  • very underrated singer,great voice.

  • john you are the man, wot a song classic kiwi shit if only nz bands had talent these days like this, its a pity tha music industry spends more time on image rathar than talent so kiwis like this could get out there

  • This song and Happiness by Ken Dodd probaly the have the most important song lyrics ever, well there are a few more but they escape me at the moment. Just listen to the words so meaningful and powerful. Poss check out Abba's "Move On" and Foster & Allen Bunch of Tyme

  • powerful classic, many thanks for the chance to hear it again

  • to much brotha

  • who wrote the song?

  • Michel Fugain (french singer).

Original song : "Je n'aurai pas le temps"

  • Michel Fugain.

Original song : "Je n'aurai pas le temps"

  • FANTASTIC

  • OH GOTT - was ist mir alles entgangen.

If I only had time, only time.

So much to do, if I only had time,

    If I only had ti-ime.

Dreams to pursue, If I only had time.

    They'd be mine.

    Time like the wind.

Goes a-hurrying by, and the hours just fly-y.

Where to begin there are mountains I'd climb.

    If I had time.

  • Many artists have had a stab at this song, but only John can really pull it off and give it that emotion. Hard to believe it dates to 1968. It sounds more like he did it in about 1972.

  • FANTASTIC SINGER!!!

    PALAPALA10

  • What the f... is with the "spam"-marking to such a positive comment? Jerk!

  • It gets me ! You see something and make a good comment, and someone with a pea brain has to give a negative "spam"..Every artist needs and welcomes a " Boost "...what wrong is there in that ?...Just smile DK... :)

  • I think this was an old French tune. What a brilliant song, it's so moving!
