@nataliewheeleryo Actually this song and in fact whole album is about the guy's girlfriend getting cancer of the bone and their struggle to uphold the relationship as she fights for her life. The 'bear' he refers to is a metaphor for the cancer.

@ratlover35 Kettering is a hospice (hence the album name) for terminal patients. Pregnancy isn't terminal. In regards to the lyrics it's all metaphorical, the cancer being 'loud' is how the toll of the illness is not ignorable. The relationship needs 'caves' & 'food' for progression but they're 'terrified of one another' because of how they're acting whilst she's ill. Learn to google.

@fghtffyrdmns5iana it's about abortion. you don't call cancer a "he" even when being metaphorical. you're not supposed to drink alcohol when you're pregnant. there's no reason to be secretive about making appts for a terminal illness or saying "no one has to know!" you have CANCER. it won't be going away after one appt, ppl will find out. by the way, this song isn't kettering, therefore your reasoning is invalid as for saying they're making an appt in a hospice.

@fghtffyrdmns5iana the album is about a man who works at kettering meeting a patient and falling in love. they marry, experience an abusive relationship until she dies and she haunts him even after she's dead (epilogue). during the course of their marriage, or even before, she got pregnant and they realized they weren't as in love as they thought and get an abortion. that's why they're bigger strangers than ever afterwards.

Best cover of this I've heard by far - I've taken to coverng Kettering, Wake, and Epilogue on piano even though I usually play guitar - something about that album just begs to be played on a piano. Anyway, excellent excellent cover and you killed the vocal. I'm seeing them in April in Madison with Phantogram opening. So excited.

I love your taste in music! I have never heard of this band either but among my similar interests are Frightened Rabbit, Ra Ra Riot and Eisley. They arent *that* similar, mewithoutyou is probably the closest to this band, but those are all bands that kinda sorta are close to the same genre?
