those pictures are from warsaw during the second war i know the street grzybowska which was wrote on the train it was horrible how much people's hurt not only jew but so many polish inteligency because they was taken to work camps in germany or siberia by german nation it's hard to explain it's better to read something about history and try to understand in how terrible time was poland and came and see now how poland looks like only in this way peoples which not prom poland can understand
Sorry but this song has nothing to do with Nazi Germany. If yoy carefully listent to the first verses it is said "As the Snow fly on a cold and gray CHICAGO morning". And as far as I know... Chocago is located in the USA. Even french assholes know that.
Tihs song is about fate, and how the conditions you were born in leads a part of your life.
It is a way to see things. The contrary is true too.
@NicoNormand Many of those pictures are from Warsaw Ghetto Uprising in 1943. When you take into account, that Chicago is sort of centre of Polish culture in the US, you can have your connection.
@NicoNormand I think that actually there is some ambiguity shown in this song. Especially the Irish band (The Cranberries) by singing about very far Chicago, might ment the conflict in Norhtern Ireland. This song shows that all the ghettos are the same, no difference where they are, no difference when. This song can be understood as a metaphore - even after the war people were still living in the ghettos.

@NicoNormand It might be about chicago but those in these pictures suffered too so same message right? Humans can be evil bastards sadly but fortunately we're not all evil...and the world goes on....
Si, there album "Wake Up and Smell the Coffee" has a song called Capetown on the N. American release. On everywhere else Capetown was replaced by In The Ghetto, a cover of Elvis.
@ultros Actually the first ghettos were in nazi germany, it's were they first segregated the jews from the rest of the german population before sending them to concentration camps. It's where the word ghetto came from.
Shame as when Dolores was in Chicago last year twice when I saw here I was hoping she would sing this song takes place in Chicago. She only sang it in France instead:)

I think xXzurawinkkaXx is right. No matter whether the song is actually about "negro" ghetto and suffering people in Chicago.

the Elvis Song is about the ghettization of some US cities like Chicago
