  • Listen to our new EP if you like this. / W

  • wow... i just searched for "john smith" because i thought it would be funny to see who would have such a name, because it is used so often. But this is just... beautiful music.

    Lucky me <3

  • i love you

    ich liebe diese stimme

  • @melancholykoala he used to support john martyn, saw them both live in one night, was a blessed night.

  • I saw him two nights ago in Vancouver opening for Lisa Hannigan. I'm very disappointed that I've never heard of him.

  • Loved this show in San Diego the other night!! :)

  • He reminds me of John Martyn

  • He reminds me of Damien Rice... is it only me? However, his music is brilliant!!!!!!!!

  • @TheVitasigma he's got a few similar songwriting techniques but their voices are very different but yea their songs have this similar sound..maybe thats why they both have the same manager as well!

  • @TheVitasigma in fact he sounds a lot more like Ray Lamontagne...exact vocal timbres!

  • love the fact the the crowd goes really quite when he starts . that the sign when they shut up and listen

  • this track and squares and circles by him are some of the nicest, deepest folk music I'v heard in a long time

  • @rubiks4x4 yeh what tuning is it>??

  • Saw John support the late John Martyn in Glasgow not that long ago - very good indeed.

  • wow he plays so cool...

  • i saw him live at the cambridge folk festival we talked about me moving to aus and he signed my cd and i am now his unnoficial australasia promoter!

  • Just saw him at Southwell doing a guitar seminar where he played this and it was literally breath taking. I'm sure I forgot to breath while watching him.

  • insane, love it.

  • so cool

    great artist

  • such a tune

  • cool guy.. watched him today at warwick arts centre.. was very goood

  • I did in Norwich last week. Goosebumbs dude...Goosebumps.

  • O.O DAAAAAMN... i wanna see him live so much it hurts my bones.

  • if you live near Brighton he's playing there soon. 10 quid a ticket. Bargain!

  • Amazing, such beautiful work with the harmonics, look up a guy called Ben Howard, he was inspired by John Smith and he has to be my favorite artist rite now.

  • John Smith was awesome at the Manchester Apollo last night :D

  • I saw John last night supporting David gray at the colston hall in Bristol. Totally brilliant performance. Thank you for signing the CD John. May you go from strength to strength mate, anyway of keeping tabs where you are performing.

  • i was there!

  • i feel bad for him. he's amazing but no one's gonna know about him because of his EXTREMELY COMMON NAME!

  • What a performance

  • I like this guy's stuff. I don't know why but i do.

  • Not bad for his age. If you find that impressive, you should look up Michael Kelsey; he plays bass, percussion and guitar all at once, while dancing and drumming on whatever's handy.

  • Amazing way to play guitar!!!

I saw him supporting david gray @ Westonbirt.

The people right next to me where talking and critsicing him all the time until he plays that song. He let them spechless and I feel really well.

He's really talented. He deserves much more attetion

    <3!

  • saw him supporting David Gray on the 10th july, i filmed this one all the way through! brilliant x

  • jus saw him play at the weekend for the first time, absolutly amazin!!

  • Im not a fan of percussive guitar, but I bloody well love this.

  • his albums are hard as hell to find. But damn do I love him

  • Utterly spell-binding. I, too, saw John Smith supporting John Martyn and I was blown away by his unique approach and style. What a guy!

  • bloody brilliant; talented individual, nice guy.

  • saw him supporting John Martin in Nottingham. He was so impressive. I was disappointed when he cam on be cause i thought he'd be boring but he was far from it!

  • real damn good

  • Seen this guy twice, once at a very small little intimate folk pub in Manc, simply excellent! Nu-folk at it's very very best.

  • wow....

    sexy guy with sexy song..

    meow!!!

  • Your amazing John! I saw this when you supported John Martyn at Cambridge Corn Exchange. You blew me away! Thanks!

  • Yes seen him twice now and got the album "fox and the monk" pure brilliance.

  • John you ledge! even tho you did steal my Hendrix dvd (haha) i remember hearin your record in the Phil yeeeaaaarrrrssssss ago! any ways, gonna challenge your musiclness very soon with my own blend of earthy acoustic blues :p watch this space!

  • Yes, I'd buy a live Cd of this guy. He was a darn sight better than Davey Graham who was pissed and shambolic! (Leeds City Varieties) his version of this that night was better than this - played a normal intro and then placed the guitar on his lap. Keep an eye out for this guy - he'll go far!

  • Just come back from seeing him support D Graham. I strongly suggest you catch him on his first headline tour starting this November. And buy his Roundhouse CD. Brilliant.

  • Yes! omg yes! I seen this guy live, omg.

  • I was there,he supported jools holland who was shite, this guy is fuckin boss

  • WOW WOW, should know of him!

  • It takes a serious moment to appreciate the elegance and mastery of his style... it's a shame he doesn't exhibit this talent on more of his album tracks.

  • The song is called "Winter". I bought The Fox and The Monk (John's self-released CD) based on this video, and I am absolutely blown away by John's playing. I've been obsessed with fingerstyle players since hearing players like Jon Gomm, Nick Harper, Michael Hedges, etc. John has found a style that sets him apart - keep it up, John!

  • Great Style!

He came to Mexico Last week, I saw him live and I liked this song and other one where he played with a small paper on the strings... cool sound !!! =)

(does anyone knows what`s the name of that song ??)

  • no words. well, a few, beautiful, haunting, respect.

  • Thats awsome, ahhhhhhh, it sent a shiver down my spine

  • do you want a spoon

  • Why the fuck are people not up on their feet shouting the sodding roof down after such guitar mastery? He must know his friend very well to get all of those sounds out of it. Or he must not have a life.

  • Hi John,

Great gig at the Roundhouse. Spellbound. Thanks for the CD, it's tops. Sorry about the beer all over your feet!

    PV

  • Brilliant. more please !1
